From Utah and found this gem on Yelp while visiting family for a few days, we loved it so much we ate there both mornings we were in town. The bagels were fresh and yummy, we don't have any good bagel places in Utah so this was a treat for us. The coffee was excellent and the best of all was the Black and White cookie. Oh yum! The conundrum here is the bagels are good- BUT some of the staff never changes their gloves, which defeats the purpose of wearing gloves in the first place. I used to go here once a week, as it's on my way to work and who doesn't like an everything bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese (amiright)? One day as I'm paying for my delicious breakfast, I had the guy a 20 and without taking his gloves off, makes change and says "have a nice day" and smiles. Again, conundrum! Great bagels, service with a smile- but why are you making change with the same gloves that made my bagel. What else are you doing while wearing gloves?? Dah! Beau and I stumbled upon the Bagel Basket in search of the ultimate NY bagel experience possible on Long Island. Left very very happy : ) Ordered a whole wheat bagel w two eggs, turkey, and cheese. The cheese was perfectly melted.. can not stress how yummy it was! Also, ordered a scrumptious nutty banana muffin.. w homemade butter (25c)! Very excited to find this delicious bagel place located near my grandparent's assisted living home. My family and I can't stand the food at their place (sorry grandpa!) so we are always looking for easy and convenient places nearby. My dad found this gem on our way to pick up the G's and it was the perfect place for the five of us. I got bacon, egg and ketchup on a whole wheat bagel--delish! The bacon was cooked just right and wasn't fatty at all. My mom got cream cheese and lox on on an everything bagel and said it was great. My dad and grandma loved their french toast, and my grandpa couldn't even finish his pancakes they were so filling! The muffins, bagel spreads, cookies, and pastries all looked incredible. I definitely want to come back here the next time I visit my grandparents. read more

Bagel basket is pretty expensive and not worth what you pay for. To make matters worse some staff members have rude attitudes when it's completely uncalled for. I guess they hate their jobs and take their anger out on customers. I will definitely NOT recommend this place and will not be returning. Go to Avenue Bagels instead it's about a 10 minute drive from Bagel Basket but it's definitely worth the drive! read more

I've been going here for some time now but it seems that more recently there may be a new owner. All the staff is new and I have found the service is not what it was. There are now long waits, food is still good but I noticed every wrap I get is soggy. It's disappointing. Used to be i'd go in the morning before work and be in and out. Awesome bagels, awesome service, the menu has so much to offer and for pretty good prices. *Just for the record, this is the first place I've seen the rainbow bagel and that was at least three years ago.* This isn't just a local bagel place, it has so much more including yummy sandwiches that you can't choose from because there are so many to decide on. There aren't many Yelpers in this part of Long Island! So I wanted to be sure and review this breakfast place upon our return from vacation. We went here on a whim - stood up by a relative for breakfast before going to the airport. GREAT selection of bagels and cream cheeses, and even better presentation! This place is bright and airy, in a good location, and has decent prices. They put a full half-inch to inch of smear on our bagels (a bit much for me!) and warmed them for us. We also bought some fudge, some cookies (that had expired on the shelf - oops!) and good drinks. If you live in the area or happen to be staying in a hotel nearby - pop in there. It took me a while to make it to this restaurant but a rare Saturday work day and no coffee at home brought me to the Bagel Basket Cafe in Commack. Upon arriving at 7:30am, I found a clean, bright restaurant with tables and a strategically-placed television playing a World Cup match. Near the kitchen, there was a long deli and sandwich counter with a variety of salads and muffins. In front were two cashiers ready and willing to take my order. I had the Classic wrap, which is scrambled eggs, sausage -- you could have bacon or ham -- and American Cheese in a plain wrap. When I ordered coffee, my cashier pointed me toward the coffee bar which had a variety of coffee and several creamer choices... half 'n half, French Vanilla, whole milk and skim. Across from the coffee bar was a sizable refrigerated cooler contained juices, milk, and other items. My order was to go and the whole thing came to under $6. The wrap was delicious, although I found the cheddar cheese just a tad too much, but it wasn't at all drippy. The coffee was also good. For lunch, Bagel Basket Cafe serves paninis, salads, and other items. I'll have to go back to try those, BBC has a website which allows you to order in advance, but the online site doesn't do the breakfast menu justice. The wrap that I described was not detailed on the website; so, even though I knew I was going to stop there, I didn't order in advance because I wasn't sure of the contents of the meal. However, all in all, I was so pleasantly satisfied that I'll have to give the Bagel Basket Cafe a return visit. read more

This place was terrible. The staff was rude and disorganized. Fifteen minutes for two egg sandwiches, one of them was made wrong (2 eggs instead of 1) and the other had very burnt bacon (black). And it was ridiculously expensive and the coffee was terrible. read more

Great quick fix breakfast spot. Ordered eggs over easy on a sesame bagel (salt, pepper, ketchup), it was very fresh and tasty and the coffee was delicious. Staff couldn't be friendlier, unless of course they put it on the house... didn't happen. read more

If your favorite ingredient in chicken salad is sugar, than this is the place for you. I wouldn't be surprised if one of Bagel Basket Cafe's employees has a position called "sugarer," their job being to put a little sugar into everything. This is what some places do in order to enhance the flavor of their food, (think monosodium glutamate or MSG, like at a Chinese food place). Imagine taking a bite of a chicken salad sandwich that has the grainy texture and sweetest level of frosting. I should have thrown that sandwich against the wall (I trashed it after one bite) and left. Maybe if I was 5-years-old and/or didn't have any kind of taste palate I would go to Bagel Basket Cafe again. Diabetics steer clear; you may order egg-salad or plain cream cheese on a bagel and wind up being rushed to the emergency room. Offensive, low-brow, 4th-rate experience; I'd be surprised if Bagel Basket Cafe is still around 6 months to a year from now. read more

Meh. The food is okay, the different flavored cream cheeses and sandwiches are good. It's almost always busy because of the location: just north of the LIE. However, the prices are entirely too high for a bagel place and the poor attitudes of most of the employees. It is larger than most LI bagel places and you see people and their families sitting and enjoying their meals in comfort here rather than going to a diner. I have sat at the tables once and they were dirty. I returned a second time to find the same so I just walked on out with my overpriced bagel. I will not go a third. read more

Another very good bagelry/deli on Long Island. Reminiscent of Long Island bagel cafe or Brendels. Wide selections of breakfast items , salads, sandwiches and soups. The black diamond coffee was hot and plentiful. Place was very clean, and staff treated me just like a regular even though I'd never been in here before. Service was fast. My egg, bacon and cheese on a roll was tasty, although unremarkable. News 12 on the flat screen in the dining area, but with the satellite radio playing the news is muted and couldn't follow it. It seemed pointless to have the tv on. Place seems real popular with road crews. Think I figured out why the potholes aren't being fixed. read more

Ordered breakfast for my staff and I am EMBARRASSED to serve this. I ordered bagels and danish for thirty people and received fifteen bagels, six muffins and two danish. I ordered fruit for twenty and received a 5 pounds of melon with a couple of grapes and strawberries sprinkled on the top. $240 dollars. Not sure about who's writing these reviews but this is by far one of the best bagel spots ever! And this is coming from a former queens girl. I live in Nassau county now and find the bagels to be less then spectacular lol... my son plays baseball out here and last week I stumbled upon this bagel shop and all week I couldn't stop thinking about this week's game (not for the baseball but for the bagels lol) this week my husband came along and opted for a sandwich and I must say I would drive the 30 minutes for the sandwich he had it was some sort of chicken cutlet and deliciousness omg... anyhow the prices are incredible as well! I come here every other weekend to pick up Sunday breakfast....Best Bacon egg and cheese sandwich you can get in the area! They also make eggs any style you want, and make them perfectly, on a platter/toast whatever. Their deli sandwiches are pretty good also, they make a decent Italian sub, but I would stick to breakfast here. They also have great cheese Danishes. Overall, if you want a great breakfast sandwich this is definitely the place to go in the area. read more

LETTUCE WRAPS!!! I used to work in the area years ago and I still stop in occasionally for a great sandwich. I usually go for the thunderbird but last time I got an Italian and both are delicious. Very nice place, the food is good. What I don't like is they sneak in a 4% additional charge if you pay by credit or debit card. They don't even tell you but if you look at your credit card receipt it's more than what the cashier tells you. I mean what the heck, aren't credit card fees a cost of doing business. Bad customer service. People here are very disrespectful. I was the only one waiting online for like 4 minutes while here was at least 5 people cleaning and doing other stuff but not taking orders, so I went and ask the puertorican guy if i could order, he looks at me and says: "dont you see we are all doing something? What the hell do you want?" Last time I checked customers come first. So after that and many other bad experiences I stopped going there. I would spend $7 a day five days a week so that $140 a month you lost for being so disrespectful. read more

If i could give 0 stars i would...Ordered from here this past weekend for food while getting ready for my wedding. All i have to say is on an already stressful day, this bagel store made it WORSE. The food was terrible and cold. I called to complain and the manager "Meredith" states she could not help me, that i would need to speak with the owner. When i asked for the owner, Meredith states he works out of multiple locations and does not "speak very well English." Meredith then offered to send us bagels but states she would have to charge us for them as she is "just the manager and cannot give things away for free." Good food, horrible service! If you need something small or fast this is not the place; unless you have all day to wait for something that should take 1-2 minutes! Stingy portions compared to other delis, overpriced compared to other delis, and very inconsistent and inaccurate with items on their own menu, where the ingredients are listed right under the titles! I used to really enjoy this place, but recently they have gone seriously downhill. Used to get a pickle with every hero, along with a side of coleslaw, mac salad or potato salad. They're still pretty good with the sides, but the pickle is hit or miss. I know, sounds like a nitpick and it is, no big deal really. They started a minimum charge on credit cards but that didn't last long. I'm thinking someone might have reported them because that is against Visa and MasterCard terms of service. What is also hit or miss, and a big deal, is the ingredients of a hero. When the item lists bacon, you expect bacon. Honestly, that didn't happen too often at all but what really put me off this place is their poor day planning. How do you run out of hero's at 1:30pm? And I'm not talking about this being a rare thing. 3 different visits after 1pm I was met with the "we're out of heros" line. If you see you are pretty consistently running out of things wouldn't it make sense to have more on hand from the start? Obviously this place is still pretty popular and their food is pretty good, hence the 2nd star, but come on now. Plan better and you won't lose customers like me. WORST SERVICE EVER!! I called and ordered for delivery and work about 1 mile away. It took the order 50min to get to me. I ordered 2 ice coffees, 1 everything bagel with cream cheese and 2 french toast bagels, 1 with veggie cream cheese and 1 with regular cream cheese. 1 of the ice coffees I ordered with only 2 sweet n lows and they gave me about a cup of sugar. the bagel with the veggie cream cheese wasnt even veggie, and the girl who answered the phone said she had to check if they even had it. what bagel shop doesnt have veggie cream cheese??? the french toast bagels were just brown sugar loaded on the top of the bagel, not even on the bottom. And the bagel didnt even taste like french toast!!! if i wanted a brown sugar bagel, i would have ordered it. and to kick it off, the check was wrong as well when i got the food. the girl clearly didnt check her ticket and made up some bogus crap to tell me that they had to check if they had cream cheese?!?!? read more

This bagel place has ok food however it is clear all they care about is the money. Customer service is not even a thought. I went the other day and purchased food (sandwiches, spreads, bakery items, etc.$$$$$) It was 3:50pm and the bagels are 1/2 priced at 4pm they made me stand at the counter for 10 minutes so I could get the discounted price. I used to go twice a week and bring bagels to work. It appears to have changed ownership and all of the staff, who were great, left. I did not see one person change their gloves. I asked the person helping me to change them which he did but was visibly annoyed. Then when I paid with my debt card I questioned why the amount was different and told me they charge a fee for using cards. I said this was really tacky. The person helping me said that I seem to have a lot of concerns and the owner was here if you want to speak with him. I tried it one more time since it is very close to where I live and this time I had cash on me and again no one was changing their gloves. Absolutely delicious! I am from CT and was starving and unfamiliar with the area. I found this little bagel shop and couldn't be more pleased! They have a ton of soup, salad, panini, sandwich, bagel, and dessert options. I got the"north ridge" eggplant panini and it was absolutely awesome! It came on a Rosemary panini roll which I definitely recommend. The sweet potato soup was warming and full of flavor. Just grosses me out. Was there during the summer and some sweaty three year old in shorts was sitting on the counter. This week there were flies on the bagels. I was next on line with 4 people behind me and the blond women behind the counter i guess didn't see us.
