I went back!!! I had horrible experience the first time. I don't know if i came in on a bad day last time but what a difference this time around!!! I ordered my carryout Tray at 5:39PM He told me 20 Minutes. So i arrived around 6:03 and sure enough it was ready. I was kindly greeted when i walked in... The Gentleman took good care of me making sure i waited little to no time at all i was in and out in less then 5min. Got home unwrapped everything looked amazing so we all had a plat OR TWO.. and sure enough it tasted better then it looked. I don't have favorites but if i did it would defiantly be the Guss very tasty; but everything was very good. The place was clean good atmosphere and just all around good vibes. 3.25 Stars Overall a very decent and comprehensive introduction to Iraqi cuisine - many of the dishes are adequate enough. Does it blow me away? Not really. The interiors are what can be expected but the service is definitely pretty friendly - these guys are not very accustomed to non-Arabic speakers coming in so there could easily be mix-ups which I could definitely see massive cluster-f*cks because of it. So just be extra judicious about what you are ordering and make sure you check and see if everything is there before you leave. The real reason my group wanted to check this place out is because (as I was told) the Iraqi version of the hamburger was to die for. I was very intrigued by this. When it came - there it was - very big with a very thick sesame bun (I would have liked to see the bread a little less dense) with a very aromatic beef patty - basically an Iraqi kabob shaped like a burger if you think about it. I thought that the beef patty should be a little thicker personally but everyone in the group really enjoyed it and I did too. Very unique take on one of my favorite things to eat ever - the hamburger. I have actually tried very close iterations of this burger that were a little better - one of such is the lamb burger at Busboys and Poets in DC as well as the Mediterranean Burger at Redrocks. We picked up quite a few of these Iraqi burgers for friends and family back home and they went nuts over them. I was very happy that they were happy. read more

I was going to give it 3 stars as it was OK but I just now looked at my receipt and noticed they charged us $1.50 for a can of soda that we never received. The place is kinda small, seems clean enough. We were the only 2 white people in the place and were stared at a bit when we first came in...no biggie but kinda interesting. The Chicken Shawarma sandwhich was generous in portion and taste pretty good. The bread is good but served cold. The garlic butter was pretty good. Service was pretty good. I guess I'm not bowled over because nothing tasted great and we were charged for an item that we did not receive. read more

HARD PASS! I used to love this restaurant. The food and service used to be awesome. Not anymore. During my last visit I ordered hummus and it was bland and lacked basic flavor. The service was terrible. Here's the scam. Hummus is not mentioned in the dine in menu and it's only mentioned on the take out menu. The price on the dine in menu is $4.99 (hummus and pita bread). We did the dine in and i was charged $8 for the hummus and $2 for the pita bread which was taken out of a store made bag. There are tons of middle eastern restaurants in the area and this place doesn't deserve your hard earned $. read more

It is with great sadness and a great sense of loss that I have to write this negative review. I have been going to this place for years without complaint because they have good food. That's is, until yesterday when I ordered a mixed combo meat tray for three people. After eating the food, my daughter and I experienced flu like symptoms, stomach ache, body aches, diarrhea, and vomiting. I suspect it was the rice and and or the chicken. After experiencing what I experienced, I have decided not to ever buy food from this restaurant again. You can serve your customers a million good meals but they will remember that one bad meal you served them. Word of advice, keep your restaurant clean and your food fresh. read more

Well this review is about the Baghdad on 17 & Ryan. Tried them for the first time I got a combo for 3 people. Other restaurants add more meat to this combo where really it would be enough for 4 people. Anyways the yellow rice was good. The shawarma both chicken and beef I wasn't t a fan off. The kabob needed to be cooked more. The broccoli soup was really delicious. The tabouli needed more lemon. The hummus didn't even taste like hummus. The eggplant salad was good. Might give this place a second chance. A lot of people did order a lot of their hamburgers and saj sandwiches so maybe that's what I'll do next. But everyone was so friendly and funny. read more
