Glass 3/4 filled with ice vs the old shaved ice
    Mark M.

Ok so I have been going to BaBas in Joliet for almost two decades and fell in love with their cheesesteaks and amazing frozen lemonades, which were This amazing combination of lemonade and shaved ice. Almost like an Italian ice Combined with Lemonade. When they opened up in Bolingbrook I was excited. Been here so many times. Now have to admit that with covid etc. it's been some time since we last went. We had a craving so we went tonight. Service is always prompt and the cheesesteak was as good as ever. However that is where they lost us! as we started enjoying our frozen lemonades, one lemon and one strawberry, we realized that they filed most of the glasses with big ice cubes!!! Not sure if this was a one time mistake or if they are trying to cut costs by filling the glass with big ice vs the shaved ice. Total cheap move!!!! If this is the new norm we will NOT give them any more business!!! Not sure if this is just this location so going to go back to Joliet and will post review for that location. I hope management sees this and makes a change!!

Food was very tasty, but everything comes with fries. I asked if there was a side of pizza puff and he said it would be the same price with fries. they need to allow a la carte options. I didn't need so many fries. And there were no child options. But now that I know all this ordering in the future will be different.

This place has anything from tacos and burritos to burgers and wraps to salads and fries. So many different things to try and super great prices! I was surprised but the food is great and their fries are the best I've had anywhere! The lemonade I had there I didn't like. But to each his own. The place is a bit rundown and not the cleanest setting but it's one of those "rundown but yum" places. It's maybe not a place id drive out to to eat but if you live in the area and it's five minutes away from you or better yet walking distance, I'd definitely recommend to stop by. There's been a few times when I came home to an empty fridge and Babas was there for me. It has a lot of seating area so if you bring your whole family it would be ok. Definitely not a fancy place but the food tastes better than the place looks, trust me.

Small Chicken Gizzards Dinner- gizzards are not properly cleaned. The poop lining is still there. Gross!!

I just bought a small plate of gizzard. The first 2 pieces were good. But when I was eating the 3rd piece, I tasted some kinda weird and bitter taste. They didn't clean the gizzard well. They didn't peel off the poop lining. GROSS!!!! I Today 7/30/20, my daughter bought me "pick 2 meal". I really didn't want to eat anything from this place because of my past "gross" experience, but I was hungry and I was hoping that they fixed my issues with them already. This time, the chickens and gizzards are looking fresh and good...but my problem now is the sauce they gave me...small containers are not even half full!! Seems like it's all left overs from previous customers. Just a bit of advice...next time you buy from them, open your containers and fill it up from the bottle that is on the counter.

Ribeye steak sandwich drenched in the hot sauce.

I made a mistake... A huge error that I will fix the next time I return to Baba's Famous Steak and Lemonade. Although the steak is part of the name, it became apparent that the regulars came for the chicken. By the look of things they knew what they were ordering, and I messed up, but I digress. Although I knew I messed up. I was still was happy with my ribeye steak sandwich. The sandwich was actually a legit ribeye sandwich, and what I mean by that was there was a ribeye steak in my sandwich. It wasn't sliced pieces of the steak. It was an actual steak, and it was a large portion. It was served topped with lettuce, tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and gooey melted cheese. To be quite frank the lettuce and tomatoes weren't really needed. I would've been just fine with the steak, mushrooms, and cheese. It was good, a little over cooked, but the all in all well done. The ribeye steak combo came with fries, and this is solidified my thoughts that I made a huge mistake with my order. Like I said I liked the steak sandwich, but when I had the fries, I realized I should have gotten the fried chicken. Reason being, the fries were exceptional. They were super crispy on the outside and silky on the inside. All I can think was if they do fries this good here, I wonder how great that chicken would be. Baba's Famous Steak and Lemonade may have steak in it's name, but next time, I'm for sure getting the fried chicken. All in all, my experience with Baba's was really good. The food was tasty. The prices were low. The portions were significant. What more can you really ask for? Well I can ask for fried chicken., but that will be for next time. Come check this place out.

So I thought we were all set. Our reservation was for 6:00, and we arrived at 5:54. We were told to wait until six, which was perfectly fine. Six o'clock rolls around and we're told they're still cleaning the table. Okay, we wait. Then we wait. And wait. Thirty minutes later, we find out the people who had the table STILL hadn't even left. Baby...what exactly were we reserving three weeks ago, a future dream? They offered us a complimentary appetizer, which I appreciate in theory, but when you've got a party of eight waiting 40 minutes past their reservation time, I'm not really looking for the cheapest appetizer on the menu. I'm looking for the table I reserved. Eventually, we were seated, and thank GOD for our server Alexis B, because they completely turned the experience around. Funny, knowledgeable, incredibly kind, and genuinely one of the best servers I've ever had. If I could give them five stars separately, I would. They made us feel welcome and somehow kept the whole table laughing after that rocky start. The food had some hits and misses. The crab cake was a little too spicy for my taste, although the rest of the table enjoyed it. The mini sliders, however? DELICIOUS. That buttery, well seasoned bun was doing exactly what it needed to do. Then came my Entourage burger, and baby...THAT burger understood the assignment. It was absolutely packed with flavor. So good that I practically inhaled it. My server even asked if I wanted another one because apparently I ate it fast enough to qualify for a second round. Unfortunately, the management situation left a lot to be desired. After the issues getting our table, the managers seemed to keep watching our group throughout the night. If you're going to stare, baby, at least commit to the performance! It made an already awkward situation feel even more uncomfortable. Honestly, my server Alexis B, was the ONLY reason this experience ended on a positive note. They were so charming and personable that by the end, they felt more like a friend than a server. I'm genuinely going to miss them. The food was good, and that burger was fantastic, but a three-week reservation should not turn into a 40 minute wait with a party of eight standing around wondering when they're going to eat. So unfortunately, I'm leaving with two stars. The food gave me reasons to come back, but the reservation experience and management gave me reasons to stay home. And to my server: you were the star of the night. Protect this person at all costs.

It was 5:45, I didn't have a reservation, a they didn't have a table available until 7:30 but there were spots at the bar which they said was full service. My friend and I cozied up to it and ate there. What a surprisingly good experience. The staff was super friendly and that bartenders had great suggestions. I hate when people at the restaurant say everything is good. Not these young ladies. They made some sound suggestions which we followed. French onion soup and the steak frites were both excellent and priced well IMO. They have a really good whiskey/bourbon selection with a few hard to find bottles. I settled on a Blantons neat. They had Pappy, but I'm not wasting money on that anymore. Food came out quickly and we ate and watched a baseball game. The locals at the bar told us about their membership program where I guess for a small mo they fee you get a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate once a month. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I don't live anywhere near there, but if I did I'd certainly join. In any case, if you live anywhere close, this is definitely a worthwhile restaurant to visit. Seems like there were quite a few singles there as well if you are looking to meet someone. I have no idea what the dating scene is like in Lemont, but this might be a good spot to try.

A beautiful circular room that was glass enclosed with views of outside and the bar area. They had sheet curtains incase groups wanted a bit more privacy. The room also had a personal fan for air circulation and an independent speaker system to adjust music volume. For drinks, our group got a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine. I got the Hugo Spritz which was a great portion & tasted amazing. While some cocktails on menu were expensive, my Spritz was $14 and my friend's tito's dirty martini was only $13. Definitely consider just ordering a classic versus one of their mixology offerings if you're looking for a budget conscious option. For starters, we shared the Stuffed Mushrooms, Calamari, and Spinach & Artichoke Dip. The portions were good for sharing. The Stuffed Mushrooms had a seafood mix in them with a delicious sauce paired under. The Calamari had a hint of spicy to it but nothing crazy. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip had a good truffle note and was creamy; the dip could have used a few more chips but some individuals used the complimentary bread slices. Most individuals got a soup or salad before the mains. The Lobster Bisque Soup was rich and creamy with a good amount of lobster. Others tried the Caesar, Chop, and Field Green Pear Salads. The Pear Salad could have been shared by two people since it was a starter salad. Everyone raved about the flavors of these. For mains, most people got steaks and shared side dishes of Brussel Sprouts, Truffle Steak Fries, and Asparagus. The sides were shareable for 2-3 people I would say. I ordered the Seared Scallop Pasta and loved it! The noodles were al dente, two sauces paired nicely together, and loved the vegetables that brightened up the dish. For desserts, we shared the Rocky Road Bread Pudding, Fudgy Chocolate Cake, and Orange Vanilla Cream Cheesecake. Every option brought its own flavor and offered something for everyone. I tried the Bread Pudding and Chocolate Cake and WOW! I'd certainly order either one again. While all of the food, drinks, and atmosphere were great, I struggled some with the service. Our main server was Christine who guided us through the menu nicely, made sure the room was comfortable for us, and had a sweet demeanor. The pacing of food was a bit off where it felt like dishes were being taken off the table with a couple of bites left just to serve the next course. I'm not a fan of wasting food when out and I felt these little bites could have been saved and sent home with guests. If we paid for it, we should ALWAYS be asked. There were a couple of side requests that came to the table very delayed and one meal that came at the end of dinner. I'm sure it is difficult to manage a large group setting but I felt disappointed to see items wasted, pacing rushed, and certain people waiting to enjoy till additional items came.

As we ordered drinks, he asked only my daughter (33 years old) and my niece (39 years old) for identification. My niece explained that she had her ID available digitally on her phone. Casper said he needed a physical ID but would check with a manager to see if the digital version could be accepted. After speaking with management, he returned and informed us that a digital ID would not be accepted. He explained that the restaurant's policy required physical IDs from anyone who appeared to be 30 years old or younger. When we expressed our frustration and said we would not be dining there because of this policy, he showed no concern and offered no apology. We were curious about a random age requirement if the server thought you "looked" 30 or younger although the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. Before leaving, we asked to speak with a manager. Ryan, the manager, met us at the door, and we explained that we were disappointed that our niece could not order a drink despite having a valid digital ID. Rather than addressing our concern, he compared the situation to him being carded at liquor stores. We pointed out that this was a restaurant, not a liquor store, and that the policy appeared to be applied selectively based exclusively on the server's judgment. Ryan offered no apology and referred us to the General Manager. When Christa, the General Manager, joined us, we asked why the restaurant used a 30-year-old threshold when the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. She initially stated that the policy was to request IDs from all guests ordering alcohol. I explained that only my daughter and niece had been asked for IDs. She then revised her explanation, saying that servers request IDs from anyone who appears younger than 30, making the policy exclusively dependent on the server's judgment. We also pointed out that we observed a nearby table of younger-looking guests had been served alcoholic beverages, but their server did not ask for their IDs. Christa questioned our observation. What was most disappointing was that neither Ryan nor Christa apologized for the inconvenience or acknowledged our concerns. As first-time guests, we left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that we will not be dining at Perry's in Oakbrook again and has left a bad impression of Perry's management team, in general. If I could rate them a "no stars," I would.
