We were seated quickly on a Friday night and did not need a reservation. The food was cooked well, although the menu options are a bit odd. I have been here a handful of times but I believe this is the last time I will be back. I arrived in a Friday night around 9PM with two friends. The restaurant was less than half full. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 out of 3 glasses had lipstick stains on them. They were apologetic and offered to comp an appetizer for us as a result. I ordered the ahi tuna salad, about ten minutes after we ordered, we were told they were completely out of tuna. I changed to the mahi tacos with broccoli as a side. When our food arrived, we didn't have silverware and had to flag down a server for it. My friend ordered the smaller version of a pasta dish. A giant bowl of pasta arrived, so she confirmed with the server that it was the correct size and he said yes. My tacos arrived with the wrong side item. When the bill came, my friend was charged for the larger portion. At this point worn the handful of mishaps, it was clear that the sever was embarrassed. The bathroom stall I used had the toilet paper holder broken off and sitting on the saturated floor. A friend of mine was in town visiting and we decided to go grab a bite to eat. We ended up going to Bahama Breeze, though I usually prefer local places as opposed to chain restaurants. It doesn't help that I grew up in the Keys and thus my judgment of places that try to mimic the islands is skewed. Looking through the menu, I decided to go with the seafood paella. It was tasty, and I didn't have any problems with it, but frankly this means that the menu wasn't all that inspiring to me. The decor is kitschy island themed, and there wasn't a natural flow to how things were decorated. It just seems... forced. We stopped in to Bahama breeze in Gainesville because we have stopped here before and enjoy the experience and food. We walked in with our three kids and asked for a table on the patio because we wanted fresh air. It was at 1:45 PM so the lunch rush was over and we looked outside and there were plenty of tables available. They had multiple four top, six top, high tops and approximately half the patio was still available. We asked for a highchair for our little kid and she said no there are no seats available outside that can fit you. We gave her a little push back and said to check again because we saw so many available. She completely lied to us for a reason I am not sure.. Another host had came over to seat us and gave us a place in the patio and was super nice. Our waiter was really good and friendly, and the food was mediocre. She was still there when we left, she turned her back so that she would not have to look at us as we left the restaurant. We will probably not come back to the restaurant for quite a while. I ordered the chicken tostado salad and I must say I was rather disappointed. Big plate of lettuce. About a tablespoon (maybe 2 if I'm being nice) of a corn bean and tomato mix. I'm a tomato fan so extremely disappointed with literally 3 very small pieces of tomato. No onion. No other veggies except a quarter of a small avocado -And maybe half of a grilled chicken breast. Did not look even close to the menu picture. I actually ate before I came and am still hungry. Definitely not worth what I paid. The wait staff was very friendly and wait time from entering to getting food was about 30 mins. My bf got coconut shrimp tacos ($13.49), I got a bacon cheddar burger ($14.49). The best part of both meals were the fries. The entrees I'd equate to Applebee's or Chili's type food (possibly from the microwave). I probably won't be back. We had a nice group of 14 ride up to Bahama breeze for an early dinner out on the patio. The restaurant was very spacious inside and out, and had a colorful decor. The service was good and the food was very good. My wife had the tropical chicken salad and she loved it. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and it was very good. Others in our group had everything from ribs to steak and shrimp and a variety of other delicious dishes. I wish i would have remembered to take pictures of the dishes, but i was hungry and dove right in. Quick service considering it was a Saturday and Olive Garden had an hour wait time. I was not as hungry so I just got a bowl of soup and my bf got an actual meal with appetizer . Empanadas weren't closed up, on the edges it was quiet open so I was wondering what was up with that. Overall not sure if I'll come back to this location. My bf and I went to the Orlando location and it does not compare. Orlando location had better quality control. If I was hungry like the weekend I went then sure I'll go in for a quick bite but don't think this is one of those places you go to get a nice hearty meal. We felt the service was lacking. There were 4 of us.We ordered Conch fritters for appetizers. They were great! We ordered for dinner, mahi tacos, the coconut shrimp appetizer with a cup of black bean soup, skirt steak, and a bowl of black bean soup with a side of yellow rice. They brought the skirt steak and the coconut shrimp and asked what else did we order? We told them , a little while later they brought the mahi tacos, and the side of yellow rice ( no black bean soup) ,then after about 10 minutes our server came by and said, didn't they bring the black bean soup? We said not yet, but we have the side of rice . A few minutes later she brought the soup. The soup was probably in a big pot in the Kitchen so not sure why it was the last thing we received. Now it's time to pay, and you have to use a portable little type of kiosk that is on the table. We wanted to use gift cards and was told that the kiosk would take them. After trying to make the kiosk take them we buzzed for help. A hostess came by to help us and said the kiosk doesn't take gift cards she would have to take them to our server? Came here with a few friends for lunch. They have a big menu with lots of tasty options. The drink menu is extensive and I HIGHLY recommend the Dragonfruit Margarita. I asked for them to make it frozen (aka: blended) and they were happy to accommodate me We ordered a couple coconut shrimp and chips and guac for appetizers. It was my brother's birthday 12/31 ! Worst experience of his life. He got the pork chop with sweet potatoes. He was eating the sweet potatoes and thought it had too many nuts in it. Come to find out there was a broken spring from a utensil that fell apart and got mixed into the sweet potatoes! God only knows how much she swallowed!!! The manager acted like it was no big deal! He told my brother that he would not have to pay for his meal! He said he would still have to pay for his wife's dinner! The manager is a total jerk. This could've put my brother in the hospital! Never let down by this chain restaurant . One of our faves for sure. Empanadas for appetizer were savory and full of flavor. Not sure what they use to make theirs but it gives a comfort food vibe.
