My yard was a mess with broken heads and leaks which I couldn't find the source. He studied the entire area and quoted me for the known issues and there were no surprises and he left the yard in perfect working order. We had two problem valves, one was leaking and making a mud bog in the front yard, while the other was not working with the control box. These valves can be very tricky to replace, you really need someone who knows what they are doing. Called John and made an appointment. He came and replaced both valves. Our project as a bit of a battle but he worked until everything was fixed and working as it should. John is tenacious and very particular about getting everything just right. In fairness, John did work for me about a year ago. That being said, I told him I would leave a comment on Yelp but I soon forgot. I was cleaning my email box (John emailed me a receipt for his work) and I remembered our conversation. As it was, I had several broken sprinklers and my watering system was not working. I assumed at the time that I would have to replace everything, as it was older equipment and the last person I called told me it was not worth fixing and wanted to charge a lot of money to replace. Not only did John respond quickly, he was able to diagnose the problem with my sprinkler system so I did not have to replace it. He brought my system up to code, repaired my sprinklers and threw in a sprinkler tuneup on top of everything. His prices were far more reasonable than anyone else in the area. John was very quick (same day) to come over and assess our system and provided an estimate within 48 hrs, as he said he would do. The estimate was very reasonable. A+++ Please believe me on this review - I am a tough customer and I researched the service providers carefully before choosing OC Sprinkler Service. In fact, I "interviewed" 4 service providers reviewed here on Yelp before choosing OC Sprinkler Service. I will not name them, but here is a summary of what occurred. The first provider spent an hour trying to figure out the problems and he ultimately threw his hands in the air and said, "I can't fix this!" He offered to install a completely different system for $800. The second provider suggested replacing most of the valves and emailed a very expensive bid. This would NOT have resolved the problems with my system. The third provider suggested replacing all of the valves, but he never followed up with a bid. Finally, John arrived and he diagnosed the problem within about 5 minutes! Honestly, John known sprinklers, drip systems, and wiring. He followed up as promised and repaired all of the issues promptly and reasonably - nowhere near $800. He worked long and hard until everything was in perfect working order. I don't know what to say. My front yard was completely messed up by the removal of 3 very tall, very old trees on Monday, April 18th. I had many broken sprinklers, painted utility marks all along the sidewalk, dirt for grass, plants to be removed and replaced, bent bender boards, broken light wires, etc. My gardener couldn't help me this week so I started calling contractors at 8:16 a.m this morning. I couldn't find anyone to help me! I kept going using a combination of Angie's List and Yelp, calling over 10 companies that couldn't help. I eventually called this company at 11:12 am. I talked to someone named John. He couldn't help either and I actually started to cry, i.e., I lost it. I told him I was losing it (he must have heard me crying) and that I had to go. I hanged up. I gathered myself up and started making more calls. Finally, I found a great service just a couple phone calls later and all was well. At 5:41 pm, six and one half hours later, John called me back and wanted to know why I hanged up on him. He didn't ask me if I was okay or if I had found someone to help. There was no trace of decency or kindness. It scared me. You be the judge. read more

Had a bad leak recently one morning in the pvc pipe leading into a valve. Water was just flooding out and had to shut the water off to the house at the main. Called Orange County Sprinkler Service and spoke with John. He gave me a reasonable quote over the phone and had someone out within a few hours. Ishmael professionally and promptly made the needed repair and the bill was exactly what John had quoted on the phone. Two weeks later called John to come out to look at a few valves that were leaking and to get a repair estimate. John again provided a very reasonable quote and was very professional in making the required repairs. He worked hard, was very neat and did a quality job. I also inquired if he could install a separate shut off valve for the irrigation system so would not have to turn off the water at the main in the future. John dug down into the ground and found a irrigation system shut off valve that had been buried over the years. He replaced this valve and raised it to be above ground. The final bill came in a little under what he had quoted as he was able to use a few less parts. Found John to be very honest and professional and will use him again. read more
