Came to Key West for a small getaway with friends and pups so I had to do my homework before about all restaurants I wanted to try out while there and Bagatelle was on my list ! Ended up eating twice, luckily enough without reservations and on the actual Thanksgiving day and even accompanied by our dogs too!! All staff was nice and welcoming, and the food was amazing!! Probably my favorite restaurant in Key West. The beautiful house we're sitting in was originally built in the 1890's on Fleming street but was bought in the 70's by a local and moved to Duval. Yeah, the story of the house is cool...but the food! We had the crab cake to start. It was light, flaky, and delicious. The mojo-like sauce was amazing and the purple cabbage that comes with it is super tasty. I ordered the swordfish and my wife had the lobster tail. The risotto corn mash was on point and the fish itself was very flavorful and was thick like a piece of filet mignon. The lobster tail was delicious and I stole some of my wife's butter sauce. Fair warning, this place is pricey - but in my opinion totally worth the bill if you want a nice place to eat where the ambiance is nice, chill, and the food is excellent. read more

Best Happy Hour on Duval Street!!!!!! First Day in Key West - Starving and we just happened to walk into this place. Decided to sit in the 2nd floor bar because we desperately wanted that AC and were told AC is only on the second floor. Worked out perfect cause it was quite and very private up there. The HH menu has a bunch of delicious options. We could not agree on what to order so we got four appetizers - the brussels sprouts, the lobster mac and cheese, pork tacos, and ahi poke. The winner IMO were the tacos because they were refreshing and savory (had a delicious pineapple chutney slaw). The lobster mac and cheese came in close second with its extra creamy texture and giant chunks of lobster, well worth the $5. The drinks on HH were just as great we had a beer, the cucumber refresher, and a blueberry lemonade something. Each was better than the last. Great atmosphere and food. We sat on the 2nd floor balcony so we were able to soak in the Duval street ambiance and listen to the live music from down the street. We started off with lobster Mac& cheese and a crab cake. My wife had the seafood pasta and I had the daily special, tile fish. Everything was great. We finished sharing their key lime pie which was more like a tart with about 5 inches of meringue. There was nothing left on that plate but a few crumbs. The servers don't give you anything you need for breakfast I had to ask for a spoon for my coffee I had asked for sugar for my coffee I'd ask for ketchup I had to ask for salt and pepper they were absolutely clueless and no one speaks english. The food was terrible my Seafood omelet was overcooked and the corned beef hash was inedible. Then the best part I asked for my check to three different people all of them were clueless no one could find my check after 22 minutes one of them comes back to me and said oh your server left we thought you paid I said no I haven't paid I said so what do I do who's can I get a check or should I leave what are we doing here so finally she had to rewrite my check was just annoying and shows the incompetence of this place. Recently visited Bagatelle for breakfast. Great menu, very versatile. Coffee was excellent, lots of little rooms for dining which gave us an intimate experience. Located in Old Town, in a neighborhood, it gives off a 'just stumbled upon this great locals hangout' vibe. Cloth tablecloths, so I would make sure you look cute and presentable. I had the classic eggs benedict- it's my standard brunch order- and I loved the thin sliced canadian ham. Husband had gorgeous homemade bread- thick sliced- with his eggs. His eyes rolled back in his head. He was silent for over 20 minutes. So, a good sign he enjoyed his breakfast. Upon first bite, there was an overwhelming smell/ taste of nail polish remover, which means one of the ingredients had started fermenting, producing acetaldehyde - most likely culprit for the smell. I would have said something, but I do not thing the server was fluent in English. The presentation was basic - especially for the price. My friend's burger was good. But then again, aren't most? The final bill was $75 after tip. For 2 sandwiches, 2 mixed drinks, and one beer. Will not return. read more

When asked, the hostess couldn't tell me why they bypassed us, but just said to me that someone is paying and will be leaving. Have been waiting for almost 30 minutes now. Spoke with the manager and requested the open table. Instead asked my husband to leave because he was questioning her. In the end, that table for the "larger party" was given to 2 non-asian guests. Update: Tried making another reservation the next day. They confirmed our reservation and even approved our request for a bigger table in the afternoon. Both are must-gets when going here, and I highly recommend eating a piece of the bacon with the Brie. I ordered the lobster omelette with key lime hollandaise sauce. The citrus of the lime cut through the richness of the sauce, and didn't make the dish feel too heavy. My friend also ordered the breakfast tacos which he said were worth it.
