    Cronuts
    Andrea P.

Because one bite explains everything they're so good they genuinely live up to the name of happy donuts. I've got a bag of cronuts right now, and honestly, nothing beats a cronut, baby. Perfectly bite-sized, kind of like an almond butter croissant, but less toasty, more airy, and just pure greatness.

Greetings to all, this is not my first time to this shop- The parking for this shop is shared with the other surrounding businesses in area. An B for me. Inside the shop it is modestly lit , but works well for what they are trying to achieve. The service is always great when I coming here, and mom is outstanding. The food - numerous succulent creations is what keeps me coming back for more. Mmm Nice job Happy Doughnuts for always keeping your customers Happy.

Whenever we're in the area, we always stop at Happy Donuts for a dozen of these cronut holes. There are so many options with different flavors of donuts but the cronut holes are my favorite. They're almost double the price for the regular donut holes but they are well worth it. Each piece is the perfect combination of flaky pastry and the light sugar glaze on the outside. They are soft and buttery and sooo delicious. I can eat a dozen of these on my own and not be aware that I finished them all

It should be no secret by now that I LOVE donuts. Whether it be the trendy kind, the chain kind, the mochi kind, or the classic kind...so long as it's not the supermarket kind (they're always so stale!), I'm probably going to be a fan. So, when the gf mentioned coming to this particular Happy Donuts to check out the cronuts, hearing that was more than enough to get me onboard! Inside, this place looks just like the mom-and-pop, neighborhood donut shops I love to frequent - semi-dated decor, friendly workers behind the counter, pots of coffee sitting on warmers, and cases filled with donuts. Clearly, the most notable ones are their aforementioned cronuts (or "doissants", as they're called on the menu) which come in a handful of flavors, but they also have an equally enticing selection of old fashioned, cake, raised, twists, cruellers, buttermilk, fritters, jelly filled, and more. In addition, they also have a collection of breakfast sandwiches that I ended up coming back for, as well as a Vietnamese coffee that I couldn't resist trying! -- VIETNAMESE ICED COFFEE...$5.95 Not as good as what you can get from a Vietnamese restaurant or coffee shop, but it more than satisfied my craving. Although it wasn't super strong, this still had a nice hit of caffeine and wasn't insanely sweet (though, it's still sweet). -- CHOCOLATE COVERED CRONUT...$3.25 I worried this was going to be rather gimmicky, but it was surprisingly solid. I loved how you can easily see all of the flakey layers of the croissant and the texture was really nice - browned and crispy on the outside yet soft and moist on the inside. -- CRONUT HOLES Not too shabby, but I'm not sure I'd get this again. On the plus side, these are lighter than classic donut holes and are perfect if you want just a bite. The latter of which might be for the best, as these were so sweet from the icing. -- CHOCOLATE OLD FASHIONED Pretty standard, for better or worse. Meh...this was fine. I liked the taste of the chocolate icing and that it wasn't super sugary. However, the donut itself was just okay - a little dry on the outside, though still moist on the inside. -- BREAKFAST SANDWICH #1 with Egg, Bacon, Ham, Cheese, and Jalapeno on a Croissant Ehh...not bad, but nothing special either. The croissant wasn't too buttery/oily and the egg was fine, but the bacon was really dry and the jalapenos were that pickled type you get on nachos at sporting events. Beyond the food, the thing I like most about this particular Happy Donut are the nice ladies who work behind the counter. Each time I've been here, they've always been super sweet and friendly. Of course, it didn't hurt that we ended up getting a couple of extra cronuts! Since this place is so far from where I am in the city, I can't say I'll be back all that often, especially since my go-to donut (Chocolate Old Fashioned) was just okay. However, if/when I'm in the area and the craving strikes for a cronut and/or a Vietnamese coffee, I wouldn't hesitate to come back for a treat! THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded up.

Cronuts are good! Brought a dozen into work. Everyone enjoyed them. Not too sweet, and they're fluffy but buttery layered.

Decided to come here over the weekend to get a simple and delicious sweet treat! We came around 3pm and pretty much everything was gone. One of the my friends brought the cronut holes one day and I couldn't stop thinking about them ever since. Literally the best invention ever! The cronut holes are nice and fluffy, not too sweet too which I highly enjoyed. I do want to come back and try the cronuts in the morning to compare difference in the flakiness and freshness of the croissant. The lady that helped us also gave us custard filled donut holes which were an absolute game changer! I personally don't like custard filled donuts.. but donut holes?! Sign me up! A dozen cronut holes + 2 glaze cronuts came out to $15. The lady even threw in an extra donut for us :) will definitely be visiting again soon, come here for your cronut cravings!

Everytime we come around this side of the bay we always make a stop here!! Small donut shop with plenty of parking. This time we came later in the afternoon which was great no line. Lady was friendly and pleasant. We always get their cronut holes by the dozens because we usually eat half the box by the time we get home. They are so good, light, fluffy and delicious. Can't leave without their Vietnamese iced coffee so good but be warned they are strong.

I am confident and it's safe to say this place is hands down solid. Ever since my first review, we have ordered a bunch of donuts, cronuts, and breakfast sandwiches. I've even ordered large orders for my sons' birthdays parties. Their cronuts are sooo good and the filled cronut holes are even better! Custard or jelly filling, both are hitters! The breakfast sandwiches are one of the best. It's simple and they make it right in front of you (hint: go for the croissant breakfast sandwiches). The place is tiny but the nice ladies working there get you in and out. This place is a staple for us whenever we are wanting a treat.

Come here specifically for the cronuts and cronut holes! Easy parking since it's located in a plaza.

I was craving some sweets after the gym so came here around 12:30pm. I walked in and I was greeted at the door by the nice lady at the counter. Usual around this time of day the selections at most donut shops are limited because they sell out mostly in the morning but these guy's still had a good selection. I saw here on yelp that people suggested their cronuts so I wanted to give it a try. I got one cream cronut. (It was a cronut cut in half and sandwiched with some like whipped cream.) A yeast chocolate topped and cream filled donut, Glazed Yeast Strawberry berry jelly filled one, and a regular chocolate yeast donut. I also got a bottle of milk. The cronut itself was really delicious in my opinion. It had a sugar glazed on top and I loved how buttery and flaky it was. The cream in the middle gave it a nice touch and although it had the sugar glaze I didn't think it was overly sweet. I really enjoyed it and tbh I thought to myself that it was a good thing I only go one because if I got a dozen I woulda ate it all in one sitting. The other donuts I enjoyed to as well because when it comes to yeast donuts(which are my favorites) I think if it's dough is airy, fluffy not hella dense and chewy like some of the other donut spot, then it's a really good donut and these were all of that and to top it off the filled ones were filled really good. These guy's didn't skimp on the filling. I was able to take a picture of the jelly filled ones. So over all I will be coming back again and this is definitely one of the better donut shops in the area for sure. I hope when y'all try them you enjoy them just as much as I did

I absolutely love their kind service and their coffee is SO GOOD! The cronuts are perfection. I always get chocolate covered cronut and a Vietnamese coffee. Their ice is the yummy good ice. Exactly what you want when you think of a donut shop

Came back for the breakfast sandwiches on a Sunday morning. Ordered #1 and #6 and both were delicious. Ordered a couple donuts and those were great too. The Vietnamese coffee was better than I remember. The inside is cramped, but the ladies working that morning were hustling and keeping things moving steady. They do a good job of making sure no one is skipped.

Backhaus has been on my radar for forever, so I was so excited to finally try them on a Sunday…read moremorning. I came in around 9am and they were already sold out of some items, but I did manage to get my hands on one of their famous croissants! I ended up getting the Pistachio Raspberry Croissant and Chocolate Chip Cookie. Both pastries are PHENOMENAL. The Bay Area truly does have a fantastic pastry (especially croissant) scene, but Backhaus is definitely up there. I loved how well the flavors came through in both, and the textures were great. They were also baked perfectly. I definitely want to try more of their offerings in the future! In general, this place well deserves the hype.

The bakes here was some of the top ones I have had. I tried a couple of bakeries on my road trip up…read morethe Pacific Northwest and this was one of my favorites! I tried the cheesy twist, morning bun, and the ham and cheese croissant. I am pretty sure I tried other things but I can't remember exactly what but these were the stars. The cheesy twist kind of tasted like there was an Alfredo type sauce along with the cheese. It was delicious. One thing I wish I would have done is ask for it heated because I saw some other people doing that and it looked delicious. The morning bun was so good. It had a beautiful medley of spices that truly brightened your morning. The flavors were so balanced. As for the ham and cheese croissant, the star was the ham. The flavor of the ham reminded me of a thanksgiving ham. It was amazing! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. I regret not getting a full loaf of bread to take home with me.
