My sister recommended I do a sewer scope "just in case" since she encountered some costly issues on her property that could have been prevented with a sewer scope and preventative work. I reached out to a bunch of companies and went with the cheapest (not Cali Rooter and Plumbing) since I figured they'd all be doing the same thing and I didn't expect them to find anything. Well, to my unpleasant surprise, they told me that I needed a new sewer pipe from my property to the street. Despite the fact that the entire plumbing system had been overhauled five years earlier as part of an extensive renovation and all the new plumbing was okay, they had connected everything to the original pipe from the 1940's. They showed me some blockage that was already happening and said that if I didn't replace the pipe I could have an issue with water backing up into the house, causing damage. Given that this was no longer just a sewer scope, I did some more research and based on reviews, asked Cali Rooter for a second opinion. They came out first thing the following morning (like 10 hours later) and told me that I not only needed to repair the sewer pipe, but I also had to get a liner. They suggested that the other company was either negligent, or knew that I needed the liner and was going to wait until the trench was dug already and I was forced to say yes to the upsell. Cali Rooter said that they could come as soon as the rain stopped, about 4 days later, to do the entire repair. Communication was great throughout, they showed up around 9 am and were done by around 3 pm and it looks like they were never there (my biggest concern was the landscaping). They also serviced the two water heaters on my property as a courtesy. All around great service - great communication, fast responses and service. So far so good with the new pipe, although I guess if they did things right, I won't know until after things don't go wrong for decades. read more

Chris was absolutely amazing!! He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to about options And the price he quoted me for the work done was very fair and honest! I called the company to have someone come by to diagnose why my toilet was not able to drain when being flushed (I tried plunging but it still wouldn't drain) Chris came by and immediately knew our cleanout line could be the culprit and he showed me it was completely backed up with water. Excellent experience. First time using them and this was for a pretty serious job (corroded steel sewer line under concrete slab). They came quickly upon contacting them to do an assessment. Simon came on site, and was pretty thorough and clear/direct regarding my options and did an estimate on the spot. I liked that he recommended to take care of another issue with my line as this would optimize my costs and take care of something that has also been problematic. The price was fair based on my understanding of relining costs. They sent all the proper notifications before getting the crew for repairs. They ran into an issue with their equipment during the day, but went to do all they could to get things resolved and worked late in the evening to get the work done within a day as promised. What I really liked about the whole experience is how responsive/clear and direct they are. I would get an answer within minutes of contacting them for any question, even late in the evening (10pm). We called Cali Rooter and Plumbing at 7pm on the night of the heavy rains when our garage flooded. Cali Rooter sent Simon out and he arrived within an hour on short notice. He diagnosed the problem immediately and got to work fixing our sump pump which was improperly installed. He also cleared drains. He worked tirelessly for 3 hours to get the flooding down, and, by the time he left, our garage was back to normal. He provided a quote on how to fix our issue so we didn't deal with flooding in the future, and sent us an invoice to right away for the work he performed with the quote for the work he suggested we follow up with. The bill was high, but it was an emergency after hours call which is always a premium. Cali Rooter told me ahead of time what the after hours call charge would be and asked if it was ok before booking the appointment, so I really appreciate the transparency. Simon and Douglas at Cali Rooter did a great job changing out a 100 year old cast iron pipe that was crumbing and replacing it with an ABS pipe and connecting to the clay pipe... the pipe was under the foundation and they tunneled from the base to access and replace the bad 'artery" in 4 hours of digging... really appreciate Simone's recommendation to this rather than doing the easier way of doing a liner that 5 other plumber's suggested.
