I really wanted to give this place a better rating. I came here to get me a breakfast before my flight but took about 10 minutes to make my breakfast sandwich. My friend owns a donut shop that serves breakfast sandwiches and he's quick. He makes the sandwich while his cashier takes the orders. They do have a variety of bagels. Their breakfast sandwich are pricy. I'm not from the area but we yelped the closest to where we had to meet up with coworkers in the area. They do have a few seats if you what's to dine in. They went light with the cream cheese, egg was over medium, and the bacon was crispy. The bagel itself was standard, not too hard, not too chewy, and did what it needed to do. The breakfast bagel overall was just ok though. They definitely have raised prices over the years which is to be expected in 2025. $15 after tax and tip for a breakfast bagel is a bit more than I'd like to spend to eat it on a regular basis. When I read that this used to be a House of Bagels, it made so much more sense. There is no air conditioning in the tiny space, and the heat almost knocked me over in there. Limited seating too, although I wouldn't have wanted to eat in there as it was oppressively hot. There was an extensive selection of toppings for your bagel. There is no bathroom. I had to walk to a nearby Starbucks. I find that ridiculous frankly, as i was bursting. My tuna salad bagel was so good though. I'd never considered tuna salad on a bagel before but when I saw it on the menu, immediately selected it. Local bagel place, with a stand at the Sunday farmers' market selling bagels. It's always nice to have a place like this locally, because who doesn't love a simple bagel sandwich? They have lot of concoctions and specialty sandwiches, basically every ingredient you can imagine, in every kind of combination you can imagine. Depending on your own preferences and whether you have decision paralysis, it could be pretty great! My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 10 year anniversary by ordering in :) We were met with disappointment and disgust by receiving a cinnamon roll with mold on it. We do not recommend this place, even if they claim to be in business for 40 years "with experience". As a food delivery driver myself, I don't understand why there's always a lot of people going in and out of there after this experience. I'm not trying to bash on the business. I tried calling multiple times to let them know to check their rolls but was met with an "enter your code" message after the rings instead of the option of leaving a voicemail. I brought my family to try this place. After spending a min or two looking at the menu board I realized there were no prices on the menu. I asked how much the Cobb was. The worker told me the price of a regular sandwich. So I asked again how much a Cobb was, and where do I find the prices? He said it's on the printed menus. So I grab a printed menu and step aside to study it. Not a single price on there either. So I ask the worker again where the prices are on the menu. He says which item do you want to know? However when we got there it was just before a rush of people. They did have whole wheat everything, which I tried, and it was fine. The bagel tasted a little more like bread with spices on the them. They were small and missing the softness of a bagel on the inside and the crunch of the bagel on the outside. But otherwise the everything spices were pretty on point. The egg in their breakfast sandwiches was pretty good, and they were pretty generous with their bacon, almost too generous. We ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel, and egg and cheese on whole wheat everything, and a garlic bagel with cream cheese -- at a little over $26, it was on the pricier side. I am a bagel snob and having eaten many New York bagels while I used to visit there regularly on business, I am kinda spoiled when it comes to bagels. Being a Burlingame resident for over 20 years, I am surprised I had never been here until two days ago. I used to frequent Noah's bagels in San Mateo, now my former go-to place for bagels. The bagels at Bay Area Bagels are better than Noah's with toppings on both sides. My favorite bagels are everything ( they call it all in one here) and garlic. Both are excellent. Every 6-months or so, I'll be in Burlingame getting my Subaru serviced at Putnum. Why am I down here when I live in Pleasant Hill? It's a long story, but let's just say I'm willing to travel the extra mile for a good price and service when the local option is not quite up to the task. Between dropping off the car and picking it up, I have a couple hours to kill. What I do is walk up and down (and sideways) the main shopping street, and end up at Bay Area Bagels for a few boiled (not steamed) selections (with a container of low-fat smear) to take home. Unfortunately, my part of the East Bay doesn't have a bagel shop (or Cheeseboard), so one must take advantage when the opportunity presents. The shop is relatively small and busy when I've been in on a Friday or Saturday morning. Service can be a little uneven, but it's a friendly place worthy of hanging around a bit. The bagels themselves are good, but not special enough to make a special trip. But as they say: Location - Location - Location. I had to throw away the white fish one. It wasn't worth saving any part of. As for the lox, I only took out the lox and tossed everything else. Whyyyy?? I was impressed!!! My boss picked up a huge pink box of these carb loaded guys and brought them to work. I popped them in the toaster and cranked up the heat, because I like it extra toasted. Then, I slathered that baby with some whipped cream cheese and there you have it, a high caloric dense meal. Honestly, treat yo' self. They bagels are very good and I used to love going here in the mornings. Lately however, the Latin lady at front counter just radiates anger. She is so unpleasant and sour. Originally I chalked it up to her having a bad day but each time I've come in she is just awful and it's obvious she hates being there and dealing with the public. I'm not sure if she is the owner or manager but even while I'm waiting I notice she is particular rude to Asian customers. Again, the bagels are great but I won't be going back anymore because of her attitude which is a same as I was a regular.
