Blueberry bagel
Jennifer D.

Just moved to Edgewater and trying to find my new bagel place. This was in walking distance of my new apartment. They have a good amount of bagel flavors and spreads. The lox spread looked rather disappointing though, so didn't try it. Ended up ordering a blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese. It was a step up from a grocery store bagel, but it left a lot to be desired. Would go back to try some of their breakfast sandwiches, but they appear to be on the pricier side...even more than what I would pay in NYC

Chocolate Chip Pancakes. They threw some chocolate chips on top and let them partially melt

We used to order here pretty often. Haven't ordered in about 6 months and it looks like the management or the kitchen staff changed. Everything was assembled messy, bagels were falling apart and the chocolate chip pancakes were just inedible. The dough was sour and falling apart and the chocolate chips were thrown on top. We had to throw the whole thing out. Need to find a new breakfast spot now.

The best NY style bagel.. seriously don't miss nyc bagels any more. it's freshly made.. tastes phenomenal. I absolutely love the everything bagel and onion bagel.. it's freshly made everyday..I have been a loyal costumer for last 4 years .. the owner lady is the most honest and hardworking. Service is excellent and fast. It's a small business well kept with decent seating. Ambience is just ppl who come and get their orders and hot cup of freshly brewed coffee. My husband loves everything flavor with egg and cheese .. avocado toast is the besttt and they have very healthy lunch options too

Absolutely delicious bagels! Great place for a quick bite, breakfast or brunch. I'd recommend it.

The store canceled my order

You order online or from an app and then about 20 to 30 mins later they cancel your order. Unprofessional business. Wouldn't recommend them at all anymore. They changed owners and went down hill with everything

First time coming here. Was in the mood for a breakfast sandwich. Ordered 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, avocado, cheese with salt pepper ketchup. Let's start by everything was dry. But the thing that bothered me was they charged me for 2 sandwich at firsts. They made another one with 1 egg sausage cheese on roll. It's understandable, msybe the chef read the order wrong. So I left with my order. When I started to eat I realize that there was no avocado and no ketchup. I mean how many times can you screw up one egg sandwich when that's what you sell as a business. I lost money for the avocado which was $1.50 extra.

A very very close second to the popular bagel shops in Manhattan (absolute and zuckers come to mind) or Bernardsville New Jerseys bagel bin

I didn't know that bagel was supposed to feel like chewing on leather. You may want to call it beef jerky to go.

Staff are efficient though They were out of some things which disappointed because the gf person in our party also can't have seeds, and was hoping for something other than a plain bagel. I came here excited to have another flavor only to discover they carry only those three flavors. When I asked the cashier about the bagel of the day she said there wasn't one. After we ordered I then realized that they had both salt bagels and blueberry bagels. Why did she not tell us that? We also tried to order a cheese bun because we saw them on trays having just been removed from the oven. However the staff member told us they were out of cheese buns. The sandwich was great. The tomato jam was generously applied and they weren't stingy with the avocado. The challah and babka were both really nice! The challah is on the sweet side. I bet both would be even better microwaved. They have a bit of a gluten free vibe to the texture still, but are overall great compared to store bought. Our lattes came out quickly. No utensils, and they don't give napkins with your order. Bathroom is not very accessible. High sink, no hooks or grab bars. No seating for breakfast or lunch. It was extremely busy on a Sunday at lunchtime.

It has only one store, which is found on Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side of New York City, - and it has changed very little over the past 120+ years. Most famous for its Smoked Fish, especially its Smoked Sturgeon, Barney Greengrass has an extensive menu along this line, offering mostly cured fish items, either in sliced form, or as smoked fish salads. However there is a small list of meat sandwiches that are offered as well, making Barney Greengrass yet another great Jewish Deli in NYC that is NOT Kosher. During my numerous visit between 1976 and 1999, the service at Barney Greengrass has always been friendly and informative. It made me feel like I was a regular here, even during my fist visit. I always make sure to get one the platters, which can be any combination of three smoked fish items. Usually select the Sturgeon, the Nova, and the White Fish, which comes two Bagels. I found it good to get a large of their amazing Borscht as well, as a refreshing pallet cleanser. And just to mix things up a bit, I once slit a Pastrami Sandwich, whish was on the small side for an NYC Deli, but was delicious that it was well worth price. Other items of is their Pickled Herring Salad, their White Fish Salad, and especially their Latkes (potato pancakes). I love fish, thus Barney Greengrass has become one of my favorite Delis in America. Yum!

I got the class bagel with lox and spent almost $40. if that is what it takes to keep historic institutions around, I'll do it, just not as often as I'd like to

They also have a restroom for customers and a self serve tap water station with glasses, which I appreciated. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. We figured while we were grabbing the gift card we just had to try a cookie too. When we arrived, there's a couple steps you go down to get into the store. We went in about 10am on a Saturday, and there was about two people ahead of us. We were helped within minutes, and I ordered the Two Chip Chocolate Chip Cookie, while my partner got the Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie. I believe each cookie ran a little more than $5/cookie. We threw the cookies in my backpack, got lost going to Trader Joes, and then went back to the hotel (a 40 minute journey) and to our surprise - the cookies were still warm even though it was raining outside! My partner and I demolished those cookies within seconds. They were warm, slightly crispy on the edges, so many chocolate chips inside and chewy in the middle. If I could describe the perfect cookie this would be it. I imagine this would be delightful with a cold glass of milk. I also noticed several people at JFK with Levain bags, so I'm guessing it's common to stock up and bring home. She just started eating raw onions several years ago and still doesn't like cooked onions. Even she was able to find something at Jacob's Pickles and it delicious. With regards to the rest of what we ordered, we ordered the Hog In A Blanket as our appetizer and both my daughter and sister ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad. I ordered the Turkey Leg braised in white wine and served with whipped potatoes, Rosemary Biscuit Stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and gravy. The Hogs in a Blanket were their version of Pigs In a Blanket. The major difference being that Jacob's Pickles are served in puff pastry and with their own house made pickles. Yummy! The salmon salad was served with baby greens, sliced oranges, red onion, cilantro and a light orange vinaigrette. Everything and I do mean everything was delicious. It was a gut-buster of a meal and everything was perfectly prepared. The salmon was expertly cooked and the turkey literally fell away from the bone and tendons of the turkey leg.
