Made a reservation on Yelp for 5 PM on Saturday after the show.The restaurant only tried to confirm it at 2:30 and 4 when we were already in a show. I told the manager that but he called me a liar and said they tried to call earlier in the week (they did not) and i wanted to leave. When we arrived (early) they told us they no longer had our table. They then they gave us a table in the front, but the dining room was empty. We chose Bacall's in part due to its proximity to the broadway show we were seeing that evening. It is located near Times Square. Upon arrival, we got the impression that it was very much of a tourist destination. The interior was styled as almost a sports bar, but the decor attempted to have a NY flare. I would give this place a zero but it wouldn't let me :) First of all the food here tasted fine but because of our service I didn't enjoy it. We had a reservation at 5:15 pm we sat down at a table and the people who had a reservation at the same time sat across from us, we order drinks and food and about 10 mins later we got our drinks. About 10 mins after that we got a salad, we waited and waited for our food and our server told us 3 times that our food was coming in 5 mins but it never came. We watched the people that arrived at the same time as us get their food before ours. We had to get the manager 2 times and tell him that our food didn't come yet. About 5 mins after that our food finally came. We thought that telling the manager that he would come and check on us to see if we got our food and to see if everything was okay, but no, no one came and that was upsetting. Asked for bottled still water upon being seated, received it thirty minutes later. Ordered drinks and apps and food as soon as they brought the water. Received apps within 10 minutes (only thing worth while) received the food 30 minutes after the apps. Received our actual drinks after we were done eating food. Asked for the bill and had to flag the server down in order to pay and leave. I didn't even want to chance another half hour to wait for the actual tab and gave the credit card immediately to charge without checking the receipt. They were rushing us out, when we were still waiting for the bill. Busser came to bus our table before I could even hand over my credit card. Come for decorations, expect terrible service and food. The only reason I gave 2 vs 1 Star is because the monkey bread dessert was good. Not the best dessert I've ever had- but it was the best part of the meal. Went to restaurant week. First, we ordered sodas. The sodas came out completely flat. We had to flag someone down to bring tea as a replacement. Finally our server came by and mentioned multiple times (one time too many) that she was comping the drinks for us. The starter (deviled eggs) were too salty. I ordered the chicken for dinner. It came out as just a HUGE piece of chicken. No side. Nothing but chicken on a plate. It was Strange. The server never mentioned that nothing came with the chicken. I probably wouldn't have picked this dish if I knew it was only chicken. I paid over $45 for a meal that I could have spent $20 on at a grocery store buying pre-made meal that would be similar quality. The food here was over priced for sure! Assume the higher rating for this restaurant is from tourist that haven't eaten around NYC. I moved to the city 6 months ago and eat out 1-2x a week-- this was bottom of my list and not a place I will be going back to in the future. This restaurant is pretty large. I came with a friend on a Wednesday evening (very early, probably 4-5PM) so there was zero wait time. We ordered a tomato soup, white bean soup, cheeseburger with fries and the pork burger with fries as well. Overall, the soup was alright but honestly you don't need it with the large amount of fries they serve with the burger. I loved the fries and finished it but had to pack the burger to go because as my friend said, there was no need for an app with the amount of food from the entree. Overall, the hit for me was definitely the fries. The bread they served in the beginning wasn't heated (but I didn't expect it) and the butter was hard and cold (heated with the candle they provided LOL). The bathroom area was also kind of strange. I didn't go inside but the sinks were located outside - so does that mean they can't wash their hands immediately after using the bathroom? I don't even want to think about that LOL. Anyway, since this place was located in times square, the prices were expected. It met most of my expectations and overall, it wasn't too bad. read more

I went tonight for dinner after seeing it had 4 stars on yelp. Big mistake. My pregnant wife has a huge big stomach ache and is throwing up after eating one of their sandwiches. My chicken sandwich barely had any chicken in it. Our fries were cold. I am so angry. The food is overpriced for what it is. Pay over 20 bucks for a sandwich that gives you food poisoning? I wouldn't be surprised if this place didn't exist in a year because once people realize how terrible the food is they won't come back. This is a tourist trap for people who are watching a broadway show near by. We were there watching to kill a mockingbird across the street. Hugely regret coming here. No one should have to pay top dollar than have a massive stomach ache a few hours later. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! read more

I have never left a review of anything before but we are really disappointed, we planned a whole day around a meal at this restaurant and it was terrible. They didn't have any drinks on the menu, and offered us a cocktail that was for a different table, they also were 20 dollar cocktails that were just syrup. They took an hour to even great our table and rolled their eyes at us when we asked if we could split the bill. Our food was cold and didn't at all represent the descriptions. My experience at Bacall's was over the top. The food was excellent, absolutely delicious. The servers Jose the server was able to get us food that was not on the menu. Jonathan checked in with us throughout our dinner to ensure that we were serviced and also engaged in conversation and explained the Christmas decorations and the Bacall's ambience. Jonathan was the who knows how to keep the customer engaged in great conversations. He exemplifies great customer service. THE GREAT RESIGNATION IS REAL!! We decided to ignore the recent reviews mainly because we were cold and hungry and just came out of the theater. I gave 3 stars because the food was good with nice ambiance and the live music was a nice touch. Not to mention they comped our drinks due to the poor service. I had the NY Strip with creamed spinach. My steak was not as hot as I would have expected and a little over cooked. My BF had the prime rib, onion rings and broccoli all of which was tasty. THE CONS: We ordered apps and they never came! Our very polite waiter was no where to be found. The extra staff albeit helpful had no training in terms how to serve ie: they should serve from the right and not reach over me to serve the next person and my favorite, don't hold my glass from the top of the rim when placing it on the table. Your finger prints on the rim are a real turn off. When we complained to the waiter about the missing apps he said" it's not my fault; I'm only as good as the kitchen. He then disappeared and never checked in again. Thank God for the extra staff floating or we would never have gotten condiments. We even had to ask for the mgr just to get our check. He was apologetic and gave us a card for a free drink on our next visit. (Hence the third star). read more

I had selected Bacall's to celebrate my birthday with some friends the other night. The week prior, I looked at the menu online and thought "wow this looks good!". When my party and I arrived we were greeted warmly and the soothing live music from the wonderful pianist really added to the ambience! Jarvis was our server and he was OUTSTANDING. He truly went above and beyond to make sure that my special day was great. Just on his service alone I give him 5 stars-he was very attentive and thorough when explaining the menu to us. Unfortunately my 3 star rating on this review is because of the food and lack of communication coming from the kitchen. I initially ordered the prime rib with broccolini as my side. On the menu it stated it came with au jus. I also ordered a side of bernaise and chimichurri sauces. When the food arrived I was first shocked to see what was placed in front of me: a large cut of meat on a wooden plank. My first thought was why is a prime rib on this type of plating and 2 the meat was drying out since the wooden board was abosrbing everything. From my experience all prime ribs aren't sliced, it's just 1 cut and it's in a bath of delicious au jus. There was no au ju on my "prime rib". It was 70% fat and grisle 30% meat. The bernaise sauce was lukewarm and extremely salty. The chimichurri sauce was good. My friends ordered different entrées and I constantly asked them if their food was good. They had no complaints whatsoever so that was a good thing. They brought mashed potatoes to the table when I ordered broccolini. There were 2 other small parties in the dining room as me and ironically both had birthday celebrations as well. When it came to dessert for them, they received a nice slice of the layered cake with a nice big sparkler right in the middle. Very festive and inviting so I was looking forward to that personally for my table as well lol. What I received was a cinnabon looking bread cake dessert with 2 scoops of ice cream-no sparkler and no happy birthday greeting from the staff-NOTE this was not coming from my server Jarvis since he was serving other guests in the restaurant. I was slightly disappointed and Jarvis came to my table to check on things and he was disappointed as well with what had occured and then got me a slice of that layered cake with a sparkler and sang me happy birthday along with the pianist. He saved the night truly. I wasn't overly upset at the whole dinner experience since I was hanging out with some of my closest friends. But this was a memorable experience and half of it for all of the wrong reasons lol. Jarvis went above and beyond for his service and I thank him for his hospitable gestures. I personally would not recommend the prime rib to anyone. I didn't look as appetizing and it was very dry. Prime rib should never be sliced and served on a wooden plank it needs to be covered in au jus. It looks so bizarre on the plank. I might come back here again but I will order something else. The French onion soup I highly recommend it was delicious. If they had an entrée sized portion of it I would order it instantaneously! The overall theme and setting was very 1940s jazzy blues and I enjoyed myself nonetheless. read more

This will be short and to point... I've found the place that has the Goose that laid the "deviled eggs"... It was the picture of the "Deviled Eggs" on YELP that got me there...
