11:20 arrive. 11:22 about, place order. 11:55 get order. 30 minutes to get a 'veggie sandwich" and a chicken plate that was ONE piece of flattened breast. I go up there... where's our food? Oh its being plated, he said. STILL took from then another 5 min to bring it out. At the time we got there there were only 2 other people, they were not SLAMMED. Fries burned the crap out of my tongue! WAY too hot to eat. Here just put my tongue IN the fryer. Let them cool a second before serving?? I thought did I get half a sandwich? I see one half. The other? Splayed open as it was placed bad in basket, and fries IN my sandwich wilting the lettuce with the molten balls of potatoes. My fingers sunk into wet soggy sponge bread. Why? Clearly it was made first and SAT for ahalf hour. They actually said "Oh must be the cucumbers. I said no, its cuz it sat too long. The bread was COLD and rubbery, and this was listed under the "HOT SANDWICHES" menu. It had a giant blob of microthin sliced cucumber, lettuce LITERALLY ONE sliver, of onion. And I mean like a SINGLE ring not SLICE. and tomatoes. No cheese , no mayo, some gross vinegary mustard spread. It should have been the CUCUMBER sandwich. Who puts this as a hot sandwich? "Oh it comes on fresh grilled bun." No, it came on brown rye, and it was COLD rubbery toast. I sent it back, no way I wait 30 min and then get crap. They apologize for the mess up and ask do I want them to make another one? No, I don't want to eat, its why I went to lunch. I asked for cheese on it, they say ok, as who doesn't put cheese on a veggie sandwich? And my replacement comes, WITH NO CHEESE ON IT!!! Write sh!t down! The bread BARELY toasted. Grilled my ass. The people who came in and sat by us 20 min into our wait, got their food in 10 min. They had HOT sandwiches! So, really? 10 min for everyone there, and ours takes over 30 minutes? How convenient to have you PAY FIRST, they got their money, then they can be lazy TERRIBLE service! DON'T GO THERE. I will NEVER RETURN.. TO not comp my soggy sandwich that I had to wait for, is beyond terrible service. (LOL the photos are hilarious... its primarily a SMOKEHOUSE and they put up taco pics.) read more

I had eaten there a few weeks ago and it was ok so I decided to go back for the buffet as I was in a hurry. I walked in at 11:30 and there was no food out on the buffet. They said it would be right out. First out of the gate was white rice. 10 minutes later here come the ribs which that had just pulled out of the refrigerator, obvious leftovers. After a few more minutes out came the collard greens. Or watery lettuce. Then the red beans that had no flavor. The slaw was ok but the fried chicken was something to write home about. It tasted remarkably like fried fish. Apparently the use the same grease for both. Never did see the potato salad. They never offered to refill my tea. $12 for a lunch that was gross. read more

This place is very average at best. Anyone that's giving the food or atmosphere 5 stars is a down-right plant. I can see giving it a two or maybe 3 on their best day. It literally took them 45 min to have my to-go order ready. It looks like a family owned operation, which I'd love to support but it felt like it was everyone's first day on the job. They advertise being open at 10, I arrive a little after 12 and they're still setting up with two tables of people waiting for the buffet to be placed. Maybe this place will be better a few months from now after they work out the bugs, but I'd stay away for now. I had the pulled pork plate with greens and beans. AMAZING AMAZING food, if you live in Richland or not make the trip you will not regret it. They have burgers, BBQ, even a little Mexican on the menu. I went around 3 a little closer to closing and they weren't to busy but I still had to wait quite a while about 40mins or so. But the food was worth even second I had to wait. We had a gift card for Baby J's and thought it'd be worth a try. I got the pulled pork sandwich with salad and fries, and my husband got the Mississippi pulled pork sandwich with fries and New Orleans rice. Our food was ready quick and was delicious! It is the most tender pork I've ever had, and the buns were homemade. My husband loved the Cole slaw on his sandwich and loved that his sandwich didn't need any extra sauce. The sauces were a little runny, but the flavor was incredible. By far the best BBQ I've had in the tri-cities. We will definitely be coming back for more! read more

Baby J's has some delicious food. Haven't had anything here I didn't like. It can be really busy around lunch time with the buffet and people coming from Hanford. Went to Baby J's for lunch. Two people were in line ahead of us. All but three of the other customers seated in the restaurant were eating. We placed our order for a salad and a BLT at 12:13 PM. We received our food at 12:52 PM. I counted 6 people working. At no time while we waited were we offered a refill on water or any explanation for the delay for two very simple items. The two bus boys spent the majority of their time socializing with what appeared to be family members (owners perhaps) who were eating than attending to customers while the young woman who took our order was busting her tail attending to walk-in customers, taking orders (in person and on the phone) and bringing food to the table. It was not clear what the other 5 workers were doing. Overall - horrible customer service; disorganized staff; nor one appeared to be in charge except the people eating who appeared to have some association with the restaurant, but were oblivious to the horrible service. Clearly, leadership is needed. And the menu is too large to support reasonable service. On the positive side - Food presentation and was flavor was very good, but not worth the wait. Will not repeat nor recommend. read more

I have to say I ate at Baby J's for the first time this afternoon. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, Potato Salad, and BBQ Beans. I will be referring customers for life. The environment was very relaxed and the service was excellent, I was able to talk to one of the owners and I can tell that they really care about what their customers think. I have only been here twice the first time I went to Baby J's the meal was wonderful the service was wonderful did take a little time to get the food but was definitely worth the wait. However the second time I went to this establishment there was an employee that made me feel incredibly uncomfortable during my dining experience, while I was dining at the said establishment I was made to feel very very uncomfortable there were not many other people in the restaurant at this time and I had sat at a table with my friends I was with and the employee and the owner made me feel like It was an issue for me to be dining at the restaurant I'm very disappointed no establishment should ever make a customer feel uncomfortable because of an employee's personal issues. I'm very appalled I've truly never been made to feel this uncomfortable in my life while dining or being out anywhere. What made the entire situation worse is that the manager aided the employee in making me so incredibly uncomfortable I barely finished my meal and left. Shame on you baby js. read more

Based on previous reviews I decided to try this place for lunch today. They opened at 10 am, but when I arrived at 11:45 am the buffet line was not set up, and it took a LONG time to get my pulled pork sandwich and fries - probably more than 15 minutes after ordering; there were only two other customers in the place when I ordered. The pulled pork was delicious, the fries pretty good but although fresh cut were a little soggy. The cole slaw dressing was soupy, and there was too much and too large slices of red cabbage. I'd like to try the BBQ ribs, so I might go back. read more

Tried for the first time on a Wednesday afternoon. Took just over 20 minutes to get our food and there were only a few customers in the place. By the time we were reasonably frustrated with the wait, the food arrived...and it was good. I had the pulled pork plate with New Orleans rice and fries. My wife had BBQ chicken with coleslaw and sweet potatoes. And it was all very good. The food gets a 4+...the slow service gets a 2-....we average out at 3. If you're not in a hurry and are not on the edge of starvation - worth a visit. read more

I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich plate with hand cut fries and baked beans. The Sandwich was alright, not impressed for the wait. The hand cut fries were undercooked and frankly disgusting. Food is good but for a place in the heart of Hanford business district, SLOW. I had an hour lunch and it took 45 minutes to make a clubhouse sandwich with a side of slaw. I had to eat it in the car on the way back to work. I RARELY get to eat lunch out so it just sucked that I had to eat in my hot car while trying to drive. read more

The only thing this business has going for it is it's proximity to govt buildings and the lack of other food options. I ordered my food and almost an hour later I finally got it. I waited patiently up until they started serving customers their food before mine. Those people had ordered up to 30 minutes after me. That's when I got upset. Oh and get this, she told them "Oh it will only be 10 minutes." (it was actually 20 minutes). The girl at the counter told me, "well we were out of chicken and had to make some more". So tell me that up front so I can pick something else that won't take my entire lunch break. Your food is only average, and I literally could have driven to the other end of the city got my food from somewhere else and driven back and eaten it before you served me. Not even sorry that you suck at customer service, and incredibly pissed that I tipped up front. Not only that but I kid you not, the portion they gave me was less than a handful. I like to be positive, so let's start with a compliment. I have eaten at this place twice- ordered burgers both times. They are very tasty, lots of meat and condiments, and must be fairly lean as they aren't the perverbial "oozers". Tried a side of fries. You will have to like a homemade, deep fried, thick cut fry with skin on to go for this one. Many fries not cooked enough, and a lot of oil absorbed into the serving. Tried a side of beans. This one was a huge disappointment. Came in around 11:30 and told to wait for the beans to warm. When I finally got them, they were cold and had zero taste. The beans must have come right out of a Van Camp tin can. Speaking of waiting, both times I was basically the only one in the shop, and both times, it took over a half hour to get the meal. By the way, the owners are nice and gave me a sample of the BBQ pork. However, if this is their signature dish, they should try doing a different menu. But I do wish them the best of luck. read more
