The server came over, greeted and attended to the couple beside me, walked back and forth several times, and checked on every table around me -- yet never once acknowledged me. Not a greeting. Not eye contact. Not even a simple "I'll be right with you." At first, I assumed it was an oversight. After watching him repeatedly attend to everyone around me, it became very clear that it wasn't. It was uncomfortable enough that guests at the surrounding tables began noticing and looking over. Even when another staff member brought food to the table directly in front of me, I was still completely ignored. Eventually, I left. There is nothing sophisticated about treating a paying guest as though they are invisible. Good service is not about being overly attentive -- it is about basic awareness, courtesy, and professionalism. Unfortunately, this restaurant managed to deliver the opposite. A beautiful setting can never compensate for a complete lack of hospitality. I certainly won't be returning.

This was genuinely some of the best coffee I've had since moving to California. I originally ordered one drink, and then realized they had a coffee flight. They were so nice and let me just pay the difference to switch to the flight, and THANK GOD because every single flavor I chose was amazing. The Toasted Tiramisu was TO DIE FOR. My friend also got the brown sugar coffee, which was incredible, so between the flight and hers I got to try five different flavors.. and every single one was so good. I'm honestly sad I live all the way in Santa Barbara because I will absolutely be going out of my way to come back here just for the coffee. And I say that as a coffee snob who grinds my own beans and makes my own espresso at home. This place is AMAZING. As for the coffee, it was honestly nothing special, just your average sweet latte. The drink price ranges from $6-$8, which is relatively normal for LA cafes. My father said it was one of the best pies he has ever had, comparable to the pies his mother baked for him as a child. I don't get pies often but when I do, I will be sure to order them from Jill.
