Solving in July was a great get away from the LA heatwave. Being there became an opportunity to scope out the coffee. Ok, I tried several places and those won't get reviewed, but hands down for Cafe Joy . Located in a central commune of other charming businesses, Cafe Joy greets guests with their good vibes, an adjacent gallery highlighting artists, and a friendly staff. The coffee verdict -- the Mocha is fantastic; well balanced chocolate, beans and froth. Also tried the mushroom latte (feeling adventurous). Definitely a contrast and bolder flavor to the sweetness of the mocha, but nonetheless delicious and an energetic drink.

3/1/25 Trying newly opened cafe in Solvang (opened 2 mo ago). Because Good seed a few doors down is already closed. A good find, eclectic music playing , cute shop next door, organic ingredients, fair prices. Great place to grab a bite & (pastries, locally sourced) coffee is pretty good. About 5 small tables/chairs, bench indoors. There's a really adorable outdoor patio that is communal- nice to just sit n relax whilst enjoying your treats & beverages. I ordered something different-lavender matcha latte, Hubby's usual oat milk latte, both hot. Barista is efficient. My drink arrived shortly in a thick glass container, different but nice. It was pleasantly tasty, I wish it was hotter but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Hubby's latte was "meh" as stated. Park it nearby or street parking, free.

The cafe was beautiful and comfy. The cafe made you feel at home. It's a wonderful cozy cafe to relax and enjoy their coffee drinks and bagels/ sweets. My group was a party of four. My mom enjoyed her vanilla latte, her boyfriend had an espresso, my daughter enjoyed her bagel and I loved my delicious matcha. We were enjoying our drinks/ bagel while we did our drawings. Thank you so much ! We had a wonderful experience at your cafe and great service. I can't wait to come back and visit.

Great vibe, cool local items, delicious matcha! We didn't wait long at all. The owner mad dispirited drinks and was very kind. We liked that it was tucked away from the crowds.

Stopped into Café Joy and really enjoyed it! The coffee is delicious--smooth, rich, and exactly what you want when you're looking for a pick-me-up. Inside has a definite hippie vibe--laid-back, eclectic, and casual--which adds to the charm if that's your style. My favorite part, though, was the outdoor seating in the courtyard. It's a beautiful shared space with other small businesses around, which makes it feel like a hidden little community spot. Perfect for sipping your drink and hanging out. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

The sitting room, with a late November display - antique Indian blankets and pillows for sale.

Cafe Joy has the smoothest vanilla lattes in the valley and a sweet homey vibe that changes with the art being displayed. The owner, Georgina, is a welcoming hostess with a calming energy. A great hang!

Literally the worst latte I've ever had and was almost $10. Worst than anything I've ever made myself at home times 10.

Maybe it was raining... because it was definitely pouring disappointment…read more I really wanted to love this bakery, but after dropping $40 here, I left feeling incredibly let down. Maybe the bakers were just having an off day, but unfortunately, almost everything we ordered was a miss--and the service didn't help. When I was looking for assistance, the employees were entirely unhelpful and seemed like they couldn't care less. One of them was completely glued to their phone with their back turned toward the lobby, while the other was just standing there picking their fingernails. It felt like we were an inconvenience just by being there. As for the food, here is the breakdown: Cinnamon Roll Bowl ($10.00): For ten bucks, I expected something spectacular. Instead, it was completely underwhelming--mostly just dense dough and not nearly enough flavor or moisture. Snickerdoodle Cookie ($7.50): A massive disappointment for the price. It lacked that signature tangy, cinnamon-sugar punch. If you handed this to me blindly, I would never guess it was supposed to be a snickerdoodle. Savory Meat Pastry: This was the worst of the bunch. It was so incredibly dry that we took exactly one bite and had to throw the rest in the trash. Ham & Cheese Croissant: This tasted bizarrely off. Instead of a savory ham flavor, it tasted like it was stuffed with old, stale turkey. Æbleskiver Balls: These are supposed to be light and fluffy, but they were completely dried out and tough. Paying premium prices for bakery items is fine if the quality matches, but between the awful service and food that tasted like it had been sitting out for days, I won't be back. Lesson learned always check the yelp reviews before trying something new.

In my case, the male employee was very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. Once my family and I had our donuts and beverages (which were well prepared), we sat at several tables inside the shop in very comfortable chairs to enjoy our donuts. The donuts were warm, soft, flavorful, and filling. This was a positive experience.

Then, leaving town the next morning, I swung by for the treats to bring home. The place itself is light and open, and well decorated with display cases to the front and the order counter off to one side. I ordered all-new flavors for myself, including lavender honey, pistachio raspberry, strawberry rosé, blueberry lemon, maple bacon, and s'mores. At home, we had a tasting fest, and strangely, much to my chagrin, the s'mores were the LEAST favored! They were described as dry and not tasting "s'morey," and the kids didn't like the "burned marshmallows." So, the s'mores, of which I bought four, sat relatively uneaten save for some nibbles on the edges here and there. The next least favorite was the maple bacon, which also went uneaten. Now, at over $4 for a special donut ($4.02), that caught my attention, but we live and learn. The other flavors were delicious and quite different! They were actually quite fresh and soft compared to the s'mores. We took our time, and even after about two or three days, they were still good. I think that my faves were the blueberry lemon, the pistachio, and the strawberry rosé. The lavender honey was also quite good, too, now that I think about it, so I guess my favorites were all the ones other than the s'mores and maple bacon. In any case, always good to try new things, and with the special flavors here, you will have a chance to do that.
