Today is January 10, 2025. This is my first visit to this lovely restaurant. I don't know how long they've been in this location. I went just before lunch today and was surprised that I'm the only customer for now. I hope people who work in local businesses will begin to frequent it, because this is very high-quality Mexican food. Staff greeted me in a friendly fashion, nice ambience, very relaxed. A fun menu. Decided on Mexican food and this was a close by spot. We walked inside and were met with an overwhelming odor. Not sure whether it was paint or Lysol. The menu had a lot to offer. We ordered the Indian Taco & Tamale Plate. Drinks came from a cooler - no diet drinks, or tea. We were limited to water, coke or some Mexican Sodas. Water it is. Food was good. The tamales had the right amount of masa and plenty of meat. The Indian Taco was tasty. Lunch could have been enjoyable. We had a difficult time finding many restaurants open for dinner on Saturday in the off season. Luckily, we were saved by La Zenita, and judging by the stream of customers around us we weren't the only ones. The menu was plentiful and it felt like we couldn't go wrong. The Indian taco was delicious - a doughier fry bread than I was expecting but that just meant it could soak up all the amazing sauce. The green sauce in particular was heavenly. Plus, I got the Indian taco as vegetarian by opting for just beans on it. My husband enjoyed his al pastor tacos and his only nit-pick was him wanting the marinade to come through more. The staff were also friendly and on the ball despite the constant stream of customers. Fantastic! Great little spot to satisfy your taco needs. We didn't have time to try much, only the birria tacos but they were amazing. 4 nice sized tacos, big bowl of consume, limes, cilantro, and onions! Rice was nice and fluffy, perfectly flavored. I ordered at this restaurant restaurant I had placed a to go order and the total for a chicken BLT the total was 18.32 $ I feel that's pretty pricey for me it should of been at least 12$ and with no drink doesn't sound right whatever tho but the salsa was average and the portion size filled the plate . To be honest I have stopped posting Yelp reviews- when Yelp was considering adding the report racism button. I had to come back out of Yelp reporting retirement to give this place my FULL 5 stars. First it is sparse and neat. It was super clean. The food portions were amazing and well a bit much! :) the lovely lady running the kitchen (I suspect she is owner) made us FRESH chips - not kidding - while we waited for our order. I ordered a horchata - my parting words to her was "Tu Horchata es mi favorita!" - it was the best I've had. If you expect white table cloth and table side - move on. If you want to sit down for your Mexican grandma's table, and be filled with amazing fare- go here. I was in abq for a week and ate there twice. Was wandering around the neighborhood waiting for my class at FUSE to start, and stubbled into this place. The place wasn't very busy but it's a really cool space. Ordered some street tacos with red chile but I ended up just using the homemade salsa, really tasty. Parking wasn't apparent, but if you drive around it, there is plenty of street parking. We ordered a bunch of tacos. They were fantastic. And the tamales. This is a new family owned restaurant. It is run by a mom and her two adult sons. As soon as we entered we were warmly greeted by the family. The menu was explained and then my wife and I were asked what level of spice we like. The dinning setting is very relaxed and informal. Our meals were then custom made for us. The flavors were incredible and you could definitely taste central Mexico in the meals. The meals where of generous portions and made with pride and love. The family genuinely cared if we enjoyed our food and if we wanted or needed anything else. The prices are very reasonable and they serve breakfast lunch and dinner.
