They have beautiful items on their website but nothing compares to being there in person because we found items to buy that were not advertised on the website. I walked inside and I thought I died and went to heaven. A friend told me about it. He asked me if I liked Ikea and I said "No, it's too plain." He asked me what I liked, and I said "I like things with curves, with texture, color, something unique, something DECORATIVE." He suggested this place and WOWOWOW I can't say enough how amazing these things are! I thought I'd check it out, 15 min in and out, well i was there for 45 minutes. They have beautiful furniture, rugs, lamps and lanterns, teapots and glasses, mirrors, rugs, beautiful armoires and chests, doors and entranceways. The prices are not CHEAP but it's reasonable for the product. Meaning, if it costs a couple of thousand it's because it's handmade and took hours to create, import, and it's big and worth the effort. The owners are nice and talked to me, helped me. My only negative is that unlike Ikea, the drawers are a bit rough. I tried some of the furniture pieces and the drawers don't open and close smoothly. There are not on metal lines with wheels like in other more modern stores, so they jam a little. But still an amazing place and lots of beautiful pieces. I'm looking forward to the teapots and things. read more

I got introduced to this cool culture by Moroccan friends. So, I was glad when Badia Design was so close to me, within walking distance from my place. I bought here cool pottery items, nice lamps - for myself or as gifts. I was sad that when they moved (not far, just down the street at their warehouse) a few years ago. I used to peek inside their store all the time when I was walking around and I found out when they had sales, etc. Had dibs. But it's still fun to browse their store (it's huge)- you can feel like you're in Marrakesh for a little while. Wonderful furniture, nicely decorated with beautiful tiles, great metal and wood work. I love their home decor, pottery and lamps, incredible pieces that make your place cooler and more exotic. Prices are high because they're imported, some are heavy pieces, there are more expenses involved. Some of the pieces have some defects, because they're handmade, or because of transportation issues. They also rent for events, I noticed their furniture at a Bastille Day event, so that's cool. Check it out when you're in the area, you won't believe what's behind those closed doors - another world. read more

Walking into this store is like taking a mini vacation to Morocco. I was in search of a couple of quintessential Moroccan lamps to add the final touch and focal point of a guest room. I found them here. My teardrop brass lamps with tiny jewel colored stained glass accents called to me as I strolled through the sprawling store packed to the max with gorgeous artifacts. I heard many calls in fact. In my fantasy I was bringing it all home. The lamps were just the right touch for the room. The entire space was instantly transformed into my Berber room. Anything purchased from this store adds Moroccan authenticity to a design. There's so much to choose from, everthing from windows to lamps to shutters, rugs and tables. All has so much character and different than the last. This is the place to go if you're looking for a totally unique piece for your space. Bring lots of money ;) you'll be happy you did. read more

Their outdoor future is terrible quality. We ordered dozens of the iron tables, chairs and sofas and nearly all of it has issues. It began to rust and paint was peeling within 2 weeks of being outside. It was so significant it would get on clothes so they needed to be refinished. Then the welds are breaking at various points on the footrests, legs, backs etc. They are all shoddy welds. I would absolutely not recommend the furniture as it is made with such poor quality. We have had to pay metal workers to re-weld everything and they have commented on how dangerous and poorly executed the welds are. We have tried to get reimbursed for the welds and the owner Mohammed from Badia ignores our requests. read more

UPDATE as of 11/28/12: The business owner contacted me and informed me that this employee is no longer with the company and they have also made some pretty significant changes for the positive. Good to hear. I can't change my star rating since I haven't been back, but just wanted to give everyone the heads up that this place sounds like it's on the up and up. ******************************************** This place should really be called Bad Idea instead of Badia, but really, they are one in the same. I came here a few years ago, pre-Yelp, and was looking to purchase some cool Moroccan lanterns for my humble abode. I had driven by a few times and seen them hanging out in front, so I figured I would pop in and see what they had. Upon entering, I was greeted by a seemingly nice and "with it" young lady. I say "with it," because that will play into the bullshit that happens in the following paragraphs. I will say that I was super impressed with the selection here. They had lanterns of all sizes and shapes and I was a bit overwhelmed over which ones to choose. The girl working here then told me that since I was having a hard time deciding, I could just borrow some, take them home and then decide which fit the space best and then bring them back. She didn't ask for a deposit, which I thought was pretty cool of a business to do that and really quite unusual, but I went with it. And so I took 3 different styles, gave her my contact info and took them home to see which ones I liked. Two days later, I returned with all three lanterns, but the girl wasn't working there that day. Instead there was an ass clown who had his own definition of customer service that fell more into the category of screaming a-hole. As I handed him back the lanterns he asked me how I got them in the first place without paying for them. I explained that the girl said I could borrow them, to which he screamed, we would never do that! Um, ya just did 2 days ago. Definitely annoyed with his rudeness, I gave him the lanterns back and told him that I wanted to purchase 4 of one style and then 2 of the other style, but he wasn't hearing it. He then found the note that she wrote with my contact info and proceeded to call me a thief. This seemed rather odd to me. A thief? Really. Well, apparently home girl wrote down that I took 4 lanterns, instead of 3 and he accused me of stealing his lantern. Yeah, that makes sense, I would actually come back to your store to return only 3. Sure. This yellfest continued for awhile and I asked him to talk to the girl, to which he screamed she doesn't work here anymore. And this is my fault, how? The worst part of this whole thing was that I totally fell in love with the lanterns and didn't not want to buy them because this guy was a jerk. SO after defending myself for what seemed like ages, I finally purchased 6 lanterns and told him to take up his "make believe stolen lantern" issue with the chick and not me. It's not my fault you hired an idiot. I swear, this guy was soo unbelievably rude that he almost brought me to tears that day and while I love those lanterns, it seriously took me a long time to get over that experience and not let his terrible business sense and rude demeanor taint my Moroccan goods. But now there's Yelp and I can share with the world what a first class fucktard this clown was. Would I say patron this store, hell no, but if you want amazing lanterns and can get past the other crap, then go for it. Just don't borrow anything. read more

What a truly incredible gem of a shop. I've never seen anything quite like it.....it's HUGE and their website does not do their inventory justice. It feels like being in a much cleaner and more organized Moroccan souk. Just beautiful. You have to literally WALK IN to this place just to become engrossed in the beauty of every item they carry, and there are more items than I had time to look at. I found this place while searching for a unique piece of jewelry for a friends' birthday. Walking in here is overwhelming and that is a GOOD thing, no it's a GREAT thing! As two reviewers said it is "the Disneyland of Moroccan goods" or "it's like taking a mini vacation to Morocco". I couldn't agree more. I arrived about 20 minutes before closing, and was greeted by Mohamed and members of his staff. I picked out the necklace for my friend, and then Mohamed encouraged me to walk around and take a look.I do wish I'd have gotten there earlier. They certainly have everything one would find in one of the legendary souks of Marrakech! I did speak with Mohamed who answered my questions about visiting Morocco myself and some pointers for my trip. Needless to say, I will be back again as there was a lot to see, and so many unique ideas of what I could add to my home, or what I could add to an early holiday shopping list. read more

I love this place! We are remodeling our bathroom and I wanted to look at the mirrors at this store. I was amazed by the selection and I wondered from one large room to the next finding gorgeous lights, mirrors... The staff was very helpful. I was surprised by the review I had read by the woman who borrowed the lanterns. I bought two sconces on line a year before going to the shop. I decided to bring them with me to see if I could return them. I did not have a receipt but I had no problem returning them. I guess the difference was that I "paid" for them. I have never heard of anyone walking out of a shop without leaving a payment or credit card information. I strongly recommend this shop for anyone who loves Middle Eastern design. read more

I love all the fantastic artwork that comes from the fine artisans in Morocco, particularly the older large ceramic urns. I have searched basically all the Moroccan web sits in the U.S., and for quality, Badia Design is right up there at the top. Just bought a beautiful 39"urn, and I'm talking quality. Unfortunately we've never been to the store since we live in Northern California. We found this place searching a Moroccan lantern online and we are so glad we did! We received possible the best customer service we've ever gotten. They made sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. They called us back multiple times and had no problems sending us as many pictures as we needed to make sure we were buying what we wanted. They have very unique pieces reasonably priced which is a huge plus. If you don't see exactly what you want in the website just ask and they will find a close alternative to offer you. There're a couple of cons: the website is a little difficult to navigate and they shipped using styrofoam which makes for a harder clean up. Overall it was an amazing shopping experience and we were very satisfied with the product we got it. We will be buying from then again for sure. read more

This place is HEAVEN for anyone who loves anything Moroccan (and who doesn't??). Save the cost of a flight to Marrakech, and just come on by to Badia. My only tiff is that they are a wee overpriced for rugs, which stopped me from buying a beautiful runner there. But I got a magnificent leather pouf for $150 that's double on some other websites. Ohhhh, my goodness! I've been here twice and it's a beautiful place! They import straight from Morocco and used to import from Syria before the war. Their stuff is absolutely stunning and you feel like you're in an underground palace. If you're looking for one-of-a-kind middle eastern looking pieces... Go here for sure!!! A totally enjoyable experience. Indeed, we are now back in LA and going there today or tomorrow to pick up some more things. We were re-doing our house. After looking on line at Badia's beautiful tile and fountains, and coming in, I found they did not have what I needed. But they were really helpful both in the showroom and at the warehouse with very competitive prices. I looked a lot of places. A few months later, I bought a wrought iron table from them. Good price. They delivered. The table is gorgeous in our yard. I recommended this place to my designer who agrees this is a great place. read more

Badia could very well be the finest Moroccan import company in the US. I have been doing business with them for over 18 years. Not only are Kalid and his some some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but they also have some of the most gorgeous Moroccan pieces you will find in or out of Morocco... and if they don't have it, they will get it! We are in the process of creating a Moroccan garden in our back yard and, with the exception of a few select items, everything in the garden was purchased from Badia. They matched tile colors and designs from tear sheets we provided. They also designed a stunning cabinet for the sink in my bathroom and a giant hand carved archway for the tented area near our Jacuzzi that is breathtaking. When something wasn't exactly right, Kalid insisted on making it perfect. I cannot recommend Badia highly enough. This garden is our dream project, and Badia make it all possible. Terrific group of folks they have been helping me for 5 years. Love this store. I have many lanterns from this store in my home. Everyone in the store was so helpful during my home renovation. They even offered decorating advice and I bought 2 screens and my contractor made them into my master king bed and guest queen bed headboards. They even recommended doing up-lighting as well. I get so many complements. I even have a medallion that 3 lanterns hang from in my dining room too. Bought material from the shop too and made it into curtains. read more

This store is absolutely stacked to the ceiling with the most beautiful Moroccan and Middle Eastern furniture and decor imaginable. I went in to buy a sofa and the selection included every style and size, plus an impressive choice of gorgeous fabrics. They carry every type of Moroccan lamp, every color and pattern of the beautiful clay and ceramic ware, tiny delicate perfume bottles and huge Arabic mother-of-pearl mosaic armoires. I lived in Morocco for three years and have never seen a collection this extensive of authentic Moroccan furniture, rugs, lamps, clothing, etc. outside that wonderful country. Walking into Badia Design's cavernous store is like taking a virtual trip to Morocco. The staff treat each customer like a friend. They will patiently accompany you through each section of their vast collection to answer all of your questions. This is the real deal, people--authentic Moroccan artifacts for your home or your movie set (they also rent tents, furniture and dishes for parties). It's overwhelming, but in a good way. i was looking for some cool morrocan furniture for my apartment and could not find any stores till a friend of mine told me that that there was one in north hollywood which was really close i went there to check it out and i was amazed with variaty of morrocan decor available. it looked like i was walking in morocco. they had beautiful lamps with many shapes and sizes. what i really liked was the moroccan mosaic tiles and tables. i end up purchasing 2 lamps and a mosaic table. they had good service so i dont no what the chick above is talking about. i suggest calling before going there because it looks like a warehouse. read more
