This is a unique experience. The waitress (Peyton) was efficient and sweet. The sides, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and corn are served family style. There are five meat choices and you don't get a menu. My kids ordered chicken tenders and fried chicken and loved them. The Sanger location of Babes is a very well managed family style restaurant specializing in fried chicken, smoked chicken, chicken fried steak, fried catfish, chicken tenders and pot roast. Regardless of which main dish you choose, the meal comes with unlimited side dish's of mash potatoes and gravy, creme corn, green beans and biscuits. All the food at Babes is delicious and the service is great. My favorite choices are the fried and smoked chicken and all the sides. Try the biscuits with butter and sorghum molasses...unbelievably good. It's also a fun place for kids with the waitresses periodically singing and doing the hokey pokey line dance. If you're looking for home style cooking served family style, Babe's is your place. Went for the pot roast (which is leaving the menu) on a Sunday afternoon, but they were out. Then, some how, they ran out of chicken fried steak!?!? Don't really understand how you run out of chicken fried steak. My fried chicken was overcooked, but as my friend said, it's better than undercooked. I guess. Veggies were great and plentiful as were the rolls. Never really had a bad meal at any of the Babe's locations I've visited, but my visits seem to be less and less frequent these days. Maybe there's a reason. read more

It's a fun place to visit and the staff sings exceptionally well. There is usually plenty to take home for a second meal. Definitely a must try if you're ever in Texas. Coming in, it has the sort of look of a place that people would have dined at in the 1800's. Servers and hostesses are extremely friendly in a genuine manner. Very welcoming, pleasant experience. In my opinion, the sides are the star of the restaurant, not the chicken. The green beans, mashed potatoes and corn are extremely fresh, quality stuff. I wasn't impressed with the fried chicken. It wasn't mind-blowing stuff. It was rather average, but that could have been because my guts were stuffed at that point. I did like the roast chicken a lot. That stood out, in my opinion. I had no idea until the end of my meal that it was all you can eat. Well, that didn't matter, I was done after the first round. Great restaurant, definitely recommend if you're in Texas. read more

Always delicious as usual! The main meal portions are always large & the sides are bottomless family style, you just can't go wrong at all. I usually have no complaints, but I do have two this time. We sat where we could see the kitchen & as the waitress brought me my dessert(while I was still in the middle of me meal, I know she was probably cut, but we were still a table) I watched her lick her fingers after serving my banana pudding. The only other complaint is that if you are going to do the Hokey Pokey, I get that you don't want to do it, but don't look like you hate your life. We ate at Babes today for lunch. The food was delicious as always. The service was great. We took two desserts home. The coconut meringue was delicious but the pineapple upside down cake was burned. Not just a little burned but all we could taste was burned topping. I wouldn't recommend that dessert and had we eaten it there I would have sent it back. read more

I can say with a smile on my face I have never had a bad serving here. They have a nice selection of chicken or catfish to choose from to start ya out for your main meal. I forgot whom the waitress was but she was sweet and kept up on the table for sides and refills. The one in Carrollton is always great as well but love the huge Rooster out front of the the country town of Sanger. Ordered the smoked chicken which was fantastic along with tasting the catfish of the gf's with the tartar sauce which was great as well! I have never left there thinking I over paid or still was hungry. Heck I have some of the smoked chicken in the fridge I am looking forward to snacking on tonight or having tomorrow. Stuffed and prob good for the rest of the night though feeling right as of now. First visit to a Babe's, not what I expected, this is more of a family dinner place that what I would call a full service restaurant, but it works. There we just two of us, we ordered the Fried Chicken, which came with Salad, Green Beans, Corn, Mashed Potatoes with gravy and biscuits, which is shared by everyone sitting at your table. The chicken was enough for three, but very good, loved the salad dressing on just Iceberg lettuce, corn and beans were good, the potatoes and gravy is a different story, both were BLAND and the potatoes were OVER WHIPPED. My wife and I are both seventy or better. Most of the time when we eat out, we normally get a to go box because we seldom eat everything that is served. At Babes, all you can take with you is the meat part of your meal and you have to put it in a bag which is a bit of a problem if you have chicken fried steak with gravy on it. We had to leave all the extra vegetables that were served to us because it is against their policy to allow you to take them in a take out box. I would be alright with this if we ordered extra portions but we didn't. All we had was what was served to us to start off with. They surely are not going to put the leftovers back to be served to someone else so I don't understand why you can't take them also. I saw a couple of ladies that had brought plastic containers and loaded up all of the left overs and took them with them which I thought was rude until I found out about their policy on left overs. It is not cheap to eat there but I don't have a problem with the prices or the quality of the food but I don't agree with their policy on taking your left over food that they served you to begin without you asking for extra helpings. To me it would be better to allow people to take them instead of throwing them in the trash. We ate the Babes in Granbury and they didn't say anything when we asked for to go box. They bought us boxes and we took our extra food.For this reason, we will never go back to the Sanger location or any other one that makes you waste food. Went last night for the first time, and have lived in Sanger for 15 years. We were pleased with the chicken, and the sides were a little plain. I had the CFS and it was very tough and bland. I should have stuck with the chicken. I wanted to say however the best part of our meal was the service. We had a waitress named Kendra, and she was wonderful. She was all over us, we ran out of nothing and she had a smile on her face every time she came to our table. She made me forget my CFS was tough, and I left there very content. Well done Babes.
