I got a plate with half brisket, half ribs, Mac n cheese, and brisket pinto beans. It was way too much food for me. I could've easily shared with someone and we still would've both been stuffed. But, who doesn't love leftovers. The ribs and brisket were so good. Ribs fell off the bone. Brisket was juicy and tender. All marinated nicely. The Mac n cheese was too cheesy for my liking. I heard a lot of hype, so thought I'd try it! Had 2 meats and 2 sides - one for myself and one for my daughter. Jalapeño sausage, fantastic! Pulled pork- mediocre at best, portion size is lacking and I got the heel of the bread for my piece of bread . Macaroni- no! Baked beans, fantastic! Overall, it was okay. macaroni was a disappointment and cold. Spent $50, not worth overall price, wasn't horrible, but wasn't great. This was some of the best barbecue I've had and that's not a small statement! Let's get right to it: I ordered the mini Trinity with, beef, brisket, and sausage+ Mac and cheese/ Texas Twinkie w/ banana pudding. The brisket was absolute perfection... Crispy on the top and all of those juicy wonderful insides just perfect-it didn't need the sauce but mustard sauce is special. The ribs were outstanding... Incredibly moist and lots of fat, which is how I like it. so delicious and the rub they use is a perfect mix of salty and sweet-really let meat speak for itself. The jalapeño cheese sausage was really delightful... Too spicy for me, but that's a preference thing. The flavor was great. The four cheese mac & cheese is hands-down the best I've had on planet earth. One bite made me cry! A meal unto itself. Texas Twinkie was a bacon wrapped jalapeño filled with some magical cheesy concoction that was also stellar The banana pudding was perfect... Distinct layers, not soggy... just right. All up I would say this is a place that must be experienced. Heather was extremely helpful and friendly. It's a little on the spendy side, but you really get what you pay for here and I will be back. First timer.... I came here because a lot of people had recommended it and said they had really good food. It is in a house in the Cooper young area. The house is really cute and well decorated. I went in, knowing what I want it, but I had saw they were sold out of burnt ends for the day. The girl who took my order recommended I get the mini Trinity, which was brisket, sausage and ribs. And you also got two sides. The side I chose wore the Texas Twinkie and the potato salad. Both of those were not as seasoned as I would like, but still OK. My ribs were so amazing falling off the bone tender and it paired well with the sauce and it was even good without the sauce. The jalapeño sausage was really underwhelming. I thought it was gonna be something different just really greasy. I was really excited for the brisket, but very disappointed. I don't know if I got the last bit of the brisket or an earlier batch but it wasn't fresh, it was lukewarm and really dry. Even the barbecue sauce couldn't save it and the barbecue sauce is really really good. I don't know if it was a bad day for the brisket, but I wouldn't recommend. It was an OK experience. Super disappointed at the terrible (probably racially driven) treatment my parents received at Bain barbecue. My parents are visiting Memphis as a quick weekend trip. I've heard Memphis bbq is second to none and recommended Bain barbecue based on the positive reviews I saw. When they arrived at the establishment, they were still unsure about what to order and let the customer behind them go ahead. They were impressed by the size and quality of meat cuts given to that customer. However when it was their turn, they received smaller burnt ends. When my mom mentioned the difference in quality and size, the woman serving them said "this is how it is, everyone has to get side pieces". Of note my parents are Asian immigrants, with obvious accents. When my mom went to ask the cashier the name of this staff member, and that's when the problematic woman shouted "I'm the owner. If you don't want to eat here, you can take your food and leave". I'm uncertain if this was blatant racism, but this is just bad business. Memphis is a common tourist destination, you're going to have customers from all walks of life. I do not recommend this place to anyone, especially for any fellow Asian tourists. Will avoid this place like the plague when we come back to Memphis! read more

OK, I'm a Texas boy and let me just say this is some of the best barbecue I have ever eaten! To be honest when I looked at the brisket cut and how it was cut I was not looking forward to it being very tender and it was so tender! If you're a Texan don't judge their brisket by the looks, wait till you eat it. The Texas Twinkie was really good. It was their thick cut highly peppered bacon that made it so good. Amazing! We were scrolling through TikTok videos and there were a number of reels that said this was the best so we gave it a try and they did not disappoint! We got a 2 meat and 2 sides (but she talked us into adding Turkey and I'm so glad she did- reminded me of a place back home that closed in my childhood and it was my favorite) My son inhaled his pulled pork, the ribs were amazing and my husband loved they asked if you wanted lean or fatty on the brisket. Amazing fresh potato salad and I'm watching my kid lick the bowl clean of the banana pudding. The staff is so kind and helpful, the house is awesome with plenty of space in each room. The go-to for me is the brisket, sausage sandwich - Texas style and the potato salad. The best seasoned and juciest brisket in the area! No need for sauce, but they do make two great sauces, if you want. Some weekends they have burnt ends and huge beef ribs. I have been to many bbq joints in Memphis area looking for some true Texas bbq and I have found a gem. Our family tried it today. I had the brisket, jalapeño cheese sausage and Texas Twinkie. Brisket melt in your mouth tender. My wife had the spare ribs and she raved about them. Macaroni and cheese was cheesy. From the pitmaster behind the counter slicing our brisket and the ladies taking our orders, it was a great experience. I went to Bain for the first time yesterday & like many others, it will not be my last. First was greeted by Heather with her lovely attitude & generous sample of the brisket. Yes, it is all that hype. After reviewing the menu, decided to get the slider sampler appetizer. You get one pork, one brisket & one turkey. There is plenty of meat on this to make a meal. After tasting the sample brisket, knew that was going to be amazing so this is why I chose the sampler. The turkey was juicy & flavorful. The pork was just as good. When I got to the table, there were three different types of sauces. I went straight for the hot & was not disappointed. Nice heat and the flavor complimented all of the meats. I didn't get a side, but did taste the pinto beans with brisket. I will be getting this next time. Yes, I HIGHLY recommend. I tried their brisket sandwich, the meat was pretty good, however the bread, a standard burger bun like the one you can get at any grocery store, that was a downer. Bread is 50% of any sandwich, and good quality meat like they have deserves a nice hoagie, or some other decent bread. The atmosphere is pretty nice, and service friendly. Three times there, three times out of 60%+ of the menu. This last time there was only 1-2 meats left and all the sides except for the chips and cole slaw were out. It was 12:30PM' I repeat only mid-lunch. Workers were absolutely indifferent towards everything to make matters worse, and it was clearly a heavily disorganized setup. WTF am is supposed to order? About the only positive to note here is that the parking is decent, there's great stuff around the neighborhood and it's close to a couple legitimate places that know how to manage their inventory better. We recently tried Bain's due to the hype they've been receiving on social media. We did place our order to-go, not that it should make a difference, but all of our meat tasted day old. The bbq sauce was really good itself, the potato salad was a little salty but was still good, the macaroni and cheese was good. But nothing tasted fresh. For the amount of food it was overpriced and the pulled pork sandwich was cold soggy and flavorless tasted like it was boiled no taste of smoke or seasoning at all took one bite and threw it away. Love that it feels like a "home" literally inside a house with bakery to the left on ground level and BBQ (after June) to the right. Kolaches were ok, good size but I'd recommend taking to go and reheating later. The egg/cheese was very plain and had no seasoning or flavor. I had the jumbo pork sandwich combo (sandwich and a side). The meat was pretty good, very tender, a little on the dry side but smoke flavor throughout with a good smoke ring. For a side, I had the brisket pinto beans. They are not what I am used to but still pretty good. Service was very fast. Your order is made right in front of you and passed to the cashier. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I would recommend this place if you want an alternative to "Memphis" BBQ. Bain BBQ and Bakery is next door to our church so I decided to try it on Friday. First, the bakery portion is open but the BBQ won't be available until summer. That was fine as I was there for coffee and breakfast. When you walk in you have to go to the back counter to order. A sign pointing that direction would have been helpful for a newbie. The person behind the counter was friendly and helpful (and so were the patrons). I had a black coffee and a sausage and cheese kolache. The coffee was good and the kolache was excellent. I should have got two! I enjoyed my breakfast on the patio, and watched people walk by. It was nice. The only reason I did not give 5 star review is later that day ( about 12:30pm) my wife went back to grab me a coffee. They had run out and didn't make any more so I had to go without. As a caffeine addict that is never a good thing. We will be back. I look forward to the BBQ, too. My only recommendation is that they keep fresh coffee ready while open. :-) read more

Went here for the brisket and was not disappointed. They actually let me try a slice before I bought any. It had great flavor and a nice bark. And as a real brisket eater would know you don't spoil it with sauce. If people want hotter brisket you can ruin it by heating it up and drying it out. But this brisket was served at a perfect temperature and melted in your mouth. The sides were good too. And you know a side can make or break a meal. I would say the food is priced accordingly as the portions are a decent size for sure. Would recommend this place for anyone looking to get good brisket cooked low and slow. read more
