    Yellow curry with chicken
    Dianne P.

I arrived late (1:45) for lunch but the website said they were open. The sign on the door said they were closed, but there were people going in. I asked if they were open or closed and when I said it was just me, I was invited in. They are suffering from a severe staff shortage! However, the inside was very clean! I ordered Tom Kah soup chicken and it was very good. I also ordered the yellow curry with chicken. The bowl was generous and the rice delicious. The curry had chunks of potatoes, zucchini, onions and peanuts. The flavor was delicious. I usually like my food spicy but because of a silly medical issue can only have things mild for a while. The owner , Ken, was the greeter, cashier, waiter and table busser. His wife (I forgot her name) was the cook and kept things running smoothly. They have one waitress for now and are very understaffed so please be patient. After Christmas, family will be coming in to help them and things will get better. They will even open earlier in the afternoon to accommodate state workers that go to lunch at 11:30. I will be back to this location. I remember the Bahn Thai from the 1980s and look forward to doing business with them! Great food and service with a smile!

We arrived and they had a 25 something minute wait, while the restaraunt wasn't even that full! Plus they were out of mango sticky rice. We waited our time, I got Tom kha which was delicious and a good serving, then we got our curries. My duck curry was bright, popped with color and flavor, the fried basil leaves were a nice and tasty garnish, but the duck just tastes like fried chicken (was also expensive for the portion). The red curry salmon tasted fishy. Now onto the hardest part, we paid $7+ each, for the taro and pumpkin custards, they were these nasty, dry desserts that looked like they wanted to be flan, ironically tje pumpkin was topped with mango, when they said they were out. Decent food, not worth the price or wait, especially not those desserts!

This right here was worth all the wait' i also got pad see u, i forgot to take picture !!

Yes this place is food heaven on earth ! The food is fresh made and it may take a little longer but it is worth the wait ! I will never complain , it comes HOT and delicious! The restaurant is spacious and has two different area . I highly recommend this restaurant, it's seems like it's family owned! I have been supporting since they were on South Monroe . I'm not sure if it not was busy over here but they will always have my support, thankful for authentic Thai food !

Well, well, well! Bahn Thai has a new location and the food is as good as it has ever been. I stopped going there because of service and food not tasting the same when it was off the South Monroe location. There was once upon a time I ate here at least once a week or every other week. The ambiance may not be up to par but the food was delicious. Chicken basil rolls are crunchy and full of flavor. There was plenty of leftovers. I hope customers can look past the old building and let the food do all the talking. I will definitely be back to try other options on the menu.

I'm obsessed. Best thai food in Tallahassee hands down. I've tried so many things and everything is great.

Bahn Thai is the best Thai Restaurant in Tallahassee for taste and value. Bahn Thai has the most flavorful curries, the largest portions, and more veggies in their dishes than the other Thai restaurants in Tally. They recently re-opened at their new location: 2531 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32301. They are only accepting take out orders right now. I am not sure when they will have dine-in service. They only have 5 main dishes that can be made vegan (yellow curry, panang curry, red curry, green curry and drunken noodles) because the cook wants to make the other entrees with fish sauce. However the other Thai restaurants in town don't have a lot of veggies in their curries and the sauces are super bland. It's worth it. Plus they have lots great vegan appetizers - veggie gyoza, avocado spring rolls, vegetable samosas, fried tofu, and vegetable spring rolls. This photo is take-out on our own plates - yellow curry w/ fried tofu, red curry w/ fried tofu, veggie gyoza and panang curry w/ soft tofu. Note: they don't have rice noodles - I added that at home. All dishes come with rice. Also I asked for mushrooms instead of zucchini for the panang curry.

Stir Fried Eggplant Basil (Duck). Definitely something new to me, but totally worth it.

The dining area is not very spacious, but is intimate, which I really like. We enjoyed the background music, which was along the lines of smooth jazz. Our server was super nice and explained in great detail, the specials for the day. We started the meal with several appetizers: Spring Rolls, Fried Calamari, and Crab Cheese Wontons. We enjoyed the appetizers along with the sauces (except for the peanut sauce, which I didn't care for). For our entrees, we choose from the Specials menu, which was written on a board for all to see. I ordered the Red Snapper, which was fried and topped with carrots, baby tomatoes, onions, pineapple and cilantro. Had I been listening as I should, I would have asked to not include the pineapples or the loads of cilantro. The dish came with a side of rice. My husband ordered the ribs and chicken entree with noodles. He said the ribs were good; they were so tender that they slide off the bone. Both entrees were tasty; in my case, a quick fix was to push the cilantro and the pineapples to the side and enjoy my fish with just the veggies. To add to our dining experience, the chef and/or owner came out ask if we were enjoying our meal; love the special touch. We finished the meal with an order of ice cream that we shared. I am usually fine with just plain vanilla ice cream, but what we ordered was different and quite delicious. The ice cream is "home-made" and comes in exotic flavors. We choose the mango tea ice cream; it was mouthwatering! Overall, we had an enjoyable dinner and plan to return to sample other menu items. Note, if paying with a card, there is a fee (no fee with cash).

I would pass on the fried rice next time as $20 for a half a take out container of rice is very high. The white rice was perfect. I found it a little weird that whole baby carrots are in the dishes. I wish the portion size was larger for the price. The portions are the size people should eat, but at around $25 for an entree, you kind of hope you have some leftovers. We finished everything in one setting and would have eaten more if it was available. The decor in dining room is interesting. I don't love the chair covers. The service is great. The server explained all of the specials when I dined in. When I called to order, the lady on the phone was able to help me decide on what to order. I would like to make this a regular place for us, but with a price tag of $110 for a family of 4 (no drinks since it was take out), it will stay a special occasion restaurant. There is a 4% charge if you use a credit card. The prices also seem to change frequently from the menu.

The service was very good, and the mango mojito was well crafted. This was all because the poor guy was host, bartender, server, and bus boy. The food, on the other hand, was a different story. We started by ordering Chicken 65 and Samosas for an appetizer. They took forever and came out barely warm. For dinner, my wife ordered the chicken korma and I the Chole (Chana) Masala. We also ordered the butter naan and the cheese and garlic naan. My wife's dish was okay. It's not as good as several other places in town. My dish was really weird. It's one of my favorites, usually, but this came out as a thin brown sauce with chickpeas that has just been taken out of the can...a bit al dente. This was not the usually thick masala that I've had many other places. This sank right through the rice. It was not good and I did not take it home as leftovers. The naan, for which you pay $3-4 was a single piece of naan cut into four pieces. The garlic cheese naan had garlic butter and a cheese powder of some sort sprinkled on top. Not a good value. There are other, more amazing Indian restaurants in town that we will continue to frequent. We've given this two tries and won't be back.

The covered concert space across from this restaurant hasn't seen any performances in ages. Dreamland BBQ that abutted the venue has come and gone and Lemongrass has changed owners. What the original owners probably had hoped would be a destination dining spot has become a hidden restaurant down inside the old mall footprint. You have to know it's in there, that you can drive into that center of everything and that there are parking spaces down in there. I suppose they get some business from people going to the nail spa or the cut and shave shop nearby. I think I saw a fitness center there too. Oh yeah, with the demise of the original vision for The Center of Tallahassee, it now has a bunch of State of Florida employees as a captive audience for lunch. The original Lemongrass was Thai and Vietnamese food. With the new owners there is now a separate Indian food menu as well. I remember enjoying the Thai dishes in the past and the Indian dish I chose this time was tasty. I asked for medium spice level and I have to give them credit for actually spicing it. So many seem afraid to actually make a dish spicy. I ordered a Mango Lassi after the spice level started to build in my mouth and on my tongue so I could mitigate the burn a little bit. Milk products never fail me. The service was laconic. The one waiter seemed more interested in what was on his phone. He had trouble understanding my English and I had trouble understanding his English so I was pleased that I got what I ordered. The food came out in good time but I wouldn't count on much attention being paid after you get your food. The restaurant is showing wear and tear. Vinyl baseboards are missing or drooping. Booths are comfortable but worn. In summation, the food is fine but there's not much going on that would get me to come back. Kind of a shame.
