The bagels were too hard for my liking. Not the good fluffy New York kind. Stick to the egg sandwiches over the cream cheeses. The cream cheese tasted a bit off (had scallion), almost like it wasn't made with real cream cheese. Would not recommend. Solid bacon, egg, & cheese, with a good amount of bacon, but nothing special. This place is wunderbar! I go and get bagel here almost every morning. The service is excellent and quick. The Bagels are usually quite fresh, toasted appropriately, and not drowned in Cream Cheese as per NYC norms. The gentlemen that work this shop work open regularly hot-or-cold, snow-or-shine, and the bagels are always fully stocked. There is a patio in the back, but its better to use fort greene park. The regular staff is back and this place is back to its old self! Not sure what happened here, but this place is on my block, and I used to go all the time. Recently however the entire staff quit and since then things have become comically bad. I ordered salami and egg and the kid working just picked up a tube of meat and said "is this salami"? Every time I've been in since the staff quit it's taken 20 minutes to get my bagel, and they always give me the wrong kind. Steer clear. The owner is nice but slower than slow. read more

I want to give this place a higher rating for having some of the best bagels relative to what's in the immediate neighborhood, but the things they do to accomplish fast service really detract from the quality of their product. First, they have their toaster set way too fast so that the bagels don't actually get toasted -- you need to ask for double toasting to get any textural change. Second, the cream cheese often ends up a runny goopy mess when put on the warmed bagels, either because they wrap the warmed bagels in foil instead of just paper or that they keep the cream cheese too warm to begin with. Third, though admittedly this only happened once, they didn't take the time to ask how I liked my coffee (black) and put in cream and sugar -- I didn't realize until I got home and had to throw it out. This place does have good bagels and I'm a fairly regular customer, but I'd probably come here twice as often if the things above were changed. read more

The bagel my mom and I got were pretty tasty. We got everything whole wheat with scallion cream cheese. Yum!! However, the default for bagel & cream cheese should be toasted. It's really disappointing to have an untoasted bagel when you're so hungry in the morning. read more

I was looking for another go-to bagel spot in the neighborhood after being disappointed too many times by another spot where the bagels aren't as good, the cream cheese is often sour (and I wouldn't find out until I was home. DIS-A-POINT-ING!), and the people aren't friendly. I stuck it out with them for almost 5 yrs (I like to give local businesses a chance... maybe too many chances). Anyway, after finding Bagel World, I wish I'd made the switch sooner! The bagels are always big and fluffy, cream cheese is tasty, fresh & generous, coffee is yummy, and the breakfast sandwiches are great. And the most important part to me - The people working there are friendly and kind, especially one woman who often mans the register. I've only ever seen her eyes (COVID), but I can tell she's smiling behind her mask. And when a local shop is part of your morning routine, starting the day with kindness matters A LOT. read more

Bagel World is one of the go-to places for my coworkers and I as its only a block away. The staff is friendly and hard working. During the week, service is generally quick and you can get in and out easily. The weekend, however, is another story. Expect a long line and slow service. Some customers can try to cut the line (it's not the most organized system) so pay attention to make sure you don't miss your turn. In terms of the bagels, they're very fresh...I like the blueberry and the crazy rainbow vanilla ones they have sometimes. This may sound strange but I also like how they cut the bagels here (into four pieces, makes it so much easier to eat on the go!). The breakfast sandwiches are good and made fresh with eggs, cheese, and meats. They also have a selection of pastries (muffins, Danishes, croissants, cookies, cupcakes) which are tasty too. Black and white cookie is my favorite pick me up snack, or the little bags of fresh chocolate chip cookies they have near the register. Feel free to ask for your muffin to be toasted if that's up your alley...make it so much better! I've also had various lunch sandwiches here and found the portions to be enormous (expect a solid inch of meat) and they're willing to customize it however you like, while also having a set menu of different sandwich combinations. They have a few coolers with different drink choices (soda juice smoothies gatorades, anything you can think of really). In the winter they offer soups (from Hale and Hearty I believe) and offer a special for under $5 where you can get a big serving a soup and a bagel...best deal around! They have a few tables inside and out back but no restroom. We've eaten in the back and had the place to ourself which was nice! Great place for a quick bite anytime of day. They accept credit cards too with no minimum. Best place to grab a picnic lunch or dinner for Fort Greene park without breaking the bank. read more

Very dirty! Unsanitary way of handling food. Each bagel slides over the dirty counter without any paper beneath it and makes it way over to the cook whos handling eggs, raw bacon and your bagel with his bare hands. Gross!! read more

i don't know what to say other than i was looking for the best bagel around while around that neighborhood where a few picks were either closed or too far and this was the closest open with a lot of positive reviews on google but, he bagels were a little dry and light, ie, not dense or chewy or worth the money thrown out the window. i don't get how you can be a singularly declared bagel world when your One Thing is terrible? it's easy to find better bagels at less obvious bagel storefronts, like Baker's dozen in queens. i mean, why get dry stale bagels in brooklyn when you can get fresh in your neighborhood. read more

Very underwhelming and flavorless bagels, nevermind the quality of the deli meat. My impression is that a lot of the food they use is past its prime..... just take a look inside the case. Solid bagel shop. If you're looking for some kind of gourmet breakfast sandwich, go somewhere else. This is your standard NYC bagel shop, with the difference being that the service is awesome and there's a great little spot to sit in the back. Bagels are not homemade, but they are decent. Coffee is not gourmet, but also decent for deli coffee. I love getting sandwiches on their bialies. And since they don't allow dogs inside and I don't like tying up my dog outside, they're cool with just taking my order from the entry way. It's a nice touch. read more

What happened to Bagel World? Been in this neighborhood for almost three years and it used to be my go to. Last six months-- not so much. The last four or five times they have messed up my bagel or sandwich. In addition the prices seem to be rising with the poor service, which is definitely not okay. This place is a great quick and tasty breakfast spot. All the bagels(including psychedelic rainbow colored ones) with the classic toppings, plus gourmet donuts and pastries. The coffee is good, as are the smoothies. My fav is the everything bagel with lox cream cheese and a large coffee-cream-and-sugar. read more

People were really talking this place up when I moved to fort Greene last week. But I thought it was just average. I got egg and cheese on whole wheat everything. It was more grainy than I'm accustomed to which is David's bagel on 1st avenue. Also the coffee was way over sweetened I couldn't drink it. Finally the guy at the cashier was pretty nice. We go here every morning before work. The staff always knows exactly what we want. The service and food is always reliable.

I have really tried to like this place, but it is hard because they mess up my order almost every time I go. I'm not ordering difficult things. A couple weeks ago I ordered a toasted whole wheat everything bagel with cream cheese. I got a regular everything bagel. I brought it back. Then they "fixed" my order but when I opened it up, it was a plain whole wheat bagel. Really? Today, I ordered a turkey, egg and cheese on a bagel. I even checked it before I left to make sure it was the right bagel. When I got home, I realized it was missing the cheese. These are two examples of what happens to me all the time. I think the food is pretty good, but learn your lesson and always check your order before leaving the shop because odds are, it will be wrong. read more

It's a very typical New York bagel joint. Decent bagels, decent coffee, good breakfast sandwiches and every other food item swings from terrible to good. Prices are a little on the pricey side. Service is fast and accurate even when it's busy. Long lines move pretty fast, I've never been in there for more than 15 minutes. There is a nice sitting area in the back too. read more

Although the food is good here the price is ridiculous and so are the workers! I go to bagel world once in a while for breakfast or just to get a drink and I love reading the sign that says "If we don't give you your receipt then we will give you a 5$ gift certificate". For years I've joked about it happening one day and when it did not only did the guy blow me off but he also threw the receipt at me then as I walked out told me to be a man about it, the irony I know. All this happened while the other workers just laughed as they knew their coworker was wrong yet did nothing to set things right. I'll be damned if I ever buy something their if that's how they are gonna treat customers and I advise you 2 use your money else where it will give you more for your money and most importantly, use it in a place where you will be shown respect and gratitude. read more
