Whoa a clam shack by the pier with a lake side view. We grabbed a picnic table on the pier and ordered a mixed seafood special. This included fried clams, fried scallops, shrimp, calamari, and haddock. We ordered some cucumber, tomatos, and fried onions and french fries. So we pigged out. :) How can you go wrong? Easy to drive past but inexpensive, amazing food with a great view. The haddock burger is massive and delicious. The haddock is fried but doesn't have a heavy oil taste to it at all, making it a must for your visit. The chicken sub (chicken, mushrooms, bacon, and cheddar cheese) was amazing. Flavored well and served on a perfectly toasted bun. We were told by locals that the onion rings were a must, and I have to agreed; Generous serving size and fried perfectly. The jalapeño tater tots are equally delicious; paired with some ranch dip and hot sauce and it's perfection. Majority of the meal we had was fried but the great thing is that it doesn't leave you with that heavy-stomach feeling that some fried foods tend to do. The food here was fine, but did not seem outstanding, and we were put off by the rules they have. Even though it's all outdoor dining they would not allow dogs to be out of the cars, which is tricky in a hot day. And they made loud announcements about it several times if anyone tried to bring their dogs. They also had signs up forbidding rock-throwing on the beach. The lobster rolls are delicious BUT... customer service not so friendly (that's an understatement). Both Yelp and Google say the place closes at 7. Be forewarned: It closes at 6:30 on the dot. We were at the ordering window at 6:32. The young woman behind the counter said: "I hate to be mean (Uh-oh!), but we're not taking orders." We explained that we had driven 45 minutes to get there, but no luck (she missed out on a very good tip!). She then proceeded to take ice cream orders and serve the people behind us. This was a great quick option for take out dinner and the pricing was fairly cheap. Tried the salads, burgers, hot dog, and the salted caramel ice cream on a cone. Overall, if you're visiting and looking for something good and fairly fast/cheap.. check it out! The only nice thing I can say about Bagaduce is the location is scenic on the water. The staff are rude and seem to dislike tourists (the woman who took my order allowed the local in front of me to change the seafood platter to his liking then when I tried to change it in the same way, no shrimp and extra clams, rudely told me "it comes how it comes"). Also I ordered clams and scallops and was given shrimp and scallops and the staff told me I would have to buy a side of clams for $29 and refused to fix their mistake. The food was greasy and not very tasty. There are much better fried clams in Maine and much friendlier service. Was a real disappointment as I like fried clams and had read some good reviews of this place. read more

Can't believe the ridiculous signage at this place!! You must arrive 30 minutes prior to ordering your food to read it all and be ready to follow their massive litany of instructions! We've been there in past years but this year the prices went way up and the quality and quantity of the good went way down. They have blocked off the water's edge with barricades and no longer allow folks to enjoy the Maine coast. ... one of the reasons to stop at a roadside coastal attraction. When we questioned the staff about the rationale for that, they were defensive and rude. When we gave our customer feedback they were more rude. If I could give a big fat ZERO, I would! We are Maine residents and we're embarrassed by the attitude this business presents to the public. We will never go back. read more

Yikes, my first Yelp review and I'm afraid I can't give this one a good score at all. My friends and I ordered fish and chips, onion rings, and one of the large seafood plates. At first, they messed up our order and we had to go back. The fries were super undercooked. Everything was drenched in grease and looked like it had been dropped on the floor and summarily gathered up and thrown back on. I understand this isn't supposed to be fine dining or anything, but this was an order of magnitude worse than the other places I've been to around here. Additionally, the parking lot is too small to get any decent parking and the service was super slow on top of that. It's a shame because I know some people like this place (for reasons not apparent to me) but I would say steer clear. There are lots of other better seafood places around. read more

Excellent seafood shack win a gorgeous view. Stopped here for a lobster roll ($12.50 for small and $17.50 for large), ice cream, and cheese curds. Very fresh lobster, my moose tracks (chocolate and peanut butter over vanilla) ice cream was delicious, and cheese curds were perfectly salted. Good lobster rolls, fantastic location where you can watch canoeists and kayakers run the falls, but what's with the no water policy? We asked for a glass of water or even just water in our water bottle if they don't want to "waste" a cup, and they refused even after we'd just dropped $35 for two into their till for lunch. Only way we could get water was to purchase bottled water! What do they wash their hands in, Perrier? We stopped because one of us had a memorable lunch here some years ago. This was spouse's one and only and my last visit, because life is too short for mickey mouse chintziness like this. read more

The location alone should draw you in, looking over Bagaduce tidal falls, especially when the sun is low in the evening sky. You're obviously ordering a lobster roll here, and considering a side of fried clams. Everything is fresh. Not even a hint of greasiness. The lobster roll is modest -- not one of those mountains of tail meat and mayo that you have to eat with a fork and knife till you can reach the bun. Rather, it's manageable and balanced, and the fresh lobster leads the way. Perfectly satisfying. You really feel like you are eating at an iconic New England seaside seafood shack... because you are. I should begin with the caveat that I do not like lobster rolls, and am not a big fan of lobster. However, their lobster rolls are out of this world and successfully changed my opinion 180º. Prices are incredibly cheap ($20 nearby vs. $14) and the quality is the best out there. They have a large menu and most of the things I tried (my friends and I went there four times total the other week) were quite satisfactory and go great with their milkshakes! + You really can't beat the awesome view, right on the mouth of the Bagaduce River, no wonder why it attracts all the locals and everyone visiting the area! read more

Great outside location on the Bagaduce river near Castine Maine. Love the fried haddock sandwich and their sun-brewed tea. All fried dishes are fantastic. Eating outside on one of their picnic tables is divine. read more

This visit was our 4th visit here and while the menu has not changed the servings seem to have. Our clams and fish were good,nice and hot but much smaller than on our other visits. The clams were a little under cooked but overall tasty. A large soft serve was so small I actually asked the server if it was a large. It did not even come up to the rim on the cup and very little was in the cup. We will go back and hopefully today's meal meal was an exception. read more

Had lobster salad and my wife had a garden salad with a side of fried scallops. Loved the walk up service and outside seating. Lobster was a little overcooked, but not bad. Was slightly rubbery but had good flavor. Scallops were tasty but also overcooked. Scallops are tough to cook though and qe are seafood snobs. Overall we were very happy. Bought a couple tomatoes too. Brought them home to put on a big salad. Speaking of salad- their salad mixture was excellent. Veggies and greens were very crisp and cut nicely. Had a late lunch at the Bagaduce today my first time eating there recommended by a friend/local who has been going there for a while. First of all the setting is absolutely beautiful I don't know that you can find a prettier Maine setting. The scallops were absolutely delicious I had the fish and onion rings while the coating for the fish was not my favorite this is going to be my go to fish spot as the fish was delicious as were the shoestring onion rings. The only drawback was I went there probably at peak time during the peak day of the week during one of the busiest time of the year Parking was sparse but eventually I found a spot and with patience I was even able to move closer. The wait for my meal was long and hour but they were busy and I had a beautiful day and beautiful scenery to occupy me so I took a deep breath and I relaxed for an hour while I waited for one of the best lunches I've ever had. Everybody seem pretty laid-back and mellow had no issues the staff was friendly and helpful. read more

Bagaduce lunch never disappoints. I have been coming here for years with my family and it always is a highlight of our trip. I tried all sorts of lobster shacks during a two-week vacation in Orland, Me., and this place blows the others out of the water. It's in the middle of nowhere but close enough to Castine, Stonington, Blue Hill and even Bar Harbor to make the drive. The fried clams here are outstanding, briny and big, as was the fried shrimp and haddock; and all of the fried servings are enormous. My kids thought the onion rings were the best they had ever had. The lobster roll is good, thought it doesn't reach the stratospheric highs of the fried seafood. This place is technically in Penobscot, though the nearby signs say Brooksville. read more

Rude Ownership: I was looking forward to a nice lunch and heard some nice things about the picnic areas outside. I had been in my car for 5 hours with 3 kids in tow. I emptied a 5 plastic bottles and a few chip bags into the garbage / recycling can located next to the parking lot and was screamed at by a man in the kitchen for putting trash in the trash can at the restaurant. His yelling was unprovoked, callous, an insanely disrespectful to me, my family, the other patrons, and the teenagers working the kitchen who were staring in disbelief. The lobster roll was as good as any other lobster roll. He was the only Mainer I met who shouldn't be in the service industry. Bummer. read more
