Great service, above average food. Servers are hustlers and keep you updated on when everything coming out, great communication. Had the Delmonico beef ribeye steak, cured my cravings for a good steak! You can also get it in bison, but didn't have the courage to do so. Maybe next time. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this one was pretty disappointing. Went to Ted's Montana Grill and the food was honestly not good. We ordered two burgers (one beef, one bison) and a kid's meatloaf. Both burgers came out way undercooked, and the bison burger looked borderline raw. Definitely not appetizing. I mentioned it to our server, and while he was polite, his response was basically that the meat is fresh and that's how it's supposed to be cooked. No apology, no offer to fix it, nothing. That was pretty frustrating. Service overall was just okay, but the food quality really missed the mark. I wouldn't recommend eating here, and I won't be coming back. read more

Well it was my sister's pre celebration birthday dinner and I treated her to where she used to work at in the Glenview location. This is the last Ted Montana's and my sister wanted to eat their signature food. I've been to the Glenview location but that's been more than 10 years. Anyways I had the bison short ribs it was mouth watering delicious. Very moist with my carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. The bison chili I ordered was wonderful. I also ordered an apple crisp for dessert. My sister gave me a sample of her bison filet and it was delicious. The crab cakes my sister friend order she said it was delicious with kale and fresh broccoli. Ambiance was nice and romantic despite it's a group dinner. This is my usual go to spot! Enjoyed a great meal with our dog on their outdoor patio. This place is pet friendly! I had the jumbo crab cake and veggies paired with my favorite huckleberry margarita. As a steak house, absolutely delicious. Different cuts of bison and beef. They also have seafood and poultry options as well. Everything was delicious but nothing special service wise, even if it's a special occasion. Cocktails were alright, lemon drop martini wasn't very good. Happy they were accommodating to side changes. Our observations as a party of 4 with a total bill of $368.00 (including 20% tip). Please let me say first that this is personal to me since we have been coming here since the restaurant opened in 2008 and we have sadly seen the decline and hence this very low rating. So many years of experiences and good times celebrating random events with amazing food (miss the prime rib!) and I am so, so sad at this decline because we experienced it at its best. The positives - there are a couple still ... **Fresh pickles** never disappoint! **Servers** always so very friendly and attentive! The most recent food experiences over last 3 visits with the most recent highlighted. **Potato chips & dip** this last visit had gummy chips, but the onion dip still good **Onion Rings** still yummy, crunchy and good horseradish dip **Cocktails** still good, especially the huckleberry margarita, but Cosmo was sooooo bitter it was a chore to drink it at $13 which is a first **Kale Salad** two side salads ordered, one was large, the other was significantly smaller. Both had way too many inedible kale stems and the alleged corn, tomato and jalapeno were essentially nonexistent. **Roasted Broccoli** not roasted in the slightest but rather steamed **Burgers** are so tiny now compared with the past, no longer a proper bun to burger ratio, all 3 ordered at medium and 2 were well done. The toppings are also less plentiful as the blue cheese on the "Beef Blue Creek Burger" ($19.50) was basically non existent. **Certified Angus Beef New York Strip - $41** this was the absolute worst steak I have ever had here or honestly anywhere. It was tiny (about a quarter inch thick, and about 5 inches long) reminiscing it to a bad greasy spoon restaurant type steak. It was not grilled at all (no marks or char), asked for medium rare received medium well, and was so full of gristle that only about half of the steak was actually edible meat. This was certainly not Certified Angus and no where near what you would expect for a $41 price tag for this cut at a restaurant like this. **Baked Potato Loaded Side** well, no butter and maybe a teaspoon each of the everything toppings?! **Cookies** so far undercooked they tasted raw **Service** again very friendly and attentive, but a few things got "lost" in translation and had to ask more than once for a couple things forgotten even though it was listed as part of the entree and the restaurant was nearly empty at 8pm on a Saturday. All-in-all I am so, so very sad we have yet another restaurant we have loved for so many years that is still charging what they are now for sub-par food. I wonder how long they will survive if they continue to cut every corner. We will remember the great food it once was but will sadly not be back. read more

We let them know a Gluten free guest was coming and the menu was on table when seated! Wow! The salmon was cooked to perfection. Seasoned perfectly and the asparagus was yummy!! The bison smashburger was delicious and onion rings so tasty. Red sangria was perfect and the orangle vanilla cosmos was delicious. I am thrilled with entire experience. The service was good however I ordered the plank salmon. Don't know how it was cooked, but was not planked. Worst part it was only about 75% cooked. I showed the waitress and her response was not the best. She offered to have it recooked!?!? If I wanted microwave fish I would goto long john silvers. I am not going back. Terrible. read more

Love it here' Ben here twice now and brought friends with us the second time and they lived it as well. The baked chicken is the best I have ever had and the portions are very large where I have enough to take home for lunch the next day. My husband loved his bison steak and spare ribs he got as well. We haven't been to Ted's in a while, but after this last experience, I do not think that my family and I will be back. First, the hostess seated us in a booth in the back of the restaurant next to the bathroom, when there were other booths available. The restaurant was not crowded. Second, the food wasn't anything to write home about. My mother ordered the chili as the entree and immediately sent it back. The "chili" was cloaked with French fries and bread and actual chili was sparse. The waiter was nice, but his service was lackluster- no enthusiasm. I also saw the hostess playing with her hair in the back near the kitchen area, and did not see her wash her hands prior to going back on the main floor to prepare tables. We used to adore Ted's, but this experience was left much to be desired-- from the seating, service and the food. read more

We are here after a basketball tournament. My son had a fried chicken sandwich and fry's. Chicken was burnt. My husband had the bison brisket which was good but the carrots were a watery mess on the plate. My burger was ok but both our fry's were very under cooked. Our food was brought out by the cook. On this day, we had lunch at Ted's Montana Grill and let me tell you, this place is more than impressive. So, let's start by saying that this place is beautiful. Not in a modern, ice cold techno, frigid kinda way. This place reminds me of what a 1920's speakeasy would look like. It's decorated with dark, yet warm and well appointed wood and light, slightly off white colors. This is paired with some of the BEST service received recently. From the warm welcome at the door, to the incredibly professional, yet delightfully intimate server, our experience was top notch. We opted for some of their very popular burgers. Bison Burgers. Yes. Bison. We ordered the GEORGE'S CLASSIC CADILLAC Bison burger, topped with BBQ sauce, cheddar, bacon, served with a 2 types of lettuce, tomato and purple onion. The bacon... the bacon was probably the BEST bacon I have EVER tasted. I review food, and I have had a tried a lot of bacon, but this bacon makes you wanna cowboy up and head for Montana! Very well balanced burger and the fresh gamey flavor of the bison were a starting delicious surprise. This came with garlic mashed potatoes that were also perfect. We also ordered the AVALON topped with gruyère, blue cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, roasted garlic aioli and baby arugula. I tell you... Blue cheese is hard to pair successfully. Not here. It was fantastic! The exotic combo of the cheeses, bacon and arugula combined with a smear of mayo and mustard and WOW! It's like a stick of flavor dinamite went boom in your taste buds. We chose the 50/50 Onion rings and fries and could not have been happier. After devouring both burgers we did not have room for dessert, which we now regret with choices like Kahlua fudge Brownie and 2 adult shakes with Kahlua, vodka and Jack Daniel's. The menu was pretty straightforward and the star is their bison burgers. By featuring the biggest bison menu in the world, Ted's Montana Grill has made bison a popular menu choice today in dining, providing incentive for ranchers to actively grow their herds. We were given some bison to sample, just to taste the difference and it as pretty clear... the flavor of bison is a clean and intense flavor of beef. It's not as fatty but even with bison being leaner than beef, it wasn't dry. We kicked off our dinner with onion rings. What we were served were clearly the biggest onion rings I've ever encountered! They were huge sweet vidalia onions dipped in buttermilk, seasoned and then hand-breaded in a fine cracker crumb before frying up to a golden brown. They were served with a horseradish sauce and were so crisp and flavorful without falling apart like many other onion rings I've tried. One order will easily feed a table of 4. We didn't have any difficulty deciding on what to order - bison burgers, of course! They offer a few different ones on their menu - 18 to be exact - and there is something for everyone. I went with their Avalon Burger, which consisted of Gruyere cheese, blue cheese, bacon caramelized onions, roasted garlic aioli and baby arugula. This burger was so flavorful with all the toppings complimenting it perfectly. My husband also had a bison burger and opted for their Blue Creek burger. This burger was topped with blue cheese and bacon, with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. Both burgers were served with seasoned fries, which were also very good. And just went we thought we were full, we were given a dessert menu. But who could resist even taking a look at dessert regardless of how full you may be? We indulged with the tallest strawberry shortcake which was a great ending to the meal. Overall, our meal and service was outstanding. Had dinner here for the 2nd time; this time brought a date. We shared the bison nachos which were wonderful; the chili they use on them was very tasty. My guy had the bison meatloaf sandwich and I had what's quickly becoming my "usual" - Ted's Filet (bison tenderloin), garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. We shared dessert - which was a special that evening - an apple and walnut pastry topped with vanilla ice cream. This location is about 40 minutes from me (my date lives much closer) but I don't mind the drive because I love the food. And, Bass Pro is right next door which makes the trip even more worthwhile. We were on our way to an event, and were looking for something along the way for dinner. My wife selected this place. First off, Monday is a great day to go to Ted's Montana Grill in Bolingbrook. We walked in right around 5:00 pm, and the place had plenty of seats. It wasn't empty - it had a stream of people coming, eating and going, but it wasn't slammed. The menu is pretty diverse, including a beef filet and a bison filet. I went for the bison filet, which isn't advertised as tasting gamey, but with more flavor. My wife went for their bison meatloaf - she likes meatloaf, and this was a good sized portion of it. For sides, I had a loaded baked potato, and they ask you what to load it with so I went with sour cream, butter, chives and that was it. My wife had their vegetables. The steak and meatloaf arrived - I ordered the steak medium rare, which was how it was served. The baked potato was properly cooked and wasn't hard. My wife enjoyed her meatloaf, she gave me a taste - yes, it tasted like meatloaf. She really liked her veggies. The tables are covered with a northwest territory map paper, which was a nice touch. When the tables are cleared a new piece of paper is applied. The interior is a lot of wood and paneling, not quite dark but comfortable. The seating in the booth was comfortable, and the service was good. My only mistake was eating before I took pictures. Darn. Sorry. read more

We used to go to the Naperville location of Ted's all the time (R.I.P.), so for my dad's birthday he wanted to come here: still not far, and of course the menu is the same. Everyone enjoyed their meals: ribeye steaks, filet mignon and bison short ribs. For dessert we split the berry cheesecake and strawberry shortcake (both were tasty but I preferred the latter). The restaurant was not busy when we got there, but there was a lot of noise going on in the kitchen that could be heard at our table (yelling/singing). Overall, Ted always provides a good steak, so we'll be back. read more

So I drop my wife off to get a booth at lunch time while I park. The guy doing the seating tries to seat her in the bar even though only one booth was occupied. So she says she doesn't want to sit in the bar and he marches her past all those empty booths and seats her in the last one, right next to the restrooms. When I come in I take one look, flag down a waitress and ask for a different booth, which we get. And then they bring our salad and main courses at the same time. Revenge? Anyway the food was great as usual (hence the three stars - also excellent waitress) but management needs to do some training in customer relations. read more

I love this place my brother has crutches so his broke and he has a disability where he can't really walk without crutches so the waitress let us take the front seat which was nice of her the outside was great we came from IKEA and my dad asked my mom what do you want for dinner and my mom said we can try this place. Ambiance is outdated now - they could use a refresh of everything! The cook, wait staff, decor, etc. we felt like our hot food was not freshly prepared but instead made ahead and tried to do a reheat. For the price paid, not worth it to go to this restaurant.
