Ordered a burger, chili and nachos with a peach cobbler dessert. All of it was extremely salty. Nachos were good, chili was good. Burger was good. Not a drop of sour cream and the pico de gallo was less than an ounce. Did not eat the peach cobbler since it was clearly made with corn syrup and thickeners not from scratch. There are two Backporch locations in Lawton. This location is slightly (only very slightly) better than the one located on Cache. Backporch is a small local Oklahoma chain restaurant that serves burgers, beer, and other basic bar food options. They're truly underrated when it comes to their salads, though. They have an array of absolutely uh-mazing salads that are worth delving into. If you think you don't like lettuce-based meals, Backporch will change your mind. They have a burger special each day, but also have a lot of other very unique flavor options. The burgers are large (be prepared- this makes them messy), and often come with a slim amount of fries as the side. I'd really like to see slightly thinner pieces of meat and a bit more fries. Their appetizers are a basic array- including chips and queso, a pretzel and queso, and loaded fries (with queso). If you don't like cheese, you're gonna need to go somewhere else. Other meal options include chili and sandwiches. The real reason, I believe, Backporch is so popular in Lawton is their beer selection. They have about 10 beers on tap at any given time and they have a rotating selection. When one keg is finished a new and different draft beer is offered. They feature beers from smaller breweries, local breweries, and a few more well known staples. My fiancé and I love the fact that the beer selection is ever changing here- and it draws us in almost weekly just to see what they have to offer. The waitresses, for the most part, are very well-informed on the drink options and can give you a good idea of what is available. Between the two Backporch's in Lawton, this location does offer a much more comfortable atmosphere. There are two dining area- one more of a 'bar area', and another area that features table seating. There are high top tables, low top tables, bar stools, and booth seating. If possible, request booth seating- as it's certainly the most comfortable. The booth seating is also the only seating that is ideally placed to watch the TVs if you're there to view sporting events. They do show a lot of large or local sporting events on their TVs, but unfortunately the TVs are poorly placed and they never have the sound on unless the sports game is a widely watched one (like a Super Bowl or March Madness finals). The service here is always quick and the place is well-staffed. Our waitresses have always been very friendly. The food is always served fresh or hot (whichever is more fitting for the meal we've requested). The establishment is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. Although there aren't many bar options in Lawton, Backporch is definitely one of the best ones out there. It's a shame that they close so early- as I really think they'd be able to offer up a laid back late night option for people who enjoy a cold beer a few hours after dinner as well. read more

If there was a 6th star..they would get it. Came to Lawton from New Orleans to visit my son stationed at Fort Sill. I am a YELP junkie so this the first place I look for recommendations. Even though I'm vegetarian I opted for this place because of the rating and in hopes of a veggie burger (throwing it our there). Unfortunately, I was not able to get a veggie burger because they don't offer one, but let me tell you that the creamy avocado wrap did not disappoint! My son really enjoyed his burger as well. My family visited this joint when in town for our son's graduation from Fort Sill. We decided to try this place based on positive reviews on yelp. We were not disappointed. The menu was interesting & had many savory dishes to choose from. We were impressed with the chips & queso & Bavarian pretzel as appetizers. Everything was fresh & delicious. The chips were made on site fresh & tasted 100% better than the same fare served at a local Mexican restaurant the night before. My mother in law ordered the steak bites & garlic mashed potatoes. She said it was the best of both she had ever had. The rest of our party had burgers & were impressed with the sensational flavoring of the sandwiches. All ingredients were incredibly fresh. I recommend the jalapeño mayo for those whom enjoy the spicier side of cuisine. The service also was incredibly friendly & attentive. My family never had our drinks more than half empty before refills were brought. I highly recommend this place to ever in town looking for a delicious lunch or dinner spot. read more

We felt sorry for the waitress trying to do her job and make some money because of what we assumed was a LOUD mouth cook in the back acting like an idiot and sending out nasty been fried earlier French fries and a soggy sandwich because the lettuce hadn't been drained or the tomatoes. And I found it off that my food came out on a baking sheet where no one else's did. Hello after you have fried a ton of food you might want to change the oil that way for instance your fries and chicken tenders don't taste like old oil but if your drink and wasted the prices are or the low end but so was the food. We were there for lunch because we had heard and read so many good things but my wife and I didn't have that experience, we won't go back we could only imagine and ask ourselves, how clean is it......... wouldn't go. read more

Arrived in December of 2015 at Lawton OK for some work at Fort Sill. Not super hungry, but wanted something American as I had just gotten back to the states from Taiwan. You can't go wrong with a burger. The Back-porch is a pretty nice place. Clean, lots of TVs and personable and efficient staff. My burger was a tad under-cooked, but tasted good nevertheless. Now having eaten here n this trip three times over the last two weeks I can say that I'm becoming disappointed in the establishment. When they first opened, they had a great selection on draft of beer. From the standard, to the high octane stuff that I like. Now it has a lot of common beers and what it seems as alot of IPAs. I like them but not my everyday beer. Further, I have eaten here each time. First and second time the food was delicious. I had the club samich the first time and the jalapeno Patty melt the second time. Both outstanding. Then tonight I had the OG burger with bacon and added an egg. Burger was way, way overcooked and super thin. More beef came with the patty melt than this OG burger. Further, it had little taste, probably due to the over cooked state. Very disappointing. I'm only here for a few more days but on the be back. The service, while very friendly, was spotty. Further, it was a training night so the server was gone alot doing the training with the new lady. Best place to eat in Lawton. Burgers and sandwiches are all made to order with very diverse topping and sauce combinations. Fries are fresh and seasoned really well. The servers and host are very polite and professional and the food comes out fast. Pleasantly surprised. Been there twice now and we had good experiences both times. Friendly and fast wait staff. It's more of a sports bar with some tables. It can get crowded quickly with not a lot of walking space inbetween tables but we don't mind. The burgers were good.... I liked the kraken with an over easy egg. I like that you can add to your burger. Everything is pretty black pepper - y. Except the waffle sweet potato fries. Those are salty and sweet. One of the better burger joints in Lawton area. Haven't been to this place in awhile and ordered the steak fingers. Meat was very hard to chew thru and some pieces were just batter with no meat. I let our waitress know about it to make sure anyone else doesn't receive the same platter, but better than what I got next go around. Also, ordered the Mechelata and it was very very spicey. My wife lips were burning from whatever tajin the put on it. My recommendation is to order 1 mechelata and base your preference of that before ordering others. In all the waitress was very friendly. I found this little gem on Yelp while traveling to Lawton today. Good job Yelpers! I had an excellent beer and burger experience and the service was attentive and spot on. I posted the pix of my burger and an amazing Porter. The burger was so fresh and if you like a fresh brioche bun with good cow it is worth the expense. I went simple, just beef and bacon with sautéed mushrooms , gouda and garlic aioli. No veg but I did ask for some on the side. They were very accommodating. The fries were cut dirty and fresh. I definitely like eating at this restaurant. I think they have the BEST fried pickles in town. i have tried them at several different places, but there is something about the batter they use here. My husband and I have almost become regulars, just for the pickles. I have had a couple of their burgers & he loves their shrimp tacos. The last time we were here I ordered their Brisket Frito pie, & my husband ordered a sandwich. We will definitely be back since we love coming here, most likely for the pickles. read more

Probably my least favorite bar in Lawton. You can't really call yourself a draft house when you only have eight non-domestic beers on tap. My $8 pint was also an unpleasant surprise. The food that I ordered (the big city burger) was phenomenal, but was small and was not satiating at all. The quality of the burger is the only reason I didn't give it 1-star. I also may have picked a bad night, but the country music was playing so loud, I could barely talk to those next to me and my seat was not ideal to watch the game that was on. read more

The presentation of the food is spectacular. The food itself didn't live up to the hype of the reviews. While the brisket nachos looked amazing, the killer queso left much to be desired. Thin & watery, and still had stings & chunky cheese solids in it. I don't think the "cheese" was fully melted. The flavor was ok, didn't meet "killer" description. The "brisket" was peppery which I enjoyed, but it seemed to be a chuck or rump roast rather than a true cut of brisket (texture & flavor appeared so anyway). It's a great way to market the dish, but it's deceiving; I was expecting smokey brisket & received "beef pot roast nachos". The 3 little pigs looks amazing. The Tabasco onion straws were the best part, but again I wasn't wowed by the meat. If brisket, pulled pork, or killer queso is in a dish, I would expect those premium ingredients to be the main feature. They weren't bad just fell short. Decent food, but didn't meet expectations. I didn't feel it worthy of driving out of my way to sample. I did appreciate that they packaged all the ingredients for my nachos separately when I ordered to go. Kept the nachos crunchy rather than soggy. Like I said, looked fantastic, just average on the flavor. A tip: the floor was extremely slippery when I stopped. I was even wearing my hiking shoes with grippy rubber soles & still felt my feet sliding. Perhaps it freshly waxed or oiled, but I felt it important to mention if you lose balance easily. read more

While visiting friends I went to Backporch Drafthouse. I have heard that Lawton finally has a place to get good food and beer. With all this hype, I had to try it out. The place is small, but has a lively atmosphere. I was surprised to see that they did not have an out door seating area as it is called the "Backporch" drafthouse. I ordered the chicken strips, onion rings and a dead guy ale. The food was pretty good, and looking at my friends meals, I can see why it has alot of buzz. I will say the biggest buzz killer for me was that the beer selection seemed weak. I am spoiled in Colorado with my selections, so this may not be fair. With that said, having to pay 7 bucks for a pint seemed pretty pricey to me, especially when you can get a 6 pack for 5 bucks more at the store. Overall it was a good experience, but with the high beer prices and semi lack of selections, I have to stay at average for now. When back in Lawton I will give this another go and hope that other food selections curve my opinion. I will admit that this a step up for Lawton. read more

Came here on our last night visiting fort sill for my husband's bct graduation, and let me tell you: BEST RESTAURANT WE HAD while in lawton. I have to be completely honest, all the food in lawton made me sick, I did not once finish a meal while I was there. Looking for a late night dinner spot, came across this place on yelp and since the mother in law was feigning for some drinks, we decided to come here. Drinks were delicious, generous on the alcohol. Food was amazing, tasted like REAL food. And last but not least, I have to give a shout out to our amazing waitress Ashley (sorry if I spelled it wrong..) who made us Californians feel welcomed. She was very attentive, friendly, and basically made sure we were taken care of. The food was reasonably priced, almost cheap compared to California, and was very delicious. They are also generous in portion, so I had to take the rest of mine in a doggy bag. If you are visiting lawton or fort sill, be sure to check this place out for some real delicious food. And backporch, you guys got a jem of a waitress, dont lose her! read more
