The food here is more on the pricy side. We got the Bruschetta pizza and it was enough for the both of us, but I was considering getting a burger. What turned me off was a 6oz burger alone was $10.50, and adding cheese and onions was $0.75 each. The pizza itself was good, a little bit on the wet side, and they were sparing with the tomato's. The crust was also kind of flat and hard at the top. Otherwise, the meal was decent and the atmosphere was calm. Backstreet's Grill was a delightful surprise. I was invited out to eat and to my surprise I had never heard of this place. Our wait was about 20 minutes which flew by with our relatively large group. As a table we decided to order the lump crab and artichoke dip, chips and queso, and wings. We devoured all of the appetizers and everyone enjoyed everything. The queso was surprisingly good. Some of us mentioned that the color made a skeptical but it was actually really good. The chips for crispy and not greasy. The table ordered a variation of different sandwiches like the lump crab sandwich, the biggest burger, and wraps. The person that ordered the lump crab sandwich said that it wasn't what they were expecting as far as flavor profile and they didn't finish their plate. The person that ordered the biggest burger mentioned that the meat patty could use a little bit more seasoning but it was very nice how they could customize the burger to their liking and had plenty of toppings and options. The Caesar salad was about an 8 out of 10 but the shrimp made it so much more enjoyable. The drinks were great! The majority of us thoroughly enjoy the tipsy Azalea and other people also enjoy the goose on the grass (I may have that wrong but it's close enough) lol. Ehhh... what can we say, we had high hopes for Backstreets and it let us down. To start, we ordered the chips, salsa and queso. Now the salsa was just okay... but the queso was disappointing. It was lukewarm to start, and it was very watery, hoping that we maybe just got a bad batch. But hey, you get a free chip refill with the salsa and queso combo (yay, I guess). Next for the actual entrees. Kelsay ordered the buttermilk fried tilapia sandwich. Hope you weren't excited about this sandwich, because it has no flavor. It's like they breaded and fried an unseasoned piece of fish and tried to mask the lack of flavor with the Cajun Caesar dressing. We had to send this one back and get something else. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was the only "great" item we ordered. The sandwich was pretty standard, but What took it to great was the addition of the honey sriracha sauce (so gooood). It was so good that this was exactly what Kelsay got to replace her fish sandwich (down to the sauce). This is a great place for dinner in South Carolina. I give it 4.5 's The grilled salmon with rice and vegetables.. Blackened salmon, ahi tuna with grilled vegetables. Meat loaf, mashed sweet potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables were nice and crunchy. The salmon cooked at the right temperatures and the meatloaf all were very delicious. Our server, Emily was very friendly, attentive and did a great job. The space was clean, music was at the right volume that you could still have a conversation without yelling over the music. Only draw back were the cocktails, they were all too sweet with not enough alcohol. If it weren't for the drinks they would have gotten 5 stars. This was a nice local spot to try. We went as a group of 6 and had a variety of menu items. Our waitress was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. The ahi tuna appetizer was a huge hit for our table. However, the prime rib dip and bison burgers ended up being a big letdown. Everything was good, but it wasn't outstanding. The guys said the burgers were mediocre at best. The Buffalo chicken pizza was also good. 4 stars for the atmosphere, service and food combined. Out of town and came here on a whim, looking for a light lunch. I wish I had taken a pic of our food prior to finishing. It was all so good. We had a half rack of the meatiest and most tender ribs, along with a crisp house salad, creamy mac and cheese, and fresh fries. A nice stiff Tequila Sunrise was a good touch to our meal. The atmosphere was great. For a Saturday the crowd wasn't bad but they remained steadily busy and I noticed they had a lot of pick up orders. I've eaten at Backstreets multiple times and am surprised I haven't left a review yet. On each visit, the staff has been very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is clean and well lit. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced for the quality. I read a Yelp Elite review about the lump crab cake sandwich and decided to order it. I was pleasantly surprised. It is tough to find good crab cake around Columbia and this is one of the best I've found. The fries were very good too. I look forward to returning soon. read more

Lunch here was delicious. I split a black bean and cheese quesadilla with added chicken with someone else in the party. It was awesome. Cooked wonderfully. I had a side of macaroni and cheese and it was also good. Large pasta shells. The other people in the party ate the chicken fajita wrap and the hickory chicken salad. Great spot that's close to the University of S. Carolina. Parking is limited to the few spots available in the back or side of the restaurant. They have a great patio area that is enclosed and stays cool on a hot summer day. Highly recommend the Mandarin chicken salad and SW chicken salad. My family LOVES backstreets. Ever since our first visit we have gone back multiple times and have yet to not have a 5 star experience. We mainly go for their chicken wings, which are so very good. They're always nicely sized and their bbq sauce is amazing. The interior is nice and clean, and we've always had great experiences with the waiting staff. They also have what I believe is an area for dogs on the back side of the restaurant which I find very cute and something you don't see too often. read more

Our server was nice and explained the lunch specials. We started with a large onion ring to share with the table. The rings were lightly battered with both a ranch and blue cheese dipping sauce. I got the Carolina burger wrap and my wife got the chicken salad surprise. My wrap had hamburger, chili, cheese sauce, Cole slaw, and big pieces of red onion. For me the flavor combo was OK. My wife liked her chicken salad. One issue with someone at our table was a really dry overcooked Cuban sandwich. Our friend could not eat it and mentioned to our waitress. We have been here twice and so far and I'm VERY pleased! The food is wonderful. The prices aren't bad either. The first time we came I got the rib eye, asparagus, salad and cauliflower mashed. It was delicious. The cauliflower mashed were the best I've ever had. The steak was cooked just right. Lettuce was nice and crisp in my salad. It was a great meal. My husband got the meatloaf with the cauliflower mashed. He was pleased too. We came back again and I got the meat lovers pizza with cauliflower flour crust (the crust did cost a little extra). ... very good. My husband got the jerk chicken special. He enjoyed it too.
