READ ALL REVIEWS AS THERE ARE MANY BAD ONES BELOW THE GOOD ONES!!! I would not buy anything from this company, My wife purchased a $25,000.00 Spool from them in 2015 and had nothing but problems. After she paid for it in full she had a problem setting up a delivery. It seems like once they had our money she was not important to them anymore. After the delivery we had several small problems including a tear in the cover that we complained about on the day it was installed. She called and called asking for the owner Dean and never got a call back. Finely I had to drive down there in person. I walked in and happen to catch him in the showroom and asked if he was the owner and his answer was "soon to be" I asked him what the heck that meant and he told me it was his dads place and soon would be his, (so professional lol.) I explained very clearly that I was very upset that we were calling for over two weeks and no return calls and if the issues were not taken care of I would come back when he had lots of customers in the showroom and deal with it very loudly. (it was the only way I could get him to help us) He then sent a very nice installer over to fix the issues all except the tear and promised the tear would be taken care of. A little while later all the bolts in one of the corners of the cover popped off and we had to call him back again. He took care of the issue and that was it. I got the phone number off the truck of the installer so I could call him direct. Since then we had a problem with a pump and have been calling him without success. HE NEVER RETURNS THE CALL. We called the installer direct and then heard back from Dean. His response was that he is not sure if the part is under warranty and also he would have to charge us $160.00 travel time for the installer to come over(15 miles away). He also mentioned that if we attempt to call the installer direct again he would fire him. Our last conversation with him was that the small pump is not warrantied and he wants $800.00 for the pump plus the travel time. We do not have little kids, this spool is used very little and we have a blind adult living in the house that cannot use it because of these issues. Completely unprofessional! We purchased a pool from Antonio, who gave us the installers number and told us to immediately schedule installation. Four days later, we called and found out he gave us the wrong number! After two installer recommendations, and no answers from either of them, we found our own installer. After being informed of three separate delivery dates - none of which came through, we decided to cancel the pool. After being lectured for 15 minutes about the difficulty of having things delivered to Long Island, he then told my husband he could "guarantee" delivery for a specific day. More lies! So after a few accusations and derogatory comments, we got our money back, minus the 25% restocking fee (OUR FAULT! WE DIDN'T READ IT WELL ENOUGH). Their review responses all blame the customer, that the customer doesn't know what they're doing, the customer didn't understand, etc. They've always got someone else to blame, and they are downright rude about doing so. They don't answer phone messages or emails either. Do yourselves a favor, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Don't make our mistake. read more

THIEVES !! DISCLAIMER ALERT! Would give negative stars if possible. This "family owned" business took almost $20,000 between credit card and cash from my unwell mother, and when we disputed the charges and asked for refund, they kept telling us that "it's out of their hands" and "their corporate higher ups would resolve it." It has been 6 months, no refund was issued, and even though they said what she ordered was "custom" despite it being in their showroom, they could not refund it. Yet they never delivered the items even though we don't want them. So now they have almost $20,000 of my poor sick mom's money and have done nothing. Very unresponsive customer service. I ordered a replacement pool liner from Backyard Masters and the day leading up to the day of installation we called to check in the status and they never returned our calls. A few days after the proposed installation date they came to re-measure the pool. Turns out they forgot to order the liner from their supplier and never notified us about the delay even after numerous unanswered voicemails. The liner was installed weeks after the original date. We wanted a reciept for the final payment, never received it. Both a manager and the salesman treated my wife and I with disrespect when requesting a receipt. I will never order from them again. We placed an order and they said three weeks. Six weeks and over 8 phone calls later they told us the wrong colors came in...lol. Every time i called they gave a different reason why our order is not there. some were complete lies. Ordered a doughboy pool after shopping at other pool stores and seeing the quality of the pools they sell. The price was comparable to the cheaper made pools. Antonio was our salesman and helped us when we came in both times . Delivery was quick and today installation went smoothly . If you want a cheaper made pool don't go here ...the pools here if you research are the best . We wound up with an above ground doughboy pool . Can't wait for the summer ! read more

What I thought was going to be a great experience turned out to be a disappointing experience. We had a pool installed by Backyard Masters in Farmingdale on 8/27. Filled the pool and on 8/29 I called the installer bc I was losing about 4 inches of water in 2 days!!!! He came to look and said I have holes in the liner but he isn't good at fixing them so told me to contact the store. Ok. So I called the store the same day and they put me in contact with Will. Will came and patched the holes. Ok. Well I was still losing water. So I get a hold of Will and tell him and his response was for me to find the hole and when I do let him know. Why am I looking for the hole????? I then call the store back. I have been calling them since and each time I am told they will call me and it will be taken care of. Not 1 person calls me back. I keep calling. No call returned. So I call AGAIN and I was told by Dean I should be honest with them. Really???? I said this is unacceptable business practice and I was told that is my opinion. Well I FINALLY get a call less than an hour later and I spoken to like an idiot and was told they will "bite the bullet" and I can buy a new liner at cost for a pool that isn't even a month old and he agreed with me that is looks like it was sliced with a box cutter when installing. So if you agree with me why would I paying for a new liner?!?! Go elsewhere for a pool! It took a negative review to get a phone call back only for them to say take it down or I won't help you. I was told hey are not allowed to speak to me bc I am slandering their good name. Have they see the reviews from countless people on countless websites?!?! All said and done, we ended up with a beautiful pool in our backyard. That being said, here are some positives and negatives about our experience: Positives: - show room is beautiful - sales representative was not too pushy and very informative when we went to buy the pool. - pool installer team did a beautiful job in a short amount of time and cleaned up well after the project - John (lead installer) was professional and well organized when the team came to tear down our old pool and put up our new one. Negatives: - sales representative had never informed us that we had to schedule a date and time to have the pool delivered to us prior to installation. - when I called to have the pool delivered to us, I left a message for the person in charge of that and they never got back to me. - when I called back to speak to the person I needed to in order to have the pool delivered to us, I was told that the pool would be delivered during the day. When I calmly expressed my frustration over the fact that we were not given proper guidance on their protocol (pool was scheduled to be installed just a few days later) and that I am not home during the day so that will not work for me, the representative angrily stated, "Well, what do you want me to do about it?? I will stick it in my own truck and bring it to you after 5 if that is what it takes!" - despite the above mentioned conversation with the representative, the pool delivery person called me at 1:30 PM to tell me he was almost at my house. He got there by 2 PM. When asked, he informed me that no one had told him that I needed it delivered after 5 PM. I had to leave work early to come home and move the pool pieces to our garage. Summary - good quality pool, wonderful installers, poor sales representative professionalism after you by the pool. read more

Where do I begin? When we went to Backyard Masters...we were wowed by the customer service that Antonio's provided...I mean wowed. Boy were we wrong. As first time pool owners (semi inground) 3 small children..the oldest being 3 almost 4, we put all our trust in our pool "professional"...needless to say when we walked out ... with our purchased pool...we were of the understanding that as our salesperson, Antonio's said, we would be completely up and running...ready with chemicals and all...to swim once their contractor JC Pools...were finish. Not the case...we have to hire someone to put chemicals in the pool, put our own steps to the pool up, and pay an electrician upward of $2,000 to Install the 3 prong pool electrical line.... hmmm I would think you would explain all that happens after the pool is set up...to a consumer...one who has never owned a pool. So NO Antonios...the pool will not be ready after your Installer left. Let's not get into the attitude of the installer...but that's something for his page and review. I'm not done with this... Do not buy from Backyard Masters! My wife and I bought outdoor furniture from the Farmingdale location and when it was delivered there was a glass top missing to a coffee table. We called the store and informed them of this and they said they would check their warehouse for another top. We did not hear back from them. We called them and were told that there were no tops in the warehouse, they were not ordering anymore for the season, and to call back in the spring. We called back in the spring and were told they do not do business with the manufacturer and to go buy our own piece of glass somewhere. I called the store looking to speak to a manager and was always asked to leave my number and someone would call me back. I never received a single phone call. This company has the worse customer service that I have EVER dealt with!!! I ordered a backyard table set and umbrella from them in May 2014 to be delivered in time for a party we were having in the beginning of July. A week before the party, they delivered the wrong color cushions for the chairs and the wrong color umbrella. I told them that I needed it changed immediately because we would have a lot of people over and didn't want everyone sitting on the wrong cushions if they were going to have to be sent back in. So they sent me the correct cushions with one day to spare, but never sent the umbrella. I called several times about the umbrella was promised multiple calls back, and no one ever called me back. In August, they said that they placed the order and it would be there in 2 weeks. When I called 2 weeks later, someone else called the manufacturer and was told that the replacement order was never even made! Called back again in the beginning of September for them to tell me that they ordered it "again" and it would be there in 2 weeks and they would call me when it arrives. Now it is the end of October, and I STILL haven't heard from them. Now, I will be going through this whole process again. They have done NOTHING to rectify the situation at all. May 2016 My husband and I ran out in the middle of the night to purchase a pool cover. Once we got to the store it had already been closed for 15 minuets. We were so disappointed as we had driven 35 miles to get to the store. We noticed a man doing shrub work in the front and asked him if he knew when the store would be opened the next day. He stopped what he was doing and came to our truck and said well what do you need? We explained that we had a raccoon problem and wanted to cover the pool in an emergency. The gentleman said well I'm not the landscaper but I like to keep the grounds looking their best, I am actually a salesman and I can go in and get the cover for you. We said OH WOW Thank you...your a heaven sent. He said we couldn't come in but he would look on the computer to find what size pool we had previously purchased and would bring the pool cover out to the car. Well thats exactly what he did. We gave him our card he did the transaction inside and brought the cover and the card/receipt right out to our car. What an amazing experience. He had a great smile, patient and quick and knowledgable and I could go on and on. We are now lifers to Backyard Masters!!! read more
