I've been a loyal bagel time customer for about 2 years now since we moved in the area. Things you should know...they are closed on Mondays, weekends are obviously their busiest days, you can order ahead, lots of coca cola paraphernalia, and during the summer it gets ungodly hot in there. Aside from that, great bagels, great pork roll egg and cheese, great service. They also make decent sandwiches too and they have a DIY milk shake machine on premise. My staple is the chicken salad on the rustic bread with cheddar cheese, tomatoes and jalapeños and it has been great everytime I get it. The only complaint(s) is it can be alittle pricey and the customer order and wait area is way to small. The old coke decor is nice but the owner can definitely lose some of the fridges for drinks. Best bagels in central NJ. I grew up in Manhattan and I'm used to very good bagels. Thankfully Bagel Time opened up a number of years ago and offered the freshest bagels around. On top of that, they are the friendliest people no matter how busy they get. Hardworking owners and employees are a rarity today. read more

Delicious bagels, good service. There are many choices in the Matawan/Old Bridge area for bagels, and this is one of my new favorites. Be wary of the parking lot- it's easier to park next door at the mini mall and just walk to the shop. Small but homey interior. read more

Best bagel/breakfast sandwich spot around. Bagels taste better tan Eli's and are bigger. Right amount of cream cheese and if you go with a sandwich, you can't go wrong. Only drawback is that there can be a wait sometimes but they get you in and out pretty quick. Call ahead is the way to go if you have a big order. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The food is great and I don't mind paying a little more for such good quality. The bagels are awesome. All of the employees are very nice, especially the delivery guy who deserves a medal for all the hard work he does. The owner just does not understand good customer service. I work at a local business nearby and we order 2-3 times a week from there but you should never argue with your customers. Today was the last time I will ever order from there. I decided to try one of their salads and so I ordered the ONLY "grilled chicken salad" on the menu. This salad says it comes with chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers and dressing on side, nothing else. The order arrived while I was out running errands for work and when I got back I noticed I had been given some kind of garden salad with lots of ingredients that I do not like in it. I called and the guy says it was my fault because he has many salads with grilled chicken in the computer. He asked me under what section in the menu I saw the salad (there's only one salad section) and I showed him that it is the only grilled chicken salad on the menu. I asked him where the salad I was given was on the menu and he said it was in his computer. I CAN'T. You run the place and you don't know what's on the menu? Why is the computer different? And if you have so many in the computer, why not ask which one instead of guessing... Also, I had asked for banana peppers to be added to my salad as well. I was told if they have them I would be charged an extra dollar, if they were out I would not. Sure enough the salad came without and I still was charged the extra dollar. He finally said he would send someone over and would take care of the extra charge and about 5 min. later the delivery guy comes back, apologizing profusely (he knows good customer service, he's AWESOME) except instead of a new salad I got a small container of mozzarella and peppers. So my $10 salad full of half ingredients I don't like I have to pick the stuff out myself and be left with a tiny bit of lettuce? I threw it out. By that time the lettuce was all soggy from hot chicken and wet veggies sitting on top. Gross. I still did not get anything back, not even my dollar I got charged for nonexistent banana peppers. I wish I could say this was the first time we've argued with him but my coworker sometimes is the only one who orders and even though we are about a block away and say we can wait till the delivery guy is coming this way since we can't always leave the office, he constantly gives us a hard time about the delivery minimum. Ironically he has said a few different minimums so I'm not sure what it actually is even. Maybe it depends on how much he likes you? This place would be absolutely perfect if the owner or manager or whoever he is would just make an effort to work on his people skills. I'm so glad I paid $10 and now have to work the rest of my 11 hour shift on an empty stomach. read more

TERRIBLE! The food itself is satisfactory. However, the service stinks and the prices are ridiculously high!! I've tried this place a few times because it is close to my house and each time I am disappointed. My most recent experience: I ordered two pieces of toast (not bagels) with light flavored creamcheese on both sides open face. $7 for this!!! TOAST! I will stick to taking a little further drive to the bagel shop down the street. read more

Haven't been here in a long time. Stopped on my way to work last week and found not too much has changed: good bagel, standard fair, but the prices were way higher than I expected. Two egg sandwiches, a bagel w cream cheese and a drink was over $20. I guess location is everything. read more

Let me give you folks the inside scoop about Bagel Time Deli. I know the owner because we service the store with premium deli meats. This guy bends over backwards to ensure cleanliness and quality products get to his customers. When we come into the store after they clean it, I swear the grill looks like they just carted it in brand new, We service 60+ stores and none of them look like that. He pays extra money for better quality stuff for his customers. If you want to compare him to DA subs, then you really shouldn't eat here because you pay for quality. I dont think there is a bagel place around who pays extra for applewood smoked bacon, so his customers can eat a much better quality breakfast sandwich. Here you get great bagels, coffee and excellent quality meat products. If you want slimy, inexpensive, restaurant depot branded deli meat, then head on over to DA subs to save 2 dollars. The place is constantly busy, which could be frustrating at times, but there is a reason the line is out the door from open to close. I drive 25 minutes from freehold to matawan to buy bagels and sandwiches here. Sometimes I will stock up on Wednesday for the half price dozen bagel days. 7 dollars for a dozen of some of the best bagels around. Can't beat it! Love the store and the food. I have going to Bagel time since it opened over 10 years ago. My whole family goes to Bagel Time all the time. The Bagels and breakfast sandwiches are always fresh and very tasty. Recently, we had an experience that I want to share with you. We put it in our order over the phone so it can be ready for pick-up. When my husband got home, we were realized we were given the wrong order. We called to let them know and the next thing we know they came to our door and delivered the correct order with an extra 1/2 dozen bagels to do right by us. We were happy satisfied customers. An hour later, the door bell rings and it is Bagel Time again. They realized that our order was $10 less than the order we had received and came back to our front door to refund the $10 overcharge. they have good bagels, as would be expected at a bagel place...really though, ive been turned off by this place due to their price increases...the place is usually mobbed with fat people addicted to those hefty carbs via the bagel...they should try waiting on line for a gym membership(have to joke about it because people its a bagel, relax)...lol...their bagels r on point, subs and stuff are average (sub rolls 2 hard)...u will have a good eat or lunch here, the food quality is there..just dealing with the crazed herds of people and parking is enough to make you not frequent bageltime...OVER PRICED..considering the business they get, make the prices a lil bit more fair... read more
