This location is small - just a few tables and chairs in their dining area - but I've never had a problem dining there. It's bright and clean inside. My orders are ready in a matter of minutes. Their Montague sandwich (Roasted beef, turkey, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, Roma tomato & Earl's mustard sauce) is absolutely delicious. And I always get it with their tomato soup (also delicious). The bread is tender yet substantial. Ingredients are fresh and generously portioned.

This option has pretty much ruined Banh MI sandwiches at every other shop. Anyways, the first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean the place was while still being inviting. Some places end up feeling extremely sterile when they're on top of cleanliness, but this place struck an even balance. What may have also contributed to this is how friendly the staff comes off right when you walk in. I ordered a Jersey Shore's favorite sub at the behest of my boss with all the things (I could've gone off script, but I wanted to make sure my experience was exactly what he wanted me to get). I also got a giant size since I usually put down a footlong. Now that I'm on the other side of the whole experience, I wouldn't recommend eating the whole thing in one sitting. If you're with someone who has similar tastes as you, split it with them. I will be enough. They don't skimp on the freshly sliced meat, and the veggies, while there isn't as much variety as I'm used to, are very fresh. There's a "juice" you get when you order something Mike's way, which is an eponymous way of saying everything on it. I'm not 100% sure what makes up the juice, but it brought about a nice flavor, which was probably more prominent because I decided not to get any mayo or mustard. I think the place is decently priced considering how much they give, and I'm keen on trying their chicken Philly next time I come in. However, this experience on its own wasn't enough to really convince me that I should prioritize this place over other sandwich spots.

Had lunch at Baguettes last Thursday. I had been to the old location a few times and always loved it. This experience was a bit different. It was fairly busy when we got there. There was only one cashier and the line moved extremely slow. We ordered our sandwiches got cups for water and went to sit outside. Pros: The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Very nicely done and lots of room. It's also locally owned which is a plus in my book. Cons: The seating outside is dirty, like no one ever cleans the tables. I think this patio is shared with the restaurant next door too. The cups we got for water were red solo cups. I felt like I was at a frat party. Our food took 30 minutes to get to our table. Like I said, they were fairly busy, but not 30 minutes for a sandwich busy. I had to go ask how much longer 2 times because we were on a lunch break and waiting 30 minutes for a sandwich isn't great for those who have to get back to work. Worst part- the sandwich was disgusting. Bread wasn't fresh, and the ends were burnt. The broccoli salad was terrible (although my lunch mate did like it. He didn't however eat his sandwich). Prices are ridiculous. Cost 2 of us $23 for 2 subpar sandwiches and water. I give it two stars instead of one because it's locally owned and I would like to see it succeed. Don't go starving though because you'll be waiting forever to eat and you will be paying a premium for a sandwich that's just ok. read more

I was attracted by their ad in the SN & R of this delicious, unique-looking burger--only to be disappointed. I walked in, country music was playing, and there was a guy looking down working on some orders. Unable to find a bell to ring, and not feeling I should yell, "HEY!", I waited. Then I thought, maybe, I was at the wrong end of the counter to order because it wasn't clear. It could have been the back. Like Subway. You start at the back and pay at the front. Then this girl shows up to help him. She never acknowledges me either. I'm there about 5 minutes when these two white old ladies walk in and are immediately greeted by the girl! And I'm still there--a bald, buff Latino guy unnoticed! I was really hungry and finally made my way to Elk Grove from downtown after days of contemplating the drive just to try their burgers. But, after this, I decided they weren't worthy of my business. The service was shitty--straightup. I walked out hungry and angry. I called and asked to speak to their manager, but decided to give this review first and then let them know about it. My advice to them: Get a fucken bell for your door or your counter! And get rid of the country music! It has connotations of the south (racism). read more

I had the pleasure of eating here today, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. Truly the best sandwich I've ever had. Paula, the owner, is exceptionally welcoming and hospitable. She makes all her bread from scratch, and even the lemonade and iced tea are homemade. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Though it's a bit hard to spot, once you find it, you'll feel like you're in someone's cozy home kitchen. The homemade chips are fantastic, too. I brought a sandwich home for my husband, and he was equally impressed by the deliciousness. I spent two delightful hours chatting with Paula, and I'm so glad I met her. She is a lovely person, and now I have a fresh go-to spot for something truly yummy. This place deserves a perfect 10/10! read more

I have no words for this place, I came In, and the place seemed family friendly and felt cozy like I was at home! I ordered the BLT and the nice blonde lady said your order would be ready in 15-20 minutes so I went to go sit down. I had notice all this nice art on the wall that put me in a happy mood like chickens on the wall and a pitcher of lemonade going across the wall, something I will never forget! My food finally came and was not mushy like the other reviews said, but was very tasty and had great presentation. The chips and salsa were very good as well, and we're crunchy and nice! I took my Mother and Mother-In-Law here on Mother's day. It was very busy and the customer service was questionable. They had ran out of plastic forks and my Mother's ate their salad's with spoons. However, they loved the flavor of the salads. I had a sandwich that was supposed to have avocado and bacon on it (the staples to this sandwich) and it was missing. I did not complain because they were so busy and appeared frustrated and unprepared. Although my sandwich was missing ingredients, it was still really good. The restaurant was very nice looking.... but I was very disappointed with the service. An older gentleman greeted me and bluntly started a strange conversation about his meat (while reeking of whiskey), I was felling very awkward and frightened. After I got my tri tip sandwich, the meat was very hard to chew and tasted like a very over used barbecue. In my mind, I really wanted to give this place a second chance but after strange stomach cramps and explosive diarrhea, I will never return to this restaurant. A fart should never be a surprise. Here's what I got: 4pc Broaster Chicken The Broaster chicken dinner was the standout and easily my favorite part of the dinner. The four-piece meal is regularly priced at $19.99 and comes with a choice of side, plus garlic toast or cornbread, along with a salad. The chicken arrived golden, crispy, and exactly how broasted chicken should be--moist inside with a crunchy exterior that tasted fresh, not greasy. I chose the mashed potatoes as my side and they were creamy with chunks of potato whipped within. They were topped with country gravy, turning these spuds into full-on comfort food. Since it was a weekday there was no wait time for a table. The menu as you could guess is diner themed. It has hamburgers, hotdog, soup, salad, salads, sandwiches, ice cream, milkshakes, and classic breakfast and hearty diner entrées. The ice cream is from Sacramento's own local ice cream maker, Gunther's. Yes! I ordered the Home Run breakfast special $8.99. It's not served on holidays and the weekends. It's one egg, pancake or toast, hash browns or potatoes, or bacon, sausage or ham. The pancake was as big as my Charlie Brown head, and it was fluffy with a subtle vanilla flavor. Yum. The hash browns had crispy edges, which I prefer. Classic breakfast at a good price. Luved it. The Hubs had a cheeseburger and asked for hash browns instead of fries. He dug his burger. The patty was thick and not thin, flimsy. The seating consist of tables, booths, and counter seating. My party of three plopped ourselves into a booth. I sunk into the seat, the padding is a bit worn. Not uncomfortable. But could use some plumping. The interior is clean. The whole exterior and interior had a 1950s diner theme. Very cute. The mini jukeboxes on the tables are super cute, but they don't work, just a display item. But darn cute one. Plus a great conversational piece. The customer service was terrific. Everyone (the hostess, our waiter, the other waitress) we encountered was darn hospitable and engaging making our experience all the better.

Access to an unlimited salsa bar and unlimited chips is also a great touch. The tables and chairs could've been a bit cleaner, but it wasn't egregious or anything. I'll definitely make an effort to come back more frequently. Hopefully the other items on the menu give as much bang for your buck as this one.

I tried the The Cali it is made with asada as the meat. For me the asada needed a little more salt/flavoring. Again my Mama used garlic salt, that gives the food an extra burst of flavor. But my bowl over all was very tasty. The potato was cooked to perfection and cheese melted throughout the bowl. It's topped with crema... I was a little taken back because there wasn't much crema on top of my bowl of deliciousness. Which I would have liked to have more crema...as I watched the other bowls being prepared, there was a good amount of crema. So that is why I rated my experience at Cornatoes a (4). I will return to give them more business in the near future. I encourage everyone to stop by and give them a try. Mondays they are at the Kaiser on Big Horn in Elk Grove and Fridays at the Kaiser on Bruceville in South Sacramento. They're at the Farmers Markets held in these days at Kaiser.
