IMHO Los Garcias has moved to a new location, which is much bigger and has much better parking. The vibe is the same, great food, friendly service, colorful decor, and happy customers. When we arrived around 5:30ish, the restaurant was packed, but we managed to get a table for four, close to the bar and in view of the many big screen TVs showing the current sport games. Drink orders were taken, a basket of yummy chips and 3 bowls of really HOT salsa brought to the table. The menfolk each ordered the Fajitas Mixta (shrimp, carne asada, and chicken), and we women ordered the 3-item combo plates served with rice & beans. I treated myself to Chile relleno, beef enchilada, and crunchy taco, $24.95. In the former location, when the plates arrived, you were warned not to touch the VERY HOT plates. This visit, my plate was just warm to the touch and the food was warm, not hot. Usually, I had to wait a few minutes before I could safely bite into my food. Service as always was genuine and friendly. You can tell, they are happy to see you and serve you. However, the service was a little slow due to the packed restaurant. It took us awhile to flag people down to bring us utensils, to-go boxes and our checks. I'm sure this will improve as they get used to larger crowds in their new environment. Overall, we will definitely come back!!! Their menu is huge and I need to try something new next time!

Update: Los Garcias Restaurant's new location! The Old Oakland location is closed. They still are in a soft opening phase. But the restaurant is open. The bar is nice with counter seating. Their agua fresca machine did not arrive yet, which is what I wanted to get. So, I ordered a regular taco with al pastor. But the kitchen forgot my order and the owner was nice enough to upgrade my order to a super taco: served with your choice of meat, whole beans, onions, cilantro, tomato, avocado, and cheese on a homemade corn/flour tortilla. I didn't see any avocado. Oh well, it was a upgrade from what I originally ordered, so I can't complain. Support your local business.

New Location!!!! What an upgrade on location, better parking and more space interior & exterior. Food: Nachos - carne asada which was loaded and chips are so fresh. Soft Taco - carne asada, fresh handmade tortilla, avocado was perfect, wish it had sour cream Enchilada plate - perfect good amount of carne asada Crispy chicken tacos - amazing Fish tacos - super fresh, great garlic flavor Drinks: Cadillac Margarita - amazing size and flavor, hands down the best bar tenders Pins Colada: perfect for a hot day Mexican Coke bottles Service: always great, they listen perfectly about our big order Because it was opening day for the new Location, they gave us cookies Hint: entrance can be deceiving, it looks like it's closed so just keep walking in main entrance off of parking. Not the patio entrance.

Had an opportunity to enjoy Sunday lunch at new location food is good however disappointing for the lack of service it's still remains the same. We had to ask for refills asked for chips to enjoy with our food never made it to our table waited to ask about dessert no one came by. Not sure if they just don't want to hire someone to help with refills salsa chips drink checking on each table in a reasonable time frame. Was hoping to give an exceptional review.

It's been a while since I have had some delicious Mexican food in the bay area and this is a diamond in the rough. I didn't even know this place was here until I read about it in an article about them moving due to limited parking. This is the type of restaurant that I love to support. Just good ol home cookin!! I had the wet burrito con carne with a half red and half green sauce. Let me tell you, the carne asada was the best I ever had. It had that char flavor with amazing seasoning and it was juicy goodness. Everyone here is friendly and the service was great. I spoke about the new location that they will be moving to right next to California sourdough and the beautiful lady who rang me up was super excited about it. I am too because its closer to me now and I can eat there more often. They should be relocating in June!! Gastro Maestro Approoooooved!!!!!!!

Honestly I used to like the place. Don't get me wrong, i like this new place at Murphy ave. Great location. Unfortunately, my experience today 8/8 wasn't the best. Food took forever, soda tasted bad, my plate was missing what I asked for. And they didn't bother to say anything. Waitress made feel I wasn't supposed to be asking for anything. She had a bit of attitude. Not coming back.

I came here yesterday to check out their new location! I enjoyed the warm welcome when I entered the restaurant but its also a combination of a family friendly sports bar vibe. I ordered the fish Ceviche and the food was fresh and tasty. Chavelas are always on point!! They need some time to set up their new patio but i look forward to seeing how it turns out soon!

Great food. They start you off with chips and three salsas. The breakfast platters are big and filling. Handmade tortillas. Lots of care and love. They moved from their original spot into this larger space. Nicely renovated, bright bar, and a stage. Would recommend for their food, big enough space for larger groups, also.

So good....makes you break out and dance to the jukebox.

Garcias has moved!! Better parking, same great food, great service served by the same great people!! Looking forward to the patio that's in process!! "Buena comida, buena vida!!"

Menu with new pricing, nearly a $20 burrito now yikes!

Although I enjoy the food, today was not a good visit to the new location. The staff seemed overwhelmed and took far too long to get around to taking our order, we had to leave. It might be time for extra help to be hired so they don't lose too many customers.

    Wife senior deal great

The senior stuff off the hook. You can't get a better deal can anything other then you can do it or not but for the food and the price it's off the hook

They do take orders via phone for to-go pickup. Not sure that you could order ahead if you want to eat there because the place is fairly small and gets full in the evenings.

    Best Mexican food?

Everyone is different in their tastes and likes, but for us, this is hands down the best Mexican restaurant for authentic Food. The service isn't great, but, I can deal with that.

There are some loner clubs if you don't have your own otherwise bringing your set is recommended. We had a bunch of appetizers that were all excellent. We came on a slow night too so no issues with drinks/food orders but I can see that being an issue when it gets lively(then again what restaurant doesn't have this issue when busy?). We had two different servers come to our table who didn't seem to be communicating with each other. As a result, we never received an order of sliders, yet they still appeared on our bill. The bartender also struggled with very basic cocktails. A simple cosmopolitan and a lemon drop -- both extremely common drinks -- seemed to cause confusion, which was surprising. As for the food, it was nothing memorable. One friend ordered a smash burger that was so smashed it included the bun, which I've never seen before. The wings I ordered were small and underwhelming -- five wings for $15 felt overpriced and disappointing. Overall, I don't understand how this place has a 4.5-star rating on Yelp. I left pretty disappointed. The only thing that seems to keep people coming back is the scantily clad servers rather than the food or service.

The fries were actually the best part. I had the nachos and the chips def needed salt. I ate about half because I was starving but they would've been better with more beans and sauce as it was still quite bland. The nachos look better than they tasted that's for sure. Atmosphere 5/5 - This was the best place for hanging out with friends and it had plenty for the kids to run off and do. And they knew we were done because the waiter came and took half our plates when we were finished. The place was practically dead so I don't know what the hold up was. I'm sure this place gets packed when there's events going on. The food and prices were not my favorite. I don't live nearby so I obviously wouldn't make the trip back out just to eat here again. The only thing note worthy was the atmosphere since the kids had a blast hanging out with their friends.

Maybe it would have benefited from a quick trip through the oven before eating, but I wasn't expecting it to lose much crispness on such a short drive. Flavor-wise, it was good, but not quite memorable enough to put it among the best pizzas I've had. I also tried the brisket and Arthur pizzas. I have tried several items such as street tacos, quesabirria tacos, burritos, Barbacoa (soup) and menudo (soup). My favorites are the weekend red menudo which has no hominy, but wish it did and the burrito (in both sizes). Menudo is one of the best in the area (I shouldn't say that too loud, but it's true). It's not watered down like other restaurants, it's full bodied and meats (tripe and pata) are soft. I do wish we had an option of hominy that we can request. Burrito have been filling as I have tried several meats. It's heavy to the hand and filling to anyone's belly. Sometimes I enjoy for 2 mini meals in a day. Quesa birria tacos are the third favorite. Cheesy, crispy and greasy in the best way. Consume is flavorful too. The least favorites are the barbacoa (soup) as itwas mostly broth and minimal shreds of beef, if any. The tacos are enjoyed by family, but there is an abundance of a taste or flavor I don't prefer. I maybe wrong but I think it's oregano (but again not 100%). The third not so fav are the regular nachos with just cheese and jalepeno. Also, a negative is that 2 orders were missing items. So check your bags to make sure. So thats not a good feeling when that part of someone's order but recourse is to drive back or let third party know to get a few dollars off. We prefer to receive order and enjoy. Not to follow up with a drive back or a complaint of an item shortage to get refunded a few bucks. Otherwise the staff inside are very nice and understanding. The menudo and burrito are favorited of mine. I will follow up and order other dishes or appetizers, along with the weekend red menudo.
