We tried a Blue Hawaiian, which was not up to par, though ok, for the environment. Initially, we were greeted by Country Music, in a supposed "Tiki" establishment. They do have a few nice tiki roofs and even two of the staff (I assume the owners, were wearing Hawaiian shirts). Televisions were abundant, unfortunately, the bathroom situation at present is "mobile". Upscale port-a-pottys. The string lights they have outside, big bulbs and over half of them off when we went. Now for the service, we were greeted by a sign that said seat yourself, it was rather busy, so we decided to sit at the bar. We saw five bartenders, some of whom saw us sit down and get done with the menu, but they seemed more dedicated to their phones than their jobs. I had to get their attention. Five of them and not a single one seemed to care initially. Moving on, the place is right on a lake and if they actually put effort in and promoted it, this could be a spot. In it's current state it needs serious help and some better quality drinks and servers. I can't comment on the food, saw bad reviews and considering the "Tiki" drinks on offer, I didn't want to waste any more money. Hopefully they'll take this review into consideration and improve.

For example they offer three different kinds of vodka with Tito's being one of them. It's on the fourth floor of the hotel with a view of the western sky for sunsets along with the sports fields. There is a single TV at the far left of the bar (see pic), so this is not ideal to watch sports on TV. No sound or closed caption. Outside it is just plain hot this time of year until the sun goes down. They have fans but for some reason they weren't on and the temp was 95. There were a couple people sitting outside but they didn't last long. Around sunset I'm sure this is the place to be. There are multiple sofas and areas to sit outside. Also a large Jenga stacking block game is available to play. There are at least two larger TVs outside. The parking lot indicates parking should be paid for. There are numerous signs with giant QR codes to do this. Since we were only there for an hour to grab a single drink we didn't pay for parking. When there are large tournaments going on at the neighboring sports complex I'm sure the hotel does a better job at patrolling who parks at the hotel and maybe then expects parking to be paid for. Drinks: happy hour is from 5p (when they open) to 7p. There is no happy hour menu (this would be a suggestion to make things easier on both the bartender and the customer). We were there at happy hour so took advantage of $8 white sangria and $8 cranberry with house vodka. They also give 10% off to locals. They normally have cards they provide for future use, but the bartender indicated they ran out and were on order. Food: There is a few food choices, including a smash burger and appetizers. They also had a couple cake slices on special. We didn't eat so can't speak to quality or time before ready. Service was average. There was only one bartender at 5:30p on a Wednesday with no sports going on at the complex. We got our drinks fairly quickly. They were tasty but served in small cocktail glasses and not much alcohol. For happy hour discounted pricing this is commonplace. I will be back to try it again, hopefully for a sunset this time!

The first time I visited, I had never been there before and asked which beer was the most popular or what people ordered the most. Instead of answering my question, he simply pointed at the menu on the wall and said, "That's our menu." I wasn't asking what beers you had, I was asking for a recommendation. It came across as dismissive. On another visit, I had a wonderful experience with a female bartender. She was friendly, accommodating, and made my drink exactly how I requested. Unfortunately, on a later visit I ended up with the same male bartender again. I ordered a cocktail and politely asked if he could make it a little sweeter. His response was, "We make it how we make it." I told him that was completely fine and just asked if he could make it slightly sweeter. He replied, "I'll try." The drink came out with no sweetness at all, and it honestly didn't seem like any effort was made to accommodate a simple request. I don't expect every request to be possible, but I do expect friendly customer service and a willingness to help when it's something so minor. Thankfully, the atmosphere, events, and the rest of the staff have been great enough that we continue coming back. I just hope the customer service is more consistent because Starkey Market is otherwise such a wonderful place.
