First time checking it out as I live closer to Bergen Bagels. Went in after the Saturday morning rush and ordered an egg white wrap special. "Glacial" is the word that best describes the speed of the service. When I finally got the wrap and ate it at the nearby park, I discovered part of the wrap was missing. Womp womp. Decent place to get a tasty bagel or a nice bialy. Pretty good selection of cream cheeses and vegetarian options too, plus a tasty coffee cake. At a recent visit I tired their three lentil chili soup, which was just meh: bland and very salty at the same time; a bit too soupy, and I couldn't even tell for sure if it had meat in it or not. A sesame seed bagel with scallion cream cheese plus small soup came to $6. I also tried a bagel with lox spread ($3.25) and it is really delicious! Excellent byalis as well, and just $0.90 each. One of my best friends lives directly across the street so we are here all the time. It initially started with the sugar cookies and rainbow sprinkles. I have no idea why I am addicted to this cookie. When I go and visit my friend I also like to stop in for a coffee and breakfast sandwich. The staff is nice, haven't had any issues. Well maybe one, my only issue is they never pay attention to the order in which people come in. So you should pay attention yourself or you may be skipped. Bagel World is a great neighborhood bagel spot and deli and the best Fort Greene has to offer, for sure! Smoothies are excellent and my favorite is The Green Man - basically makes you feel like you are a health star but tastes delicious. For breakfast I get either a classic egg & cheese on an everything bagel or one of their breakfast wraps. If you are going in for lunch or later in the afternoon, note the freshest bagels are going to be in the AM so check out their other food options. I've tried their paninis, hero sandwiches, and wraps and loved them all! Really good options for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike! On weekends I go 4 blocks and two bagel places out of the way to get a whole wheat everything bagel with the best whitefish I've had at a bagel place in my Brooklyn and a Greene Man smoothie. Coffee is shit...but in a watery yet delightful bagel place sort of way. ) And if you don't feel like leaving the house, delivery is consistently quick. Stopped in here while on vacation. Stayed in an apartment around the corner and needed late breakfast for me and early lunch for my husband prior to heading over to Manhattan. The line was long at 11:30am so we checked out all the yummy looking stuff in the cold case and decided what to order. Hubby ordered some sort of ham/peppers/ mozzarella sandwich that he said was delicious and I ordered a bagel and cream cheese. Total for the two sandwiches and a bottle of soda was $12. Not super cheap but both were delicious and hubby actually got two meals out of his huge sandwich. Tried to stop in later that night for another quick, cheap bite but experienced some oddity with the hours. We thought they were open until 10pm but when we walked in around 7:45 everything was covered up and they were mopping the floor. Would definitely come here again but I think it would benefit them to label things so people don't have to ask what things are. They had tons of cream cheese spreads in the cold case but none were labeled so I didn't know what they were. When it was my turn in line I had to ask what kinds of bagels they have and could barely understand the guy so I just asked for what looked like an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and thankfully they had that. I was sitting across the street at a pretty pretentious, overpriced bar, and the mediocre food and my waiter's distasteful facial expressions made me hungry enough to cross the street. I was SO surprised at how delicious these bagels were, despite being end of the day. Super plump, chewy dough. I got half bacon & herb and half scallion cream cheese. Do not go here during covid! They allow as many people in as possible so literally it's shoulder to shoulder. People were not wearing masks and the employees did not enforce any covid safety measures at all. Would give this a zero if possible. Great place, great options and great prices. I originally came by here for some coffee but discovered this gem. There is a couple of tables for dining in and benches for outdoor seating. The colorful menu all around the store offers many many options. hot breakfast, fruits, salads, coffee, cupcakes, cookies, fresh juices, panini, sandwiches, many homemade products, etc. Even their bagel options are crazy. How will I ever decide what to get? The service is prompt and fast, great place to stop by anytime of the day for a bite. I order breakfast from them every morning. Most of the time it's perfect no complaints. Comes in an ok amount of time. Food is good. Today the delivery guy comes doesnt call me when he gets here instead he goes back to the store and calls me and tells me he didn't know where to go. Although I order to the Same place every day. Bergen Bagels remains my favorite bagel in all of NYC, but I didn't think Bagel World was all that bad, I actually thought it was alright. It's pretty much standard NYC bagel fare, so you know what you're getting into. Wandered in on a Saturday afternoon, and they were pretty well stocked. Nothing I hate more than a bagel joint that makes every flavor imaginable at 6am, and runs out by noon without re-stocking. I ordered a "plain bagel with a lot of cream cheese", "pumpernickel bagel with a lot of butter", "everything bagel with cream cheese", and "onion bagel with butter". (...I see you judging me and my eating prowess...) The plain bagel was slightly crunchy on the outside, warm and mushy on the inside. Deliciously flavored cream cheese (which they give you copious amounts of). 4/5. Sadly, it's the only bagel here worth purchasing. When I ordered the pumpernickel bagel, I asked for a lot of butter. Got home and opened the wrapped bagel up to find a ridiculously small amount of butter. Had to trek all the way back to the store to have them put more on. They seemed nice, and apologized, but it was certainly an inconvenience. The pumpernickel bagel itself tasted horrible. It was denser and harder than the other bagel, which I understand, due to the nature of pumpernickel, however it had an awful plastic/chemical aftertastes, which, even a 1/2 inch of butter couldn't cover up. The everything bagel was *incredibly* salty, almost to the point of being inedible. If they laid off some salt, it wouldn't be bad at all, but alas, that wasn't the case. The onion bagel was mostly air. It flattened out to about half an inch tall after taking a bite of it. Had more of a consistency of a roll than a bagel, and it's onion topping just tasted off. The people that worked here seemed nice enough, and their Dept of Health Inspection shows that they're really clean, which I appreciate. I don't know if I'd go back for other bagel flavors, being that 3 of the 4 I tried weren't that good. But if you are looking for a solid plain bagel in the area, I would recommend. I much prefer La Bagel Delight on Lafayette for a solid array of bagels in the area. read more

I have been a die-hard bagel nut my entire life. Not originally from NYC but the rest of my family is and I was groomed from an early age to appreciate bagels and pizza. Not that I am an expert, I am not. Anyway, everyone has their preference. I think Bergen Bagel is awful. Caky, dry, and bland. You can taste refrigeration. Bagel World was my go-to twice a week for bagel sandwiches and 7 days a week for coffee. I will not discuss the coffee because I like mine Dunkin' Donuts-like: sweet and light. During the year I lived in Fort Greene, I never had an order messed up. The line, while long, moves at a surprisingly brisk pace. The staff is friendly, fast, and efficient. I am amazed, and was always amazed, at how consistent their product is/was. The bagels are doughy and gooey. I must admit, I do not really care for cream cheese. So I cannot speak to their classic NYC bagel with cream cheese. Their egg sandwiches are amazing. Amazing. Their home fries are beat though. Nope on those. read more
