I went to Baba Sushi with my fiance and another couple for a valentines dinner on the saturday after. It was a busy night so i could understand why the waitress only came around ever 20 minutes. We all ordered our meals and within 30 minutes or so everyones food came out. Except for my filet mignon. I had waited an extra 15 minutes or so and when the waitress came back i asked her about it and she said it will be right out. 20 minutes later the waitress came back out and made another excuse about my food. Decided to try Baba Sushi even though my loyalties laid elsewhere. Have to say - bravo Baba! What a great experience. Very clean and modern, bartender was so friendly and chatted with me even while busy. I love it here. It's very homey and comforting with the best sushi and cocktails. I always start with the Kani Baba. It is so unexpectedly good. It's like a crab salad on Pringles. The Red Headed Panda is one of my favorite cocktails. We go here like once a month because it's so good. read more

Baba has been a great addition to the Sturbridge, MA area. The owner and sales manager are really outstanding about making community connections; participating in events, offering discounts and donations. I ate here twice. I've been everywhere and have a good idea what different cuisines are suppose to taste like. This place was lacking esp as compared to Kaizen. Unless its under new management I wouldn't bother trying to eat there again. Was expensive besides. Esp so for food thats just ok in my book. Also to add, the service was lacking too. Seems like their help wasn't trained and didn't feel the need to please and were basically inattentive. I'm sure none of the persons that waited on us are still there. I see that there busy. I really wanted to love Baba. But with Kaizen a few yards down Rt 20, I'll take Kaizen any day. They did a beautiful job on the interior and the landscaping is superb! But their sushi doesn't compare favorably with kaizen, and the Hot Pot is not the best. read more

I never write yelp reviews but I was really disappointed with this place. We ordered 2 rolls, salmon avocado and tiger eye, gyoza, and otoro sashimi. The gyoza were fine. The salmon avocado was fine, nothing special and on the smaller size. The tiger eye was so small without much fish. Each thin slice of roll was no more than half an inch thick (by contrast each piece of the other roll was 3/4 inch), which is outrageous for a $12 roll with no special ingredients. It was just so small my friend and I could not get over it and we eat at a lot of sushi places. And then there was the otoro sashimi. We got this as a special treat because my friend had never had it and while the taste was good, we never were able to experience that great melt in your mouth feeling bc the fish was so sinewy and hard to bite through. For such a special product we expected far more care to be taken in the cut of the fish. While we mentioned this to the waitress and the manager did take it off our bill, which we appreciated, the overall experience left much to be desired, and we were far from full. We come to Sturbridge a lot to visit breweries but we will definitely not return here. read more

The best sushi in the state! Everything is super fresh and has amazing presentation. The Hot Pot is a very fun experience and offers a great variety for a reasonable price. Great food horrible service. Waited 40 minutes for the waitress to check in. Then she questioned the low tip I left. I adjusted the tip and left nearly 20% because I think what she did took courage. But I probably won't come back. I've been a regular for over a year and each time the service gets worse and worse. I USED to leave big tips when the service was good! Take the extra time to go out to Worcester or Boston for hot pot. Wish I could give baba the 5 stars they deserve because the food is AMAZING but the service has left a remarkably bad taste in my mouth. read more

We tried Baba Sushi recently and while it wasn't necessarily a bad experience I just did not the find sushi to be as fresh as Kaizen. I know I shouldn't compare, but the rolls did not hold together very well and there was a great deal of sauce on them so it was hard to taste the actual flavor of the fish or ingredients. The drinks were strong but pretty pricey, all in all I'm not sure I would go back even though it all tasted ok. I expect more than "Ok" when I'm spending that much. read more

Prices are steep, rolls are tasty but small in comparison to kaizen which is within walking distance. Only ever really been during the day at the bar when it has been empty, so service is fine. Try the rock shrimp appetizer, it's quite tasty. Drinks are on point for the most part. Hot pot personally isn't my thing, so I stick to sushi when I come here. read more

Everthing about this resturant was excellent. We we're the first of our group to arrive so we went to the bar for a drink. The drink menu at the bar had an extremely large list of martinis. The expreso was yummy. Once we we're seated our waitress was fantastic. We had never been to a hot pot resturant before. She was able to guide us through our broth selections as well as our food selections, We did a combination fish ,beef, and chicken. It all so came 28th vegetables and noodles. We also had sushi the menu was extensive but everything we order was very good. I would definitely recommend. But if your going on the weekend my sure you make reservations. read more

I ate at Baba Sushi last Friday night in Sturbridge for the first time. I have visited the Worcester location multiple times. I had just gotten over a stomach bug, so I did not want to order raw fish. Instead, I ordered steak teriyaki medium rare. What came out was a giant piece of fatty over cooked meat over some veggies. I was appalled that the server/line cook would even allow the entree to come out to the customer. The steak took up the entire plate, but only about a small handful was not fat. On top of that, the meat was well done and chewy. When the waitress came by I told her I was unhappy and she offered to bring me a new meal. I politely declined since the rest of the table was already done eating. When we received the bill I was still charged for the meal. I was very disappointed with the service. read more

I am from New York. Have a summer house in town. I am glad this place opened. Now we have a real shushi restaurant in town. Food is fresh, new style attracts young and professional customers. My husband and I have been here 3 times since it has opened. W3e love everything from the décor, to the staff, and of course the food. Highest quality fare that may cost more than some of the restaurants in the area but worth every penny. The owner is kind and gracious and obviously trains his staff very well. My Fiancé and I wanted to try something a little different today and Baba definitely gave us the experience we were looking for! I tend to be very nervous about new restaurants that I know nothing about, because I am Celiac. Our server, Anthony, was beyond amazing and informative (which is a big thing for me to say, since I've been in the restaurant industry for 15 years and counting). Anthony went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. He explained everything thoroughly and made sure I never felt like my Gluten issue was an inconvenience. The food was amazing! It was so much fun creating our own hot pot! I got the Miso broth and my Fiancé got the Mala broth(a little to spicy for my taste buds). We chose the "Hot pot for 2" and it was a great combination of vegetables and meats. It gave us a chance to try an assortment of things that they offer. Just make sure if you go you're not in a time crunch. The hot pots take time to create and cook. We are usually the couple that is in and out of a restaurant in 30 minutes.
