    Panang Curry with Beef
    Jessica T.

Visiting my cousin in Tallahassee and we were craving Asian food. There isn't much Asian food in general in the area. So when I came across Reangthai, we thought why not. The place is small & that evening it was quiet which made me skeptical of my choice. However, when the food came out, my doubts went away and I was transported into a wonderful world of flavor. I went with the Rendang Curry with beef. What was unique about this dish was the nutty flavor coming from the peanuts. The curry sauce was perfection. I know that the chef puts her own style into the dish, which is very nice. It really felt like a home-cooked meal. She did come out to say hi to us as well; she is a very sweet lady. I wish this place was where I lived and not so far away. Whether you live in Tallahseee or you're just visiting, this gem is worth a taste!

Fish and shrimp Mango Curry -Special of the Day

The flavor is real, authentic Thai cuisine. It's been a rough time looking for a comparable essence of Thai food from other Asian restaurants, that's why we came back here. Haven't been here since 2022. Last time the portion was small. Price has been affected by Covid. Now the portion is acceptable, price is affected by inflation. With that aside, moving on the the review of our order. The specials: 1-mango curry with shrimp and fish(can't remember what type). Has really good flavor of coconut curry, medium heat, shrimp and fish were cooked exceptionally. Served with steamed rice. It's my first time having mango with curry but it blends well ( warning: I think one aspect of getting this dish is that you should like mango in the first place or you'll be disappointed with it). Try if you dare 8/10. 2- Pad Thai special of the day. It has beef ribs and shrimp. This is also an excellent combination. The ribs are cooked perfectly falling off the bone, shrimp is juicy and plump. The sauce is perfected with a seasoned Chef that made it. Must try 10/10. Appetizers: Chicken Satay and fresh spring rolls. The staples of a thai restaurant. Equally good. 7/10. Beef curry - not shown. 7/10. Another staple of Thai restaurants. More like a comfort food with carrots and potatoes. the beef is a little chewy. Probably needed a more delicate timing to cook it. Desserts: sticky rice with Mango and Coconut ice cream.10/10 must try. New York cheesecake with caramel drizzle and coconut ice cream 8/10. Berry ice cream with wafers. 10/10 Must try. All the desserts were great!! Special shoutout to our server Jewel(Jule?). She has made the experience very warm and welcoming. She even showed my kid how to do a peacock table cloth napkin. Excellent service.

Such a great find! Our waitress was so sweet and accommodating- answered all our questions and helped us decide on our order. Everything was fresh and delicious . We ordered the bbq special- meat was sooo tender literally fell off the bone. Soup & dessert was amazing. We will definitely come back to try other items on menu. Sorry we forgot to take pics of food

Nice little Thai place with great ambiance. We had 2 of the specials which were fabulous but ask the price, they were about $35 each and not posted so our bill was kind of a shock. A bit pricy for a Thai place. I can't tolerate hot spicy food, so I asked for my udon noodle dish to not be spicy, but they made it with NO SPICE instead of no heat, so it was very bland and tasteless. Be sure and ask for no HEAT if you don't want it spicy. We also had the ice creams which were very good. I would recommend this place if you keep in mind my suggestions in this review. Service was stellar!

The food was delicious and beautifully plates. Service may take awhile because the food is freshly prepared. Its small but cozy making it a great place for date night or a meet up with friends.

    Lunch specials!

Reangthai doesn't disappoint!!! The Pork Rib Padthai was amazing, and I can't wait to come back and try the Mango Curry!!!

If you haven't been to Reangthai Restaurant lately, you should go! It is one of the oldest restaurants in Tallahassee, in business for over 30 years. I normally only get food to go, but I made a reservation for my friend, his service dog, and me for dinner tonight. I am highly immunocompromised and rarely go indoors anywhere, so I suggested we go at 4pm when they opened to get there before any crowds. It was fabulous! Reangthai has always been one of my favorite local restaurants. Chef Donna is so talented, and the food is fresh and delicious! She makes family recipes from Thailand with high quality local ingredients. The service is always excellent, too. Kim was our server and was very kind including to my friend's service dog. We ordered crispy spring rolls with shrimp as an appetizer, and we each got Tom Kha soup with lots of extra spicy peppers added, one with shrimp and one vegetarian. We asked for it extra, extra hot and it was perfect. My friend ordered the Pork and Shrimp Pad Thai Special, and it was beautifully presented and plentiful. I ordered the Mango Curry Special with Shrimp. We were both too full to finish our meals and got to-go boxes, though I recommend leaving room for dessert if you enjoy sweets like sticky rice, cheesecake, and moon scoops (dairy-free frozen scoops). Reangthai has been in business for over 30 years...let's keep this local treasure in business by dining there!

Also ordered the hibachi salmon which came with salad and other items. Tasty and my friend seemed to have liked it. Service was good and attentive. Came with a lot of peppers and mushrooms which we liked. Did wish there was a little more noodles though. A little spicy and sweet. Flavors were fine overall, not the best I've ever had but was solid. Maybe it's just the rising costs of everything but definitely did not expect to spend as much as I did especially in Tallahassee.

We just got back tonight and honestly - why didn't we send our food back. We had the Thai scallops in lemon grass - scallops were old and full of sand, the dish was horrible, rice was old (RICE!!!), the soup was horrible, full of house mushrooms with watery coconut flavor. The last time, we got eggplant that was raw and hard in a dish. Things have little flavor. Don't know why this place is popular. It's not very good. We kept mentioning to our waiter (not his fault) that it was bad but he just kept saying, 'sorry' . We were sadly mistaken... Our first warning sign should have been when our waitress was taking our order. They were out of the Masaman double beef curry. When my wife ordered an alternate item, our waitress would say they were out of it. They were out of or not serving about half of the items on the menu. This was sort of acceptable, as our waitress mentioned that they were going to close for a month starting the next day. Fine, we were already seated and might as well try other dishes. We ended up ordering beef pad Thai and Panang curry with beef. 30 minutes go by and we still haven't gotten our entrees. Meanwhile, there was a party of 3 next to us that came in shortly after us. They had already received their food. An hour goes by and still nothing. Meanwhile, the party of 3 had already finished their food and we're getting the bill. I went up to the waitress to check on the status of our food. She went to the back and came out shortly and actually said, "I can't really talk to them back there, but they look like they're plating your food now, so probably about 5 more minutes". I was very confused. Why can't you talk to the cooks in the back? Oh well, 5 more minutes we waited, then 10 minutes. Finally, we were starving and decided to walk out, letting our waitress know to cancel our orders. She replied, saying she would let the cooks know. This is the first time I've ever walked out of a restaurant. It was a pity, as I was really craving that Pad Thai. I was baffled that the party next to us, as well as other parties were receiving their food before us, though I did notice most dishes that were coming out were soups. I'm not sure if the cooking staff had issues with other food. A point to note, most patrons who were getting their food before us were white, while my wife and I are Asian. I'm not accusing them of being prejudice or racist. This is simply an observation we made. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. The hunt goes on for a Thai restaurant in Tallahassee.

The service was very good, and the mango mojito was well crafted. This was all because the poor guy was host, bartender, server, and bus boy. The food, on the other hand, was a different story. We started by ordering Chicken 65 and Samosas for an appetizer. They took forever and came out barely warm. For dinner, my wife ordered the chicken korma and I the Chole (Chana) Masala. We also ordered the butter naan and the cheese and garlic naan. My wife's dish was okay. It's not as good as several other places in town. My dish was really weird. It's one of my favorites, usually, but this came out as a thin brown sauce with chickpeas that has just been taken out of the can...a bit al dente. This was not the usually thick masala that I've had many other places. This sank right through the rice. It was not good and I did not take it home as leftovers. The naan, for which you pay $3-4 was a single piece of naan cut into four pieces. The garlic cheese naan had garlic butter and a cheese powder of some sort sprinkled on top. Not a good value. There are other, more amazing Indian restaurants in town that we will continue to frequent. We've given this two tries and won't be back.

The covered concert space across from this restaurant hasn't seen any performances in ages. Dreamland BBQ that abutted the venue has come and gone and Lemongrass has changed owners. What the original owners probably had hoped would be a destination dining spot has become a hidden restaurant down inside the old mall footprint. You have to know it's in there, that you can drive into that center of everything and that there are parking spaces down in there. I suppose they get some business from people going to the nail spa or the cut and shave shop nearby. I think I saw a fitness center there too. Oh yeah, with the demise of the original vision for The Center of Tallahassee, it now has a bunch of State of Florida employees as a captive audience for lunch. The original Lemongrass was Thai and Vietnamese food. With the new owners there is now a separate Indian food menu as well. I remember enjoying the Thai dishes in the past and the Indian dish I chose this time was tasty. I asked for medium spice level and I have to give them credit for actually spicing it. So many seem afraid to actually make a dish spicy. I ordered a Mango Lassi after the spice level started to build in my mouth and on my tongue so I could mitigate the burn a little bit. Milk products never fail me. The service was laconic. The one waiter seemed more interested in what was on his phone. He had trouble understanding my English and I had trouble understanding his English so I was pleased that I got what I ordered. The food came out in good time but I wouldn't count on much attention being paid after you get your food. The restaurant is showing wear and tear. Vinyl baseboards are missing or drooping. Booths are comfortable but worn. In summation, the food is fine but there's not much going on that would get me to come back. Kind of a shame. That whole area down in the center of The Center of Tallahassee had such promise.
