Great food, great service and easy to get to. I have been here 4 or 5 times and every time it is great. There is a nice little patio area if you want to enjoy your food abd beverages outside or you can take it with you. Always hits the spot. The two men working the counter and making the food are always nice and informative. Will be back again and again. The sausage, egg, cheese bagel is great. My husband loves the Lox in the everything bagel.

Jalapeño bagel sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese

When I pulled into the parking lot, I was like where in the world is this bagel spot?! I saw it on maps so I knew it had to be here! Silly me was looking for a storefront. This place, although small, is so perfect. I came for bagels today at 9am and they already had a couple customers. One which was a regular. After trying the cashier's recommended bagel sandwich, I'm gonna have to become a regular too because WOW. Their sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich was the best thing ever. Egg was fluffy, sausage was not super thin like most places, perfect amount of cheese - and the jalapeño bagel was delicious. Gonna have to stop by again soon!

Just a small little box actually lol in the parking lot by shell. The man working had a great attitude and friendly and helpful. He was so fast and paid attention to all guests. The coffee was good and I will come back when in the area. They have a nice little area if you want to sit and hang out in the parking lot with fake plants around it so you don't completely feel like you're in a parking lot

It's a tough call. I really wanted to really really like this place. It's a great idea in a convenient location. And they've really made the outside cute with three tables so there's a good seating area. The prices also seemed reasonable and the staff seems really friendly. Here's my issue: the cinnamon raisin bagel, while having a nice chew, didn't really have any flavor. Frankly, I couldn't taste either the cinnamon or the raisins. additionally, their hours are only 8 AM to 3 PM. This means that it's inconvenient to stop by (actually not possible) either before or after work. They also have a rewards program that you can add to your Apple wallet if you like. If I could give 3 1/2 stars, I would. But since we can only give whole star ratings. I'm going to have to go with three.

Owner's very cute and friendly dog

I got an Asiago bagel with cream cheese and a large oatmilk matcha with honey. Both were very good. The bagel was crisp on the outside and not dry at all. The matcha was very delicious with the right ratio of creaminess to flavor. The owner, was super friendly and efficient -- it took less than 2 min for everything to be ready. Bonus points that he had a very friendly and sweet pup outside, just happily sunbathing.

Small shop/box in an easily accessible location. Good water bagel, toasted with not a lot but just enough cream cheese (which I like).

I came in around 9am and they were already sold out of some items, but I did manage to get my hands on one of their famous croissants! I ended up getting the Pistachio Raspberry Croissant and Chocolate Chip Cookie. Both pastries are PHENOMENAL. The Bay Area truly does have a fantastic pastry (especially croissant) scene, but Backhaus is definitely up there. I loved how well the flavors came through in both, and the textures were great. They were also baked perfectly. I definitely want to try more of their offerings in the future! In general, this place well deserves the hype.

I tried the cheesy twist, morning bun, and the ham and cheese croissant. I am pretty sure I tried other things but I can't remember exactly what but these were the stars. The cheesy twist kind of tasted like there was an Alfredo type sauce along with the cheese. It was delicious. One thing I wish I would have done is ask for it heated because I saw some other people doing that and it looked delicious. The morning bun was so good. It had a beautiful medley of spices that truly brightened your morning. The flavors were so balanced. As for the ham and cheese croissant, the star was the ham. The flavor of the ham reminded me of a thanksgiving ham. It was amazing! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. I regret not getting a full loaf of bread to take home with me.

Creamy matcha with wide selection! I was in the area and was recommended this place by a friend!…read moreIt's located in downtown Burlingame so it's a quick grab while shopping at different shops. There's a self-ordering kiosk at the front that takes place instead of a real person taking your order. There's 3 tables to sit and do work or just chat with friends. We got our drinks pretty quickly after ordering. Drink: Strawberry Matcha Einspanner (8.2/10): Super creamy matcha latte! The default is 50% sweetness and it was honestly perfect. I got this drink with whole milk and the matcha combined very well into the drink with no clumps or separating after initial mix. The strawberries tasted very fresh and added a nice tartness and sweetness to the drink! Would definitely get again when I'm in town.

TL;DR: expensive drink but worth every penny…read more I popped by on a random weekday afternoon after a client meeting and was looking for a sweet treat. There was no line at all, so my drink came out really quickly. Service was efficient, and basically non existent since you order on your phone, and pick it up from the counter. They have some seats indoors and a few benches outside, it's pretty spare and basic inside which is all you really need in a cafe. I saw a lot of people getting takeout, and some small groups around tables chatting. I was debating between the matcha and houjicha, then got intrigued by the black sesame, and finally after much internal debate, decided that black sesame + houjicha would work best together and wanted the einspanner. They honestly have so many intriguing options like Earl grey matcha einspanner??? Banana pudding?? I have to come back. My only complaint is the price but I guess everything is expensive these days. $8/9 for one of these drinks hurt my heart though. On the flavors: while I wish there was more black sesame (I always do), this was one of the most satisfyingly black sesame items I've had from a cafe. It went really well with the toasty roasty notes from the houjicha and I think they added enough of both amidst the milk to make it a very satisfying drink. This can be rare because a lot of places drown out all the flavors with too much milk. The best part though, was the einspanner - the sweetened whipped cream on top really brought the whole drink together and was so delicious. It made it just that little bit more decadent. I got it at minimal sweetness and at first though it wasn't enough, but I was glad I did as I worked my way through the cup, it was perfect.

While the design was cute and the crepes were thin, there wasnt enough biscoff creme (only about 1 layer for every 4-5 layers of plain vanilla creme) for the flavor to really come through. For a special holiday flavor like this, we expected a stronger biscoff flavor. If theres a special again, we'd be willing to give another flavor a try!

I'd definitely come back to try the other fruity drinks too! we ordered the tom yum noodles, preserved vegetables & pork noodle soup, salt & pepper fries, and the HK style french toast with peanut butter. the french toast was our favorite- it was fluffy and chewy and was just like the HK classic. the noodle dishes were both so hearty and flavorful too, and the portions were a good size. it did take a bit long for everything to come out, but it did seem like there was only one person working and she was very kind and accommodating when we had questions about our order. we didn't mind at all, especially sitting outside and enjoying the view! overall, I'll for sure be back for the drinks and to try some other HK style street food.

If I just ordered the drinks, it might have been a better experience. The fries were okay, nothing special - they were a bit softer than I like. The siu mai was just bad. I'm not sure where it comes from, but it was gummy in texture and tasted like frozen food. There were only 5 small pieces and we still couldn't finish it. The drinks were priced fairly, but the snacks were overpriced for what it is. You order at a kiosk so there isn't much service to talk about, but we did have to ask for a ketchup a few times before they remembered to bring it to us. Maybe I'll go back to try the actual food dishes.
