Is it Silva's Steakhouse or is Bacalhau? Both names appear on the front of the building. It looks like Bacalhau is the name of the market side of the operation, while Silva's is the name of the name of the restaurant side. My google search of this place told me that they had a picanha skewers for a very reasonable price. When I went there, it wasn't on the menu. They did have a picanha with salad that I ordered. The picanha was cold by the time I got back to my hotel to eat it. It did have a good beefy flavor. The salad was okay, but, they didn't give me dressing for it. It was an okay dinner. The picanha was good. Service was okay. Okay seems to be the rating for this place. read more

I bought two packages of frozen cheese ball and it's moldy the frozen cheese ball. Its disgusting! Bacalhau grill is known for selling expired stuff, but moldy frozen food, that was the first time I have seen. This BS has to end! They covered the real expired date and put a red/pink label on top with a new date. They are professional, they even cleaned with alcohol or something to clean the old date off, you barely can see it, but it still has some marks of the old date. As Brazilian I feel very offended by this market! They think that we are stupid or what? I have bought expired flour, expired Easter eggs, expired chocolate, now moldy frozen food, that was definitely the last time I spent my money there. The restaurant was remodeled and use to be Bacalhau Grill. It looks beautiful and the market with all the traditional food and ingredients and wine is located on the other side of the wall. The staff are kind and helpful. We decided to come with our family to dinner. The steak platter, steak sandwich and the chicken fingers with the French fries and chicken Parmesan and Bacalhau Gomes Sa were very good. Unfortunately the other dishes needed some help. The pork sandwich was soggy and the marinade was not tasty and pieces of pork were disappointing. It was not the traditional Acorian food. The other steak platter my family found to be chewy. And none of the salads came with dressing and they didn't give us any options. When we asked for Ranch we got Cesar dressing 2 times. Some water glass we were provide were dirty 2 times. We had a reservation but they seemed very unprepared for us and there were only 2 other tables seated. It was unfortunate. read more

As a Brazilian, I was looking forward to my meal but I found the meat to be very tough which is not typical of the picanha. The side dishes were tasty. For dessert, I tried the Romeo and Juliet which was well balanced and not very rich. The staff was friendly and there are a lot of options for dishes and sandwiches and other Brazilian street foods which make this a great stop. Next door there is a mini grocery store that sells a lot of Brazilian and Portuguese products. I left at the time when a musician was setting up but it's nice that they are beginning to provide entertainment as well. Lastly, there are several TVs in the restaurant inside and it's very dark. I think customers would be happier with less TVs and more natural lighting. The outside area is pretty but it wasn't set up for sitting. I would love to see the quality of the meat improve so this can become one of my favorite spots. read more

I knew this place as Bacalhau Grill a while back. It seems they serve the same brazilian and portuguese dishes under this new name. The menu indicates that most items take 15-20 minutes. But my takeout order was ready in no more than 10 minutes, on a slow Monday of course. I ordered the codfish with cream, a truly addicting dish. The taste has not changed, super creamy and buttery, and strangely more affordable than before. It even came with a small side salad. There are a couple things that have changed though. The menus are in English, which makes it so much easier to order. Also, the restaurant is open later, so I can actually grab dinner at dinnertime now (Bacalhau Grill used to close at 4pm). Woohoo! This 5-star review is mainly for the delicious codfish with cream (aka bacalhau de natas) and stress-free takeout experience. read more

Sadly, this place may have been renovated to look like a fine-dining establishment but it was better before when it was a "hole-in-the-wall" type of restaurant. The service fell short in all counts. The service before was a lot better. I asked 4 X before water & our drinks came. It's not that that crowded & I dislike when servers say they are busy. Not acceptable. Please train your staff. the picahna was dry! Other dishes just lacked flavor & chicken parm/melanese was a little dry. And how do you not serve the sampler anymore? And no feijoada? I've been eating here for years. I liked this place before the renovation, and I like it now. The restaurant looks good and the food is still good. My wife and I showed up for lunch and had a couple of sandwiches (1 Bifana, 1 Portuguese steak). Both were on fresh bread, both were very good (so were the fries). Throw in a couple of Super Bock drafts and it's a great lunch! Reasonably priced as well. We will definitely return...maybe for dinner. read more

We went shopping for some sweet bread at the supermarket. So we decided to have lunch at Silvas. Normally I would ordered a steak,but today is Friday. So we ordered Coffee fish fritters to start. We ordered Gomes de SA for lunch. The fritters came out quickly,but were served warm. they were tasty.more potato and a little bits of finely shredded cod. It would have been better if it was served hot. the lunch was ok. A small portion of actual bacalhau ,a big scoop rice and a small salad. It was a little dry for my taste. lm used to it swimming in olive oil. But maybe this is a Brazilian version. For a small restaurant it was crowded. I think most come here for the steak. Very dissatisfied with my experience here a few days ago. They remodeled the dining area but have failed in all other aspects. We walked in and all the cooks and a few other guys were standing behind the counter but we were not greeted. Finally a server came and sat us, there was only one other table seated. We were given waters but two out of the three cups were dirty. Food residue and a slimy film on both the outside and inside of the cups. We asked for one new cup and that cup was dirty as well, even though we let the server know the first cup was dirty. The food was a huge decline from what it used to be when it was bacalhau grill. The bacalhau was so oily I could barely eat it. The bifana sandwich was not a bifana sandwich and barely edible, the sauce on it was not good. We also got Portuguese queijadas from the store side and they were rock hard. Not exaggerating, we just threw them away at home. Overall this is not what it used to be, not even close. read more

We finally had a chance to try this place . Great location, easy to find and plenty of parking. The rodízio was amazing. Everything was well seasoned, plenty of selections. The ambience is great. The waiters were amazing and on point . Kids under 8 do not pay. Compared to the other steak houses this place is much more affordable. We will be definitely be coming back soon. I went in with two specific dishes that I wanted catered. I took the names and the photos of the dishes. I waited about 45 or so minutes confirming with the restaurants employee and the Manager what it is that I requesting. Making sure they could make these dishes. I placed an order over a month or so ago. Paid the entire amount 2 weeks before the event. It was not cheap what so ever. When the food was picked up. It wasn't prepared yet. At that time it was already 30 minutes after the scheduled pick up time. There was a wait of about and hour or so. When the food arrived at my event, both dishes were incorrect and they were not at all what was spoken to them about. Very disappointed as I had guest arriving and I could not have all 40 servings returned. This was simply horrible. The food didn't taste at all similar to what I requested either. Pure dissatisfaction! Think twice before ordering a catered meal from this place. read more

Went here tonight to try out the "new" Silva's steak house . Been here a few times under old name . The place was updated Nd looked great . we sat down quickly and ordered . I noticed the menu had wait times from 10-25 mins on each of the dishes . All 3 of us ordered from and 30 something Portuguese woman . My wife ordered the Portuguese sandwhich and codfish fritters as an appetizer. I ordered beef with grilled onions and my son there beef parmigiana. The cod fish came out in 10 mins and my wife's sandwich came out a few minutes later . Her sandwich was listed at 10 mins wait time and my sons and my plate was listed at 15-25 minute wait time so we waited . My wife ate half her food and waited to eat the rest for our food when we got ours . At this point it had been nearly 25 mins and we figured it would be out shortly . 20 mins later our food never came and the waitress I had not seen since she brought my wife's food . I asked the other waiter that was walking by if he could check on our food since the waitress was MIA . He came back and told us the order never went in for my sons and my food . I was like WTF . They offered to make it but we were tired of waiting and left . Not one apology from the waiter or owners cook nothing ! The made us pay for what we got and we left . Don't think we will be back even though my wife said food was good . They need to do better . read more

There's a few things that are weird with this place. The actual entrance is on the side of the building even though there's a sign in the front that says to use the side entrance after 6 PM. The front entrance is just locked and covered in a black film, makes it seem like the place is closed. As for the food we had the experience meal and unfortunately it wasn't very great. Meat was pretty overcooked even though we asked for medium rare. The bread they brought out before the meal was very cold. The service was almost non existent, getting checked on once even though no one else was eating there. Had to ask for the check multiple times but it never came, we eventually just got up to pay at the counter. This meal just really was not worth it at all. Possibly the all you can eat option is worth it but it was not available at 3 pm nor did we see that option anywhere. read more

We had the pleasure of having dinner tonight, my husband and I. We noticed a new restaurant passing by over on Alum Rock -- Little Portugal and thought to drop by and we are so happy we did.. First things first.. the staff were all so unbelievably kind. Really felt like we were eating at a families house. We were looking to eat the all you can eat meat (rodizio) and they must have brought us out like 11-12 different meats - well seasoned and absolutely delicious! we got to choose several Brazilian/Portuguese side dishes that were all so delicious. We didn't know a few but they so kindly explained what each one was. They would get so excited about how yummy the dish was that we went from ordering 2-3 to like 7 lol so happy we did. We were so full but the end of dinner but when they brought us the desert selection .. omg. Get the Cocada (coconut mixed with condensed milk, sugar and eggs) SO GOOD!! and the açaí bowl... DEVINE! best we ever had! honestly! please take your time to visit this great place! we can't wait to go back. read more
