Backcountry Wine Tours & Aron our guide were once again AMAZING! So great to have knowledgable, connected and kind people to guide us through the beautiful Willamette Valley. This is our 6th annual trip and it was the best one yet- Olenik, Arlyn & Rachter wineries were all incredible! Thank you Jack and Aron for helping us coordinate another epic wine weekend!

Dillon was so genuine and knowledgeable. He sent us a questionnaire in advance of our trip to make sure the tour was customized to our likes and budget. He was on a first name basis with our winery hosts. You could tell they respected the tour company and our professional guide. Everyone was so welcoming and so passionate about their artisan craft. What a great day! Thank you Dillon!!!

What a fabulous experience! Jack was the absolute best! He picked us up at our Airbnb, explained local viticultural history as he drove us from vineyard to vineyard, took us to three wineries I'd never heard of (always wonderful to discover hidden gems!) and was just a wonderful guide all around - upbeat and down to earth. He was fully prepared with water on ice and provided a lovely lunch for us as well - and that BLT was incredible! I couldn't ask for a better way to travel through the vineyard country of Oregon. He took our group to three wonderful vineyards: Six Peaks (my personal favorite), Colene Clemens (truly outstanding) and Domaine Divio. We had at least five wines per tasting and came away with some truly gorgeous wines as souvenirs. We were never rushed and every question was answered (no matter how trivial). A very VIP experience from start to finish. I wish I could give Backcountry Tours 10 stars - will definitely book them again!

This tour was amazing! After you book with the company, they send you a comprehensive survey to ensure they are planning your perfect day. It was so nice not to have to worry about getting lunch or driving ourselves around. Dillon, our driver, was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to wine taste in the Oregon area!

Okay, since this is my 3rd amazing experience with Jack and Backcountry, it's about time to write a review! I'm a local, and don't get to wine country enough. When I do I wonder why I don't go more often. Yesterday only reiterated that! From start to finish, Jack took care of everything. It was a perfect day, with out of towners in our group (Texas and Minnesota) that were equally adventurous as me. I like how after you register online (super easy), you get a brief online questionnaire gathering info about your preferences for your tour. We were open to private tastings and planned on getting a few bottles at each stop. As it turns out, Jack found an opening for a Provisions Tasting (with lunch) at Soter, which was how we started our day. So awesome. Strolled through their garden and heard about Mineral Springs Ranch. Not cheap, but a great deal for what you get! We then stopped in at Flaneur and enjoyed hearing about a newish winery and what even a flaneur was! Finished up with a cozy tasting at North Valley. For a great experience where you don't have to worry about any details (or driving!!), these guys are the real deal. They will tailor your day to your budget and your interests.

A wine tour is a must when in Oregon. We booked a tour with this company and it was a breeze. We filled out a questionnaire after booking and Jack planned it all. If it's within the area, they will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. We were with another couple on our tour and luckily we all got along. Our guide, Drew, was extremely knowledgable about the industry too. We ended up visiting 3 wineries plus a distillery (this was unplanned but we fit it in since we finished our first tasting early and it was close). We visited Trisaetum Winery, Killdeer Distilling, Arlyn (the tour company provided a charcuterie lunch here) and Benza Vineyards (my personal favorite). We really enjoyed all of the visits. We purchased a few bottles of wine while on the tour and can't wait for Backcountry to ship these to us. They will let you know the fees for shipping based on the number of bottles purchased and where you live. I definitely recommend Backcountry Wine Tours.

Backcountry Wine Tours is the way to go! We did the joinable tour so we had our group of 3 and another couple. Nico was our tour guide and he was fantastic! The wineries were picked based on a survey you complete ahead of time and the owner puts together the itinerary. They picked us up from our Airbnb and dropped us off. The lunch was from a local restaurant and we enjoyed it at one of the wineries. This was a great way to experience the best the Willamette Valley has to offer. 100% recommend!

Cannot say enough good things about this tour! Our guide, Drew, was supper accommodating ,knowledgeable and down to earth and easy to spend a day with. We had such a unique experience especially at a very small, bio-dynamic vineyard with the winemaker - not something you get to often experience. We would have never done that by planning our own winery visits so that really differentiated the experience. We hope to be back with friends and will 200% book again !

Stop what you're doing right now. Don't look at any other wine tours. This is the one. I'm a Portland native and wine snob, so wasn't looking for anything ordinary or too "touristy" - I planned a private tour for a group of 10 moms and Backcountry did NOT DISAPPOINT! They took us to 3 "secret" wineries that are not open to the public, we had at least 6-7 wines per tasting, the settings were all magical and unique, and the vintners took so much time to talk to us and teach us about all of the wines, their process, and their journey. The lunch prepared by our guide was DELISH, filled with local delicacies, and we never felt rushed. We just felt like VIPs enjoying a luxurious day in one of the best wine regions in the world!

On a father-daughter trip through the PNW, we were lucky enough to find Backcountry Wine Tours for an amazing day wine tasting in the Willamette Valley! Our tour ended up just being the two of us + our wonderful guide, Dillon. Dillon picked us up in a super spacious and comfortable van and we visited 4 amazing vineyards throughout our day! It was clear that Dillon had taken the time to read our questionnaire and got to know us on the drive before deciding which vineyards to visit. Dillon was also a wealth of knowledge about wine production and gave us great background information on each individual vineyard we visited. It was very clear that Backcountry Wine Tours have great relationships with many of these local vineyards. All of our tasting fees were either discounted or waived completely and we seemed to get a lot of individual attention in the tasting rooms. The valley is breathtakingly beautiful and we couldn't think of a better way to have spent this day!! Another little bonus was the provided lunch was super tasty! Highly recommend Backcountry Wine Tours to anyone wanting to learn more about Willamette Valley Wines and have a laid-back experience wine tasting with a wonderful guide!

What a fabulous day! We had the great fortune of having the owner Jack as our tour guide. He was easy going and made the wine tour experience so approachable for our friends who had never been on a formal tour. We enjoyed his company and conversation during the tour. It was clear he had reviewed my pre wine tour questionnaire, as all of the stops were well thought out (amazing rosés in the valley - who knew?!). Each stop was leisurely and afforded us the opportunity to enjoy the views, photo ops and even a bottle of wine before moving to the next location. Jack also tailored our trip during the day, heeding to our requests of shorter drive times between each stop. I was amazed by the beauty of the Williamette Valley and how delicious the wines were. It is clear Jack and his team are well respected at the wineries, we always had personal attention and waived or discounted tasting fees (another reason I recommend this tour as they do not include fees in their initial cost as this can vary or be eliminated). I would 100% recommend this experience and have absolutely no complaints.

Our party of four spent the day with A Great Oregon Wine Tour, and it set a new standard. Wayne,…read morethe owner, built our itinerary around a specific request. I wanted at least one winery pouring Sauvignon Blanc in a valley dominated by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. He found Balsall Creek, then rounded out the day with Ridgecrest and Compris. All three were off the beaten path. No crowded tasting rooms, no tour bus circuit. Just remarkable wines and winemakers with stories to tell. Our guide Robert is a master sommelier, and it showed all day. My wife and I have tasted extensively in the Russian River Valley and Bourgogne, and Robert drew sharp comparisons between all three regions. He walked us through the Willamette's geologic history, from the Missoula Floods to the volcanic and marine sedimentary soils that define its AVAs, and connected it all to what was in our glasses. It was a full day of wine education disguised as a tasting tour. The picnic lunches, made by Wayne and his wife, were a highlight of their own. The turkey sandwich with apple and cucumber drew raves from the table. My vegan lettuce wrap was every bit as good. These were not afterthought box lunches. Our group of four had a roomy van to ourselves, which kept the whole day comfortable and unhurried. If you want a Willamette Valley experience beyond the usual stops, book with Wayne and ask for Robert.
