Love the variety of choices and everything I have had to date has been wonderful! Have had a mixed bag when it comes to service. It can be a little slow sometimes but an acceptable trade off for the good food. The smoked brisket is really yummy and don't miss the Jalepeno Burger! Ive been to some really weird bars, but I really liked this one! The food was fantastic, not to mention the drinks. I typically don't enjoy the service at the bars I've gone to, but I liked the service here. They were very friendly, and accommodating of any need or desire. I felt like I could stay there all night even if it was close to closing time! Also one of my favorite things there are there steak fries with the sauces. Although maybe its just because I love steak fries in general! I would certainly recommend this place if you want to go out and have some fun! read more

Liked the historic building and the inside was very comfortable. Nice owner and people. Shared the full rack of ribs with my daughter she loved the ribs sauce. Loved how it came on the cookie sheet. Was not impressed by the cowboy beans awful taste and texture. No on the cornbread I am picky with my ribs I like to have a smoke ring and don't like them falling off the bone. My daughter liked them though. The fries were amazing . My oldest daughter orders chicken-fried steak every new place we go. She loved the green beans and the gravy and how crispy the batter was but she thought the meat was frozen not fresh. She liked it though To be fair though she had one in Dayville and nothing has come close to that one but this was her 2nd fav. My mother ordered the pastrami sandwich and it looked amazing and she said it was really good. The twins got kids meals and they were nice portions. Great Cobb salad and awesome servers. Happy hour food is good. If you use your House that Beer Built Habitat for Humanity fundraiser passport, make sure they only charge you the stated $1. I used mine last night and realized afterwards I was charged full price. Mostly I'm disappointed there are no tables in the bar that are wheelchair accessible. All the tables are very high. A person in a wheelchair would be sitting about 2-3' lower than everyone else and not able to reach their plate to eat. read more

We tried it for the first time today for lunch.We had the club sandwich, BBQ burger, and BLTA sandwich. Everything was good, prices a little bit high but it beats driving out of town. Last evening was the last time we will frequent this restaurant. We've been a couple times before and though we weren't impressed thought we'd give it another go. The New York steak I ordered was the thickness of a round steak if that and absolutely flavorless. My husband had a ciabatta chicken club and he said it was bland. I have friends who all live outside of Canby and this is sort of a central meeting place for us for lunch. We have come 3 or 4 times since I moved just outside of town. My grandson and I have eaten here a couple times after our trips to Bricks & Minifigs. The food is good, we have tried several dishes and never been disappointed. We usually have enough that we need a to-go box and end up with dinner too. I am not a beer drinker but my friends who are say the beer is great. The service has always been very friendly. I enjoy the tall windows and historic feel. It is in an older building downtown. I am not a fan of TV's in a restaurant or overly dark restaurants. It is light in here and the TVs are not overly obnoxious, as testified to by the fact that we keep coming back. It is a nice bar and grill that will fit the needs of all sorts of folks. My hubby and I were out for date night and went to Canby for a movie. We missed the 4 o clock showing so we went to Backstop Bar & Grill for some dinner while we waited for the next showing. When we got there the bar was packed but we were able to find a seat at the bar. The staff was outstanding, very attentive and in control of the packed bar. We ordered some very reasonable priced happy hour items and had a cocktail. The food was great! I had the fish and chips and my husband had the Chipotle chicken nachos. We will definitely be back and may even make this our regular date night spot :) I would, however, give just about anything to have that homemade tartar sauce recipe!!?? read more

We went there on the 4th of July and all of us loved our food. Our grandson who is the pickiest eater ever, thought it was the best chicken strips he had ever had and he's had plenty of them. I have lived in Canby almost my entire life. I visited this location prior to and after new owner's took over. Since it has become the Backstop Bar and Grill, I have received nothing but fantastic service, food, and drinks. I have come here on many occasions and ordered many things from the menu. They are quick, friendly, and strive to make you happy. I have come with my husband, with friends, and with my two small children. We really, really love this place and can't say enough great things!
