I am so absolutely disgusted! I sat down to eat my food, I swallowed a fork full of rice when I saw something move over the filet mignon. I dropped my food when I realized the was a roach crawling on the meat. I kicked the box and the roach began crawling out from the gap. I took this picture To share with people before they go to this truck! I am so grossed out I have no idea whether or not I ate roaches. I brushed my teeth and gargled... I still feel dirty! Yuk!

This is chicken fried rice or just fried rice? Lol why is the chicken in literal not even cubes but slivers ??? It's mostly rice which would be fine if the chicken was actually normal size. Honestly the worker/owner whoever it is here also need wayyyyyy better customer service I know it's just a food truck but the two times I've been here now the customer service been hella sub par. Their fried rice is good but slightly salty & mad oil! It was $11 so I'm not thattttt upset but def not worth anymore than that.

"Steak" and three tiny pieces of lobster for $50... what a joke

Does this look like a $50 meal to you? Lol. I waited 35 minutes for this on a Tuesday evening. It wasn't even busy. One person in front of me. I wished the saving grace was that it tasted good but the food was super bland on top of it being an already tiny portion (don't even think about coming here hungry). Three tiny pieces of lobster. None of the chefs or staff seemed like they wanted to be there. I hate this new trend in dtla with all of these overpriced bachi trucks, I've tried all of them and this one is probably the worst...

Salmon & shrimp plate. Substitute chicken fried rice

This was a bit of a disappointment. One because I've tried other hibachi places & also because I had high hopes. Their hours are late night, I got my food around 11-11:15 after a Clipper game Saturday. THEY DO NOT HAVE PHONE IN ORDERS, instead (I believe) they're on grub hub.... it wasn't bad but it was a few things that's made it lose two stars. I've been on record in my reviews of other restaurants that I don't like the tail on the shrimp.. it was 6 shrimps, all tailed. The salmon was tough like chicken. Crispppp boi. Aside from that, it was a pretty decent meal. They ARE flavorful, AND their garlic butter is really good, along with their sauce (idk what kind of sauce it is) and tbh their RICE itself was fire. Fire enough for them to have the business they had. It was about a 40 min wait, I don't think it was worth it. But I'm not stopping anyone from getting it again. 3 and a half stars if I could.... [I ordered 2 sides of fried rice and veggies along with my shrimp & salmon plate w/ chicken fried rice, my total was $57 flat]

There food is so amazing! The staff keep you informed throughout the whole waiting process. The food is cooked fresh and hot

I'm actually pretty new to trying food trucks around LA but I know everyone raves about them- so when I saw a Hibachi one I of course had to try it.

Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to what we remembered. Being given plastic utensils while dining in was surprising, especially at this price point. The service and food were just okay, and the "miso soup" was actually plain chicken broth, which was disappointing and unexpected. Overall, it didn't feel like the same experience we used to enjoy. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism, as we'd love to see the quality return to what it once was.

We got to choose our protein that was paired with fried rice and vegetables. I got scallops and pork belly, which was surprisingly the best choice for me. The pork belly (also like butter) paired so well with the scallops. The vegetables and the green sauce was really yummy as well and so was the fried rice.

The pea soup especially surprised me in the best way possible. Such a unique flavor and easily one of my favorite parts of the meal. The only thing I didn't enjoy food-wise was the salad because it was way too sour for my taste. Unfortunately, the service and staff experience really dragged the night down. Everyone was very nice, but the staff seemed extremely disorganized, confused, and honestly untrained. They tried to double charge our bill, and after I pointed it out, they removed the duplicate charge but somehow still kept the extra taxes from the duplicate bill on there. When I flagged it again, they acted like they were doing me a favor by removing it "just this once," when I was literally just pointing out a math error. Why would I pay taxes on a charge that was removed? The servers also kept forgetting things seconds after asking us. One asked how I wanted my steak cooked, I said medium well, and moments later came back asking if I wanted it rare. My friend said she wanted steak, and the server responded with "So you wanted the cheeseburger?" It honestly felt chaotic the entire night. That said, the food itself was genuinely impressive and very different from your standard teppanyaki experience. If they can improve the staffing and organization, this place could easily become a standout spot worth returning to.

Once the whole party was seated & our order was taken, we received our delicious ginger salad and miso soup quickly. When our chef arrived he was ready to put on a show! He was so fun, engaging and very genuine. All of the food was amazing. I got the filet mignon steak w/ fried rice and my husband gets the sumo steak. The filet mignon is definitely worth it but if you prefer more meat, the sumo steak is the way to go. The drinks are affordable and compared to other teppanyaki places, the food is affordable and absolutely worth it. They also offer a happy hour in the dining room only - does not include the teppanyaki grill area. Truly one of our favorite places!!

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.
