This place has got it....still It's a chain, but they still work hard with service and excellent food. I had the salmon salad and it was a bed of perfection. The salmon was prepared perfectly..it was crumbly and flavorful. I wish I could eat salmon like this everyday. Had a wonderful bowl of their chicken tortilla soup. It had a lime wedge on it, with lime infused in it as well...and it worked so well and it was a wonderfully delicious soup. I'm a huge fan of sea food, so I'd like to continue to go and try more and more and more and more and more....you get the idea...I'm a fan! read more

Finally dined in and yes, Taste of Jamaica was it. Maybe next time something new. They took care of my missing greens and meal still taste great. Earlier tonight I had the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant at Bahama Breeze in Troy. I was subjected to a fifteen minute dialogue/lecture that came from the African-American manager (who I did not request to come to my table). He felt it necessary to inform my companion and I that African american professional women were 95% of his problematic customers. Now we simply could not eat the jerk chicken wings - they were too salty and were requesting be either a different batch or willing to cancel our order. It's my favorite thing on the menu. I've been ordering it for years. We were not asking for any kind of compensation nor did we did ask for a manager. Upon leaving, I called to request a call from the general manager at regional manager on Monday, I was told 'why do you want to talk to a manager I'm a manager and he was a manager.' Unbelievable After the manager stayed at the table for the 15 to 20 minutes, we then had to hunt down the waiter to take our order. Ordinarily I just leave but I had not eaten all day long. Horrible experience. At the end of the evening we were informed by the waiter that he comped our chicken wing order, As if we had eaten the wings. Each one of us had one Wing out of 16. We were sitting at the bar and the glasses above our head were soooo dusty and dirty, I thought they were for "show" until the bartender grabbed 2 of them and made drinks WITHOUT even washing them out, so it really made us think of how the kitchen was. A franchise seafood restaurant with a decent selection of menu items and a very diverse drink list featuring various tropical beverages that you might find at a Caribbean resort. While I am not much of a fan of Caribbean cuisine, I did find the meal to be quite good. I had the seafood chowder and on conch fritters, along with the drink sampler. The drinks are on the sugary side, as most tropical drinks are, so getting through a whole flight of mini drinks take a while. The frozen pineapple drink was my favorite and it is served in an actual coconut, which is fun. Not sure I would come back as it isn't really my style of restaurant but the service and food was very good and the atmosphere is admittedly very fun. I liked the vibe of this restaurant and its theme. Their alcoholic beverages are very good. I suggest you try the mango jalapeño mojito and their chicken jerk pasta. The waitresses are very nice. There are huge portions but also the option for a lighter portion which is a good thing My only complaint is that the chicken jerk pasta had asparagus in it that was all stem-like. They did not use the top parts of the asparagus, but the bottom, hard-to-chew parts. read more

Our first server totally ignored us. We had a great server Allison fill in for Angela. We kept getting the excuse she was oversat. We literally watched her go to a different table sat 20 minutes after us and took care of them. No apology from her but she kept looking at us everytime she helped the other table. Not our fault to be ignored. Finally Allison acknowledged us and took our order. She was literally the one bright light. Drinks came fast. Forgot my salad brought our food first. When I said to my husband "I guess I'm not getting my salad (which is 2.99 extra). We got the excuse the runner forgot it. I simply let him Ben know that I don't want it anymore, I'll eat my meal. The server must have went to the manager because they came over right away and apologized. After that we Ordered chicken strips to go for our daughter who was with a sitter. Waited a while. Restaurant was not busy. We were given a 25% discount for all of our troubles which was great but does not make up for the fact we felt like an after thought. We had a $100 gift card so we were happy to tip Allison the close to $50 difference but the rest of the night was unbelievable. Please check my other reviews I do not complain unless necessary. On top of the experience there is a strange smell as soon as you walk in, similar to swear. This was my third time at this location and my least favorite. We were seated immediately, despite the crowd, which could have either been my reservation or that there were only two of us but I digress. Our server was friendly but I'm not sure if it was because of a typical server assumption (which I'm aware of due to having worked in the industry for a few year) that because we weren't ordering drinks/appetizers or anything else time shouldn't be wasted on us? Outside of drinks, dropping off lemon and taking our order we were only approached twice after. Once to ask how the food that took almost 45 minutes to come was tasting (it was COLD, btw) and then to ask if we needed more water (never received a refill) and if we wanted dessert. Needless to say, you can imagine those were answered with a no and we asked for our checks. Also, I had to go get my own Togo box from the POS station after sitting in front of my food for 20 minutes having not touched it. Maybe it was an off day, maybe we should have been spending more. We had only stopped in to use a gift card and grab a quick bite, but the food here was a little BOOO. We ordered chips and salsa to start...a small plate arrived with no more than a dozen bi-color tortilla chips and a small bowl of pico de gallo. It was fresh "salsa" but come on...how skimpy can you be with tortilla chips. For the entrees I had the Mahi fish tacos and my special lady had the Tostones with Chicken. To be fair my tacos tasted pretty good but they had a small piece of fish, a ton of lettuce and the guacamole was brown which took away from the presentation. The Tostones were pretty good but nothing to bring me back...tasty but heavy fried for plantains. I remember when Bahama Breeze was new on the scene...the food was a little better whereas now it seems very chain restaurant-ish. Service was good. Pre bussing was not her strong suit. The food was delicious and healthier than most restaurants. Chicken wings had a burst of Caribbean jerk flavor, skin was crispy, bbq sauce was sweet and tangy. Hubbys jackfruit tacos had so many different layers of flavor; sweet, spicy, fresh, and texturally different as well. I've been to this Bahama Breeze a few times over the past few years and it's always been pretty mediocre. Drinks take forever to get no matter what or when you order. The most recent time, I ordered a Caesar salad and it came out w cheese (I asked for it without) and after my entree. My friend's steak was cooked super well done and he asked for it medium. He ended up sending it back and they remade it and got it right. We got the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer which was good and actually a pretty good size. There's no possible way you can have so much food on the menu and have all of it be above average. And that's kind of what I experienced. On my visit, the appetizers were probably the best part, although getting Ahi Tuna and Coconut Shrimp wrong is hard to do. The Avocado & Crabmeat Salad was vastly overpriced for what you get. You order this salad that's a few bucks more than any other one so you expect a good portion. Instead, you get crab in half an avocado shell and then tomato salsa in the other. Throw in a small, regular salad and that's the entree. I also had the fish tacos and they were fine. This place is cool and probably more fun during Happy Hour, but don't come expecting amazing food. This is not the restaurants fault nor the company it's the servers because if ur unhappy with your job you should still provide great customer service. For the entre, we had the beef enchiladas. They were pretty good. I had a taste of Jamaica. It had a variety of items including jerk chicken, pork, plantains, beef enchilada, rice and beans. The meal had too much meat and a greater portion of rice and beans would have offset that. The jerk chicken had a hint of the jerk seasoning flavor and could have used a stronger flavor to bring out the taste. Even though the pork was a bit too salty, when combined with the sweetness of the mango sauce and plantains, and spicy jerk chicken seasoning, resulted in a great tasting combination flavor! Went for Mother's Day a couple weeks ago and I'm so glad we made a reservation. We got there about 12 and it wasn't super busy. Got seated right away and put in our drink and appetizers orders. Everything was hot and fresh, I got the mango margarita and the firecracker shrimp, so good . I ordered a grilled chicken meal with this cilantro sauce i wasn't fond of, it was cooked wonderfully i just didn't like the taste. That plus our waitress was a little dry is why i gave them 4 stars but otherwise a nice experience. We'll definitely come back. read more

One of the greatest experiences I have had at a restaurant. I hadn't been to this place in years so I thought that it was about time for my girlfriend and I to give it a try again. We got a really good booth to start out, right near the kitchen so you can see everything that is being made. Their menu is very daunting with how many drink items and food items are on it, but that was okay because each item was meaningful, they weren't just on the menu to be on there. The drinks were hard to decide on, however, I went with the Mama's Hooch and Holler mixed drink flight which contained the Bahama Mama, Bahamian Sunset, and the Goombay Smash, all three were incredibly tasty. Then came time for an appetizer. We elected to get the Spinach Dip and chips. I had never had or thought I would enjoy Spinach Dip. I decided to try it and its taste was amazing. The chips were warm and crispy and the dip was also pretty warm and tasteful. The meal I decided to get was the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Pasta, which was also incredible. The chicken had just the right amount of spice to it and the portion was pretty large to where I had to take some of it home. After multiple visits from the manager to check in on us, we decided to have desert. We were so full but the manager had sold the Key Lime Pie so well, that we absolutely had to try it. OMG! So many bad reviews. I was there 3-4 times and each time I really enjoyed it. That means that food was good, drinks were good, service was good and prices were reasonable. I had pasta and their portions are pretty big. For drink it is always freshly squeezed lemonade with cane sugar. It's awesome. Service was fast and good. With smile. I've had two meals here. The first was decent Whitefish, nothing special. It seemed pricey for the quality. You would expect the same taste at a Big Boy. The second was a salmon pasta dish, which made me violently ill. The only time I have experienced food poisoning quite like this was in Mexico where I was knocked over by a bad club sandwich.
