    Nellore Karam dosa
    Akshay S.

A mediocre south Indian food truck. First of all, there is no Sambar. Although it is common in some south indian states to eat dosa without sambar, for me it was the first turn-off. The babai dosa was decent and tasted like ghee podi onion dosa. The nellore karam dosa was underwhelming. It was a dosa stuffed with a spicy chutney. And that's about it, it was just spicy with hardly any flavour. The chutney that was served with the dosa was the peanut one and not the coconut one. That could be a deal breaker for some as well. The tea is free and unlimited. Definitely did not live up to its hype. It's a proper food truck so expect limited seating. Service is okay. Nothing to say about ambience..

I was excited to give this new Indian food truck a try. They specialize in Dosas and only offer about 5 or 6 choices. There are also a couple of Kathi roll options as well as an older gentleman who stands outside of the truck serving Panipuri. Apparently there is also complimentary chai but there was none when I arrived. There was however quite a bit of a crowd at night as this truck is open late. I think the rush of orders made him rush thru cooking the dosas because none of them looked to be crispy at all. They all looked kind of just mushy and soft. My chicken dosa had the texture of Ethiopian Injera bread. The chicken was also way too salty. Mango lasi was good. I could see potential for 4 stars. The lot this truck is located in is very easy to find and Rose Hill area is a beautiful neighborhood. Love the music and hanging lights in the summer time. But the food needs work sir. Dosas are supposed to satisfy with a crunch....

Too much karam on the dosas. No taste and the pachidi didn't taste good either. Just hype folks.

I have been to Kanishka several times over the last few years, and I've been pretty disappointed by…read morethe repeated instances of poor service. The food is usually delicious, and the service is usually fine, but there always seems to be something that throws off our dining experience here. For example, we dined in last Sunday for dinner, and were promptly seated. We ordered the garlic naan to share, and our vegetarian friend ordered the Paneer Makhni. However, when the dish arrived, she took a bite and discovered that there were chicken pieces inside, and when we alerted the server, we didn't even receive an apology. They took away her plate, which had some rice and garlic naan, and gave her a new plate with a new order of the Paneer Makhni, and did not replace the rice and garlic naan that was lost due to their mistake. I feel that giving a vegetarian or vegan person a dish with meat is a huge mistake, and I was very disappointed by the lack of an apology and the lack of an effort to make things right. On the happy side, the garlic naan was tasty, and I personally ordered a chicken kabob dish that was covered in sauce, which was phenomenal. Another example is that for 3 or 4 visits, we interacted with the same server. He always greeted us with "ni hao" even though we are not Chinese. Even worse, on multiple occasions, after we paid for the food with credit card, he would make up some lie about how the card reader was broken for the tip portion, and he would ask for a cash tip that he pocketed. We've never had this issue with any other server, and I've even seen this guy tell other groups the same lie about the card reader not working for the tip portion, even though it worked fine for the main payment. In summary, although Kanishka seems to have some food quality control issues, the food is delicious, and the service can be a wide range from very poor to good.

The thali was presented in a wonderfully traditional manner, which immediately set the tone for the experience. There were 16 different items, and everything tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The stars of the meal for me were the Bajri Raab and the Ghewar--both absolutely outstanding. The service was courteous, and we thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. A couple of suggestions for improvement: when the thali is served, it would be helpful if the person presenting it could briefly explain each dish and perhaps suggest how certain items are traditionally paired or eaten. That would make the experience even more immersive, especially for those unfamiliar with Rajasthani cuisine. Also, the plate felt a bit small for the number of ramekins. There was very little room left for the rice, and the chutney and pickle kept sliding underneath the ramekins, making things a bit messy. A slightly larger plate would make the meal much more comfortable to enjoy. Finally, please continue hosting thali festivals featuring cuisines from different regions of India. That's a fantastic concept, and we'd love to return for more regional culinary experiences.

Service was a bit hit and miss and hence 3 stars not 4. We ordered nadru, panj puri and Rajma kebabs as starters. Nadru was good but others were okay. For main course we ordered lababdar paneer and jackfruit curry. Paneer was good, jackfruit was okay. Service was spotty, one of the glasses leaked water on our table but nobody came to wipe it off. Our bread order came out in parts. 1 person was eating first while others were waiting for bread to come out. Overall, okay place if you are in the area and want to try some Indian food.

It wasn't too spicy, and my kid liked that the pav had a nice crisp exterior. Misal Pav - Not the traditional version with misal, tari, and farsan, but still a decent dish overall. Rawa Batata Tikki Chaat - A bit sweeter than I prefer, but still enjoyable. Next time, I'll ask for a spicier version. Chili Paneer - This one hit the mark. We ordered it at a 4/4 spice level, and it delivered both heat and flavour Veg Hakka Noodles - One of my favorites of the night. The service, however, could benefit from more training, guidance, and attention.

The staff were very sweet. I loved the music playlist in the background and the colorful art on the walls. The restaurant was very clean when we went, and I can always appreciate a clean bathroom when I come across one! I definitely recommend this place to you and your friends!

We grabbed the Rajma Chawal and Chole Bhature for mains, they were decent enough to hit the spot. The snacks were where it got a little tricky. The ambience was pleasant and lively, which set a nice tone for the meal. We started with the Kachori Chaat, which unfortunately was just average - not bad, but nothing memorable either. Next came the Butti Ka Murg, and this completely changed the experience. The chicken was juicy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Easily the standout dish of the night - absolutely delicious. The Amritsari Kulcha was also excellent, with great stuffing and good taste. However, the chole served alongside it was just okay and didn't quite match the quality of the bread. Drinks were decent but nothing special. Overall, the food had some real highs and some middling items. We felt the pricing was on the higher side for the value and consistency offered. Would probably come back for specific dishes (especially the Butti Ka Murg), but not necessarily for a full meal.
