Best bagels I've had in a long while. Decent prices, although it's shocking how much the price skyrockets as soon as you add toppings that really shouldn't be that expensive. I get the Sicilian on whole wheat sesame. I like this one the most; it's vegan and they add lemon salt to give it that extra extravagance. read more

Really good bagels, very unique cooking style. Unfortunately this place is really small - just a hole in the wall joint with a line out the door (not saying much, the register is close to the door). There's seating outdoors. I would recommend trying ANYTHING on their menu: I've never been disappointed with any of their selection. They do put a lot of cream cheese on their bagels though, so if you like only a minimum I'd recommend grabbing a knife. read more

I've been trying other four and five star bagel places in hopes of finding one like this and I just need to quit now. Mmmm. I love getting the super deluxe swiss melt here. And everything else on the menu is pretty good too. During halloween it was still open in the whee hours of the night, and I was glad that I could try something else besides Freebirds at 2am in the morning. Visiting Santa Barbara and haven't been to BC in three years. I Usually love bagel cafe and the food would be a 5/5 but this review gets 2/5 because the service was poor. Understandably, it was 7 in the morning and I did have an order of 4 bagels for my party, but simple questions usually illicit simple answers, if not with respect but at least with kindness. I came back to this place today, September first, and it was amazing to start my month with an amazing service by Pierce and Jacobo! Both of then were amazing and I felt really welcome and nicely treated. Today I had this new bagel, again, suggested by Pierce, and he said to try cheese and basil, and I did. I requested Avocado, Chipotle cream cheese, which was so so delicious, I also added tomato with lemon pepper! This was so so good, I was satisfied and I wanted to update everyone. Let me start by saying that I am Jewish, and that my family comes from New York. New York jews know a good bagel from a bad one. Trust me, this is a good one. You will almost surely get full off of one of their bigger sandwiches, and I would say that all of their bagels/sandwiches are reasonably priced. I recognize how full one gets for their dollar, because this is what most of us in IV are most concerned with. But more than how filling/cheap it is, their toppings and their bagels are actually quite delicious. They have great lemon pepper, and a variety of great cream cheeses, veggies, and meats. My favorite is the Bird, which I could probably eat for every meal of the day. I've also had The Hampton, which was great, as well as a bunch of vegetarian sandwiches which were also incredibly satisfying. The only real downside is that they are the only breakfast place in IV, so saturday/sunday mornings (which is when you really want a bagel) have pretty long lines. Is this a bad thing though? The fact that every hungover kid in IV desperately craves Bagel Cafe? Obviously not. read more

Yesterday morning I took my friend, who's visiting from, to get a bagel here. I was excited to take her here, since it was my favorite bagel shop. After we ordered, my friend got her bagel within 5 minutes. We waited for about 15 minutes until I went up to check on mine. One of the girls working ran to the back and realized that mine was burnt and forgotten about. They came up to tell me and offered me a coffee, but I had already had one in hand. I love Bagel Cafe! My boyfriend used to go to UCSB and lived in Isla Vista. Lucky for me! I love their delicious bagel creations! Whenever I get a chance to be in Santa Barbara, I always beg to make a breakfast stop here. All I've ever ordered is the Super Deluxe, which is probably a shame, but it's too yummy to pass up. The lemon pepper really adds a great taste to the sun-dried tomato cream cheese. Definitely stop here if you get a chance. read more

Went here for the first time and found not one strand of hair but a CLUMP of hair in my bagel. It was in the egg, and that totally ruined my first experience here. Very unsanitary sometimes, but I went back and just got cream cheese and it was fine. NEVER get an egg in your bagel please! read more

My goal is to try all the bagels and so far I've slowly managed to try 7 different types of bagel combinations they have. My favorite has to be the simple and ever so classic "the regular." Herb Cheese bagel, lemon pepper, tomato and cream cheese. Super simple yet what i have every morning after a crazy night in Isla Vista. Whenever you need to get rid of that hangover from that rough night before, get your fill of carbs from this wonderful place. They have so many bagels, ranging from a pesto bagel to a cheddar jalapeno bagel. My favorite is the galaxy bagel, or the everything bagel. The bagels are always very fresh/made the day of. They have various cream cheeses to put on, both sweet and savory spreads! They also have multiple bagel concoctions for you to order from on their wall. I love the Slammin' Lox bagel and their bagel melts are also very delicious. Whether this place is underrated or overrated, Bagel Cafe is AWESOME. OMFG!! DELICIOUS!! Eating at Bagel Cafe is the BEST FIRST choice you could possibly make in the morning!! The cafe is pretty small, but the food is definitely worth it! There is plenty of outdoor seating, so finding a table shouldn't be a problem. I ate here for the first time today, and even at 8am, this place is already forming a line. Don't worry though, the line moves very quickly, and the food is prepared swiftly. Aside from a wide variety of bagels and pastries, Bagel Cafe also has several options in hot breakfasts. I ate the "5-0" SANDWICH and I pretty much devoured it. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the bacon and peppers balanced the flavor perfectly. In short, Bagel Cafe is breakfast HEAVEN!! Bagel Cafe has the best bagels I've ever had on the west coast. They are INSANELY good, and this is coming from a Jewish bagel snob. Their sandwiches are delicious too, but I've noticed that the lox is a little skimpy. I go there every other week for a dozen bagels and even though I try lots of different kinds each week, I've never been disappointed.
