I use to come to Bahama Breeze twice a month when I lived down the street. I loved the atmosphere, food and live music. When we arrived and sat to hear the sounds of live Caribbean music I was in heaven. Our waiter was really nice but didn't get the fact we had been there so much there was no need for suggestions, but he just kept suggesting. The crab claws use to be awesome but now they are slightly over cooked and tiny. The coconut shrimp and Mai Mai were great with the right amount of seasoning. I had a bahamarita (my favorite) and my husband had the Aruba Red beer (his favorite). If we hadn't ordered the crab claws I would have definitely given Bahama Breeze a 5 star. I was visiting my family and they decided to take me here before my flight home. What a lovely way to end my vacation. The atmosphere and vibe of the place takes you right to your favorite tropical island. The margaritas are amazing! I ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta....one word: SUPERB! The food was decent but a little overpriced...the jerk shrimp appetizer was good, my tropical fruit/grilled chicken salad was good, my friend's burger was big but bland. They didn't even bring out any condiments for him besides a small serving of ketchup. Kind of weird. They have a special beer on tap, some type of Red, it was pretty good actually. Went here on a Saturday night, sort of a last minute decision. At 630 I called to make a reservation or ask about a wait, I was put on the call ahead seating list and was seated promptly upon arrival. Although the restaurant was busy and my servers section was full, he greeted my friend and I within minutes. He answered all of our questions, helped us decide on drinks, and served them shortly thereafter. My margarita was gross and hardly tasted like a margarita and later, my Long Island wasn't much better. However, the food made up for what the drinks were lacking. This Bahamas breeze is huge, plenty of room for group's with a nice sized bar and that fun island feeling throughout. The place was clean and the people we're friendly. We went late on a Thursday night, lucky for us we were in the happy hour, and their 1/2 off draft beer and apps, this was a great deal and the huge nacho on the appetizers menu was more than a meal alone. Went for dinner the week before Christmas with a friend around 8 pm on a Thursday night. Was crowded but still got a nice seat in front of the window. Had the Salmon with mashed sweet potatoes and asparagus. Salmon was cooked great, mashed potatoes were missing something sweeter than what they were. Came here for the happy hour during the weekday...drinks are at special price..and all the appetizers are half off!!...we ordered Pina Cola for 5 bucks..and 4 appetizers...the service is quick..the drink and food came out within 15 minutes... I love its coconut shrimps..really crispy and its coconut coating gives this coconutish texture and added little sweetness to the shrimps... my husband had the tuna appetizers.which he said i was okay and probably his least favorite one out of four .. ordered the crab stacks...it is good..the crabs are fresh but wish had more flavor to it... beef empanada..are pretty good...it is so fresh and the stuffs had a curry flavor to it...love it I would come back again during its happy hour for its great price/great food.. read more

Several dishes are spectacular. For example the lobster and shrimp linguini is amazing! Coconut shrimp and Seafood Paella are nice too. I am quite a fan of several of their seafood dishes - they are very good. And conversely I see people choosing some of what they consider 'safer' dishes come out disappointed. Live on the edge and try something new, several of their 'exotic' and seafood dishes are quite nice. Moral: try something new - you really might like it! read more

Was there Saturday night around 5:00-5:30ish, called on the phone to see if I could book a table they said, "you have to be in person to reserve a spot in line" so I went in person. Got there around 5:15 and checked my name in, the lady at the counter said it will be about 30-45 minutes and took my number down. So me and my party went to our car to wait for a text or call. 40 minutes later we went inside to see if it was anywhere near our turn to be seated. Turns out they took my name off the list because they called my name NEVER DID I GET A TEXT OR CALL to notify that there was a table ready for me. Why would you take my number down if you weren't going to notify anything?? Weird to me because I work in the restaurant industry and i've never experienced this. After about an hour they finally called my name and the staff was very rude had a attitude said "oh i'll take (my name)" with a rude ass snarky attitude which made me giggle because she's probably around the same age as me and was being pretty childish to be working there. We got sat in the booth, my waiter was standing there staring for a good 5-7 minutes until he came to greet my party. Came over introduced himself, very quietly I could barely hear him. Gave him our drink orders and put in an appetizer, he came back about 8-10 minutes later with our waters and two other drinks, which is fine. We got our appetizer pretty quickly, once he brought it out, it didn't come with the sauce it's suppose to come with, he told us that "we ran out" so I was shocked there again, we asked what other kinds of sauces you've got and he named one sauce ONE! so I knew he had to be newer or at least doesn't even know half the menu! We were ready to order so i say "we can put our order in now", he proceeds to just stare and not say anything so me being a waitress myself, told my friend to order and when I ordered my food I asked if they had any other cheese rather then goat cheese. All my waiter said was "we have cheddar" , which didn't seem right to me because who only has two cheeses? I told him it's fine I don't need cheese whatever. About 15-20 minutes goes buy and we got our food, I had gotten a salad and when I look down at the amount of dressing I received I was shocked for having such a small amount of dressing for such a good size salad? I asked for more dressing and he kindly got me more. My chicken in my salad was not cooked all the way but i'm not the type to complain about food so I pushed it to the side and ate around it which was disappointing. I had to ask another server for what kind of sauces you guys had and she was able to tell me more and actually told me that you guys didn't run out of my appetizer dressing and ended up getting us some. hmm weird. I also had to go up to MANAGEMENT and ask what type of cheeses they have because my waiter had no clue. Overall my waiter was nice and kind, but he had no type of comprehension, no eye contact, he seemed very uncomfortable waiting on tables which isn't what I expected to go out too being a waitress myself. This was my first time coming here for my birthday and it was a nice place for my date. I personally love dimmed lighting and that's what I got. It was a little on the loud side which was fine. I've always wanted to try this place. I mean, it looks amazing from the outside, and reminds me of a modernized straw hut in the bahamas. And the inside looks great as well! But the atmosphere does little to make up for the most important part of any restaurant - the food. Service was not too good. It was about 15 minutes after seating that we received our water. That's quite a long time. But we were waiting on 1 more from our party to show up, so that may be why. I ordered the chicken curry bowl with Nann bread and some mango salsa. The mango salsa was way too sweet, like it was carmelized. And the nann bread was ok, but not very fluffy. The curry? Just ok. Nothing special. I think the problem with this place is that it tries to cover too many tastes in its menu. They should really take a page from Gordon Ramsay or the Restaurant Impossible guy and slim down their menu, and offer more specialized, better-tasting dishes. And the food is very overpriced, but that may be due to the location. I think the next time I come here, I'll just drive by. There's no reason for me to stop here again, and my friends agree. My boyfriend and I dined at this location just the other night. We came in just before 8pm and asked to sit in the somewhat secluded area with the fire pit, just wanting a quiet dinner. This was reserved for a large party later on, so instead the hostess directs us to another area placing us directly next to a server station. We were greeted by Aaron, who although friendly, was overly comfortable in continually using the word "man" to address my boyfriend. A server shouldn't treat his guest like his "bros". We aren't pals. We aren't gym buddies. We are paying you, at least respect the guests for that matter. If he had addressed me with the same, "hey lady" we would have had a much bigger problem. I was irritated by the offensive level of noise from the servers in the station area directly behind us for a good portion of our stay. Absolutely unacceptable. The servers-- ours in particular being the outright loudest of the group-- were talking badly about another set of guests being waited on. Now, you think for a moment if a server is so carefree and open about talking poorly about other guests, they may do the same for you? If there is ever an issue as a server, take it to the kitchen-- not where I can hear you. Having to sit through that as a guest was appalling and not to mention terribly inexcusable. Not only that, but after having a bone dry beer bottle for a while, the bottle was removed (he didn't want another), and no water was brought in place. Instead, my boyfriend sat there with absolutely no drink in front of him for the duration and this is supposedly okay. Bahama Breeze, the unfortunate part is that the food was delicious but the meal in its entirety was completely bastardized by the unprofessional service and clowning around in the server station. Our waitress was incredible; very kind and attentive. The hostess, however, was incredibly terse. We came in with a larger party, and were immediately told "no, we can't serve you." When we offered to split into smaller groups at separate tables, we were told that that was somehow still not doable. We were very polite, but the hostess seemed to be personally offended that we came in with a group of that size. I understand that some things are out of the hands of the hostess, but I thought her tone in speaking to us was extremely hostile, which I thought was pretty uncalled for and inappropriate. Ultimately, somebody else came and was able to find a table for us, and after we were seated, I counted at least two other groups with the exact number of people we had in the restaurant. Really made me feel as though I had escaped to some sort of food paradise... until the food came. It's not that the food was horrendous, it was just unremarkable and totally forgettable. For dinner, we started off with some chorizo sliders and coconut shrimp. The sliders were odd in that the chorizo tasted more like a meat loaf, just very salty and uncharacteristic of what it should have been. The coconut shrimp was decent but pretty standard rate with a sauce that was overwhelmingly sweet. For the main dish, I decided to be ambitious and try a new item on the menu, the island curry, which ended up being a lot less exciting than it sounds. The curry was pretty bland with too many coconut and almond flakes inside, giving it the texture of a pastry. The shrimp inside seemed like a last minute addition as it tasted like mini cocktail shrimps thrown into a curry dip. On the other hand, my friends did get sandwiches and fish tacos that seemed more appetizing. I'd probably give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again, but as many of the reviews here have stated: pretty average experience. Nice decor though and 'A' for effort. read more

I've came here a couple times and the food was always great. What Impressed me was a order I made yesterday to be delivered today. We placed a big order today for our company and we placed it a day ahead. They separated everyone's order and wrote their names and tied the bags and we had about 10 people. We wanted it delivered at 11:45 and it got here exactly at 11:45. The staff was amazing, the girl that I talked to that took the order and I believe his name was joe that helped me out when I wanted to order extra food was extra nice and patient. I'm going to start off with a couple things that are bugging me and if you can lend some insight, feel free to message me. First, I ordered their tropical salad. It has pumpkin seeds. I realize pumpkin seeds or pepitas can be found in places like Mexico, but since pumpkins are a mostly a winter squash, I just don't see how they fit in a tropical salad. Also the salads have thin length cut cucumbers. Since cucumbers are in the gourd family, I'm just not understanding the tropical connection. Second, their Bahamian Seafood Chowder is cream based. From what I have researched and the recipes I have seen, Bahamian style means tomato based. Ok on to the visit....we were told by the host to sit anywhere we want, so we did, and there we sat for almost 15 minutes before a waitress came over and asked if we had been helped. I read online that this place was voted one of the best Margaritas in the Detroit area, so silly me I had to try. It was nothing special, in fact it was just a typical Margarita mix with some cheap Tequila. Who voted this? I ordered the Island flat bread. Must have been from the Island of Lean Cuisine because thats what it tasted like, a microwaved Lean Cuisine pizza. Also had the black bean soup. This is what kept me from voting 1 star. It was very tasty but the beans were pureed too much. Black beans have great texture and should be left in tact. I may go back to give a second try, but it is a small chance. read more
