I stopped at thisBagel store for my first time. Customer service was not great. They do not give military discount here either. They actually do not even sell there product at the price it says on there board. They do charge if you ask for a little bit of extra butter. When they billed me it was not itemized I got an Egg Bagel with butter It's not a great bagel. Very dry even with the extra butter. There customer service was not great either they actually were pretty rude I would not recommend this place as a place to get a bagel. read more

REALLY?!?! I looked on the yelp app for a good place where I could get a nice lox sandwich on a Friday during lent. I saw this place and their Delancey street salad special. This special was supposed to be an open face bagel with cream cheese, lox, onion, tomato, lettuce, scoop of whitefish salad and served with a pickle and a potato kinish. Sounds good right? My order came up and I was given a mixed greens salad with lox on top. No bagel no cream cheese no tomato no onion no whitefish no kinish & no damn pickle. I went back up and made them aware to which they were apologetic. I showed them their listing in the app and even offered my phone so they could follow the directions. I get my bag back after more apologies and I have nothing more than a bagel with cream cheese & lox. I immediately gave it back again and now have another gentleman deconstructing the sandwich to add tomato and onion and I was assuming getting the whitefish and kinish- NOPE, WASN'T HAPPENING! So.... On the third time I received my bag back I received a bagel with cream cheese lox & tomato with RUSSIAN DRESSING ON IT?!??! WTF!!! are you kidding me!! No whitefish salad no kinish and no pickle. At this point it was getting crowded and I had to get going so I figured I would just eat what I had and call it lunch. Could not get past the Russian dressing and barely ate half balled it up and threw it in the trash. The coffee wasn't bad but in my opinion a bit on the expensive side for a plain medium coffee. $23.00 for that chit show was a bit upsetting but sadly enough I am almost expecting it these days. read more

When I worked in the area 10+ years ago, I used to get Bagel Barn almost daily. I was in love! The bagels were the perfect texture: soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Their breakfast sandwiches were also on point! They also always had great cream cheese flavors! Prices were reasonable for the area. Fast forward 10 years later, I work in the area again and I'm gluten free (bummer for bagel lovers). I decided to stop in and see what offerings they had and I noticed that they have remodeled. They always had an odd flow to the place (the area you wait to place your order and the area you wait to pick up your order cause confusion and congestion) and this has not improved. I asked if they had gluten free bagels and they do! They have pre-packaged Udi's, which is a rare offering in bagel shops. I have no great love for Udi's but it's really just a vessel for spreads and other goodness! I decided to treat myself to lox spread on a gluten free bagel and a medium coffee. Total? $11!!! Now, I get there's an up-charge for the gluten free bagel. I get lox is not cheap. However, for this price I could have gotten lox and not the spread! And the coffee was almost $3! I was expecting $8 total at worst so this was perplexing. On the upside, the service was very prompt, helpful, and polite. No complaints there. I got my bagel and coffee really fast. The lox spread was very tasty but I was not given much on my bagel. Coffee was really good, though nothing special. While I did enjoy my breakfast, $11 is a bit steep for what I received. I'm not sure if the high prices are in relation to the remodel or the fact there isn't a ton of direct competition. At best this will be an occasional treat - I would rather take the quality hit at Wawa and pay less. read more

We have been going to Bagel Barn in Skillman since they opened many many years ago. The bagels were amazing THEN. Now it seems the bagels are not always very fresh. Because of this reason we stopped purchasing bagels from there & travel much further to Plainsboro. Their tuna and coffee has always been very good & fresh so that's what I went in for this time. However what they do is charge you by the pound but never weigh their deli items...they just 'estimate', which is a violation of NJ's weights & measures. We always just 'blew it off' as they're really the only deli type place around but this time I'm angry. Went back to my office & saw that half of the container was missing. Being charged $5.75 for a half a pound of tuna when in fact it really weighed a little more an a 1/3 of a pound (food scale at work), WITH the container - another violation of WM. They should also change the channel away from News stations. The televisions are HUGE & bringing your children there to watch people getting attacked on a saturday afternoon is not a good idea. Kindness goes a long way in a business. The owner, Orlando, is such a great person and he knows all of his regulars. He makes it known that your business is appreciated. His employees are also so polite! I refuse to go to any other bagel shop other than Bagel Barn because it is absolutely top-notch. There are so many bagel places by me, but I rather make the drive here because I cannot eat any other bagel. Also, at my mom's job, all the doctors get their bagels from them because it's a go-to! Every friend I've taken here has loved it too! Once I forgot my wallet and Orlando was kind enough to let me get the bagels and pay for them later. It was truly so nice of him that he was understanding and had the trust in me to do that. Neighborhood Gem! Often go here for their great bagels, great food and fast service... or as a place to hang out for an hour to work and get out of my home office. Today they stepped it up a notch as a true neighbor as I had left my purse there. I called their answering service as it was after hours. Within minutes got a call from the owner to say that they had it and organized for me to get it from the staff at the restaurant... even though it was closed! I rarely bother to write Yelp reviews anymore, but my experience here last Wed 8/21 was despicable. At approx 11AM, I waited 35 minutes for a bagel. Counter guy was utterly confused with my order of toasted bagel with cream cheese, sliced lox, tomato, onion, capers. This is a pretty standard order here on Planet Earth. A bagel w/ CC is $3.50, add lox for approx $5 more...so how was my order over $17 with a $3 iced coffee. Does that mean my tomato, onion, and capers were an extra $5?! Tried explaining this to them, asked to speak to a manager...they couldn't even handle the lines in the middle of the day on a weekday. Trying to have my inflated order cost resolved was impossible. Tried calling the next day, asked for manager, got put on hold then disconnected. You people are a mess over there. read more

The rude staff, who forgot to make my dad's wrap after waiting 20 minutes, told him that if he had a problem with their service (or lack there of) he could call their manager. First all, why would you threaten a paying customer like that? Secondly it's nice how after we said not to bother, ya'll didn't even offer to refund us our money. If you forgot, apologize and offer to expedite it. Don't tell us to call your manager... However based upon reading reviews, it sounds like it would be an exercise in futility. Either you won't get through to be hung up on, or the owner seems to threaten his employees, likely to the point where they retaliate on customers. This business hasn't been claimed on Yelp after so many years. The test of a good and delicious bagel place, at least for me, is the everything bagel. Does it have enough "everything" and is the ration of salt amongst all those dried seasonings just right? Is the dough of the bagel overwhelming or just enough bite and air? The next time you order a everything bagel anywhere ask yourself these questions. Then you will be able to judge how good said bagel place is and how much they value you as a customer. I say all this this to tell you bagel barn makes a great bagel and if you are interested in cutting calories even their everything "flagel" (flat bagel) was delicious and had the perfect amount of flavor. They are to some a little bit more $ than some other places but it's worth it when you get this perfectly balanced bagel. The dough not too dense but not skimpy. The Bagel Barn is a simple place, with limited fare (breakfast and lunch), and, as one would suspect, the specialty is bagels. But--oh, what bagels!!! I grew up in Manhattan and have had many, many bagels, and have also tasted from different places in the US and Canada. However, these are absolutely the BEST bagels I have had...ever! There is also an excellent array of spreads (cream cheese and otherwise). The coffee is good and fresh, too. This place is a 'must,' for the best bagels you will find anywhere. Best bagels in the area, easily. These bagels could impress any New Yorker or New Jerseyan. And that's hard to do, because we're not stupid. The bagels are super yummy and the spreads are great. My favorites are the french toast bagel and the walnut cream cheese. The salt, egg, and onion bagels are great, too. Onion is a funny word. I like to pronounce it "ONYON!" for extra emphasis. I credit Bagel Barn for never judging me on this. And they barely look at me weirdly when I yell it during my order. Also this place has alliteration in its name so you know it's good. read more

Fact: The best bagel sandwiches are born and raised in Princeton, New Jersey. Super Fact: That is 173 miles from where I live (currently.) Optimum Fact: This distance does not deter me from gormandizing Bagel Barn whenever (and as frequently as) possible. The deli selections are fantastic - more salads and meats to choose from than you would ever imagine coming from a bagel place - or even a normal sized grocery store. Great variety of bagel types - just as you would expect. Get food bagels everything eat it now. Depending on the time of day and how long it has been since my last visit, I get a... Breakfast Bagel Sandwich - Bacon, Egg, & Cheese on a blueberry bagel. It is not actually a blueberry bagel unless the bagel itself is blue, and these are as blue as they get. Real egg. Real bacon. Real cheese. Really melted. Really blue. Super good. Lunch Bagel Sandwich - Tuna on an everything bagel with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and spicy mustard. Get. This. In. Your. Mouth. Now. I don't know what it is about their tuna...but it is amazing. So depending on the time of day, I get one (or both) of those sandwiches, and then take some bagels to go. The people that work there are super nice and make you feel right at home, even if you don't know exactly what you want super fast right away. Watch out, they close earlier than you would expect most days (3 or 4pm) so don't dilly dally on your way there. However I was barely able to taste the pork roll or egg because of how little was on the sandwich!! This is my childhood bagel place and one of my favorite bagel places in Jersey--maybe even one of the best for reasons beyond food. First, before I praise the food, I have to give a proper shoutout to the staff. The proprietor, Orlando, is down to earth and runs a tight ship. It speaks volumes that people who have worked there years ago as teenagers still come back whenever extra hands are needed. Not all the staff is perfect, but who is? Next, I love the menu here. They have a very wide variety of bagel flavors, spreads, deli meats, and breakfast sandwiches available, with very few, if any, gimmicks (no rainbow bagels with birthday cake cream cheese). I normally order a whole wheat or whole wheat everything bagel, scooped, with either an egg white, cheese and ketchup, or a small amount a low fat cream cheese (and as with any Jersey bagel place, small really means an ample amount). You can't really go wrong with either style. In fact, whenever I would need to fly back to college in the Upper Midwest (a bagel wasteland!), I would also stash a baker's dozen in my suitcase beforehand. Overall, however, the real testament to how good of a place Bagel Barn is is the fact that it is simply a good place to just hang out. That was my go to spot in high school, and I'm glad to see that that hasn't changed. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place to any bagel lover; no matter how far you are, this place is worth the trek. read more

I'm sorry but if you're gonna charge me that much for a bagel please let the bacon be fresh and let the sandwich include cheese and eggs. Staff was also very rude! I was confused as to where I had to place my order and pay, and the worker raised his voice at and when the clerk was telling me how much my total was I could not hear him so I asked him to repeat and said "please". So, this is about the 4th time I've been here. They are consistent - consistent in making me wait. Simple plain bagel with cream cheese and a plain bagel - nothing toasted or complicated. No one at the line when I walked in... no one waiting to the side... few people come in after, order, get their orders and leave. I ask what's up? they said it was coming... nothing... i ask again... they scramble around, ask me for my receipt and find it in the pile of called in orders. Bagel Barn is my favorite bagel shop. I study in Colorado, where I can never seem to find a good bagel shop, so it's always relieving to be back at the Barn. Their bagels are larger than those of the New York style and come in an extensive assortment of types. I bet you can find your favorite here. I fancy their blueberry and plain flavors, but am open to try all of them. The Barn has a menu like no other. From omelettes to sandwiches and soups, they have it all. Beverages are the same. It's definitely a place for all kinds of eaters. Prices are more expensive for the foods they sell, but should not run you more than $10 for a meal. They offer great desserts and gift cards as well.
