We have had challenges with our heat pump every since it was installed. When we finally hired another provider to service it, they saw the installation was not done correctly which has resulted in many challenges, our handler burning out and it all needing to be redone. Worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. Water damage in our ceiling due to poor installation among other issues. Owner was rude and hostile. Told me I was a F-ing A-hole for asking them to fix numerous issues like the duct insulation. (See below) They told me the insulation in the photo below met code and they wouldn't fix it. We had a *disastrous* experience with Bainbridge Heating and Air. They installed a heating pump in violation code, without a permit, and didn't tell us they had done so. They ignored the manufacturers guidelines and installed the unit under a deck with insufficient airflow to support it, which caused such stress on the unit that it failed irreparably two years later. The unit required an additional $1K in repairs over the two years it worked due to their error. In the end, we had to work with an entirely new company to set up a new system. We lost over eight thousand dollars working with Bainbridge Heating and Air. They were incredibly sloppy in their installation. A few examples: 1) They set the unit up to simultaneously heat and cool the house, causing a $400 jump in our power bill for that first month (they did refund me, but begrudgingly). 2) Two times they failed to show for appointments, and didn't notify us they would not arrive. Just didn't show. 3) They installed the water output pipe for the unit by tying it to the ceiling with twine (literally, a thin piece of twine hung from a rafter), which caused the pipe to disconnect with the unit and flood our crawlspace. That's three off the top of my head, but there were many more. Honestly the worst experience I've ever had working with a local company. Working with them was a really costly error for us. If you are considering working with them, I can't warn you enough. Caveat emptor. read more

Curt came to my home and courteously walked me through the process of both units -- allowing me to observe his assessment of the 2 Daikin systems. I have used Bainbridge Heating before for furnace repairs and had outstanding service. I recently purchased a new furnace and water heater and installation. The crew is very courteous and easy to work with. However the water heater stopped working within a few days. They had installed a natural gas water heater but I use LP. When asked why they installed the wrong model, the answer was "we were shipped the wrong part". Seriously? The LP heater is clearly labeled as an LP water heater, how could they not have noticed? A couple of days later the furnace stopped working. It appears to be a problem with the door switch but since it is summer I can't run it to find out if the problem has been fixed. Bainbridge heating was responsive in trying to resolve the issues but the problems should not have occurred in the first place. read more

I could not be happier with the service that was provided. I woke up in the morning and the house was 55 degrees, I checked the heat pump and it was a solid block of ice. I called the company that serviced it last time and they said that they could fit me in next Tuesday. I called Bainbridge Heating and Air and told her my situation and she said that they were booked solid, but she would make sure that someone would come out at the end of the day, about 4:30. The OWNER showed up at 1:00 to diagnose what was wrong with the system. He tested the system and diagnosed a low refrigerant level, but it is an old system and uses an uncommon refrigerant, so he had to get some. He was back by the end of the day with the right refrigerant and my family had heat last night. He called this morning to see if everything was working well, and it is. They saw that I had an emergency, went out of thier way to help me, and did it in nice and professional manner. Next time they will be my first call! read more

And the owner Hung up on me but before he did bad mouthed the other company we were using to service it. He then called them liars and then when I called him on it. He said he never said that. I don't typically write reviews, but the service Bainbridge Heating provided went so far beyond the usual and expected that it demands to be recognized. Friday night before Thanksgiving 2020, our furnace failed and we had no heat. Won't bore you with the details, but 'other company' said our furnace needed a new control board and they weren't available anymore - in short, the furnace was dead and needed to be replaced. And Curt, at Bainbridge Heating, a company that does not currently service oil furnaces like ours, ended up saving the day. We had called Bainbridge Heating as a backup plan when 'other company' initially said they could not come out right away. They were local, friendly and helpful, and so we called them again to get an estimate for replacing the furnace. But Curt was certain we could get our unit repaired. He found the 'unavailable' part we needed, ordered it, and kept us up to date on the shipping status. He made sure we had space heaters to stay warm. And when the part arrived Curt hand-delivered it to our house, on his own time, after hours, and refused a tip for his services. Bainbridge Heating could have just gone through with our request for an estimate to replace the oil furnace we thought was dead, and even sold us a system we didn't yet need. My daughter recommended Bainbridge Heating & Air when I needed to have the 33-year old heat pump and furnace replaced. Two years ago, she and her hubby had Bainbridge Heating & Air install a heat pump and furnace in their 2 story home. She was very pleased with their dedication and work. I, too, and very impressed with the installers and their work ethic. They arrived a 10 am and left at 4:30 pm. No trash or other items were left; it was all cleaned up. I wanted to have a new heat pump installed in my house and started out with estimates from all the big name places (Costco, Home Depot, Lowes) and a few local places including Bainbridge Heating and Air. When the owner (Curt) came to do an estimate he was upfront about all of the work that needed to be done and didn't try to hide the cost with hidden discounts and rebates. When it was all said and done, the next closest bid was $500 more than what I paid to Bainbridge Heating and Air. The day of install went really well, the crew got to my house around 9 am and finished up around 4 pm so I experienced minimal downtime with my heat which is a bonus in December. They did come back the next day to install a filter they had forgot but this only took an hour at the most. The crew was very courteous and professional during the whole process and was able to answer all of the questions I had. They're even part of Kitsap County's Repower program which combined with some other energy upgrades I had done, got me another $400 rebate on top of the $1800 rebate I got from PSE for the heat pump. It's been 4 months now since I've had my system installed and I couldn't be happier. My house feels much warmer and I've seen on average a 30% reduction in my electricity costs. I'm not sure what happened in these negative reviews but I would highly recommend you give Bainbridge Heating and Air a call if you're looking into getting a new heating system. read more

Curt, the owner, gave us an estimate on a ductless heat pump that was way below other companies. He listened to what we wanted and agreed with us and explained why. He had a better idea to run refrigerant tubing under the house to the far room, which was a much better and cheaper idea than other companies had. The workers were very courteous and energetic. Each time the plan changed, they had solutions and asked what I wanted. There were some minor problems, which Curt and the crew worked through and addressed my concerns. I would have liked a little more education on operating it. I had a little bit of a learning curve the first couple of days but Curt explained what I was doing wrong. There isn't a lot of curb appeal to the refrigerant tubing between the outdoor unit and the cover or where they are run under the house to another room. I don't see that there is a good solution for that since the outdoor unit needs to be clear of obstacles to work correctly. The office manager was always on top of things, letting me know if there were any delays. read more

Called to install a smart thermostat and make sure they were familiar bc I couldn't figure it out. Curt showed, wasn't familiar with it and was pretty rude asking why I needed it and saying the unit I had propriety software and it wouldn't work. Wrong. He worked on it for about and hour and couldn't make it work. Said the thermostat was faulty. Wrong again. Left without fixing a thing, gave me a wrong diagnosis and billed me $278 bucks! YGBSM!? Tried to have them out for service and inspection for a home escrow. After explaining the issue I needed corrected in detail and scheduling an appointment they "no showed". Called them back and rescheduled the appointment for a week later. The day of the service the owner called and said he didn't have time for the work and would have to figure something else out because he didn't have time to perform the work I needed. My heater stopped working in my house last Tuesday. It kept tripping the breaker and wouldn't stay on. I had a coworker recommend Bainbridge Heating & Air. They raved about Curt and his work, professionalism, promptness and price. It turns out that my neighbor also uses him for their services often. I called Curt and he said that he was completely booked and couldn't get to me for 5 days (Monday). He decided to work on Saturday to help with his backlog of work. After checking the heater and not finding a problem there, he check the fuse box. He found that the screws holding the wiring breaker was very loose. He tightened it and the power stayed on!! Curt noticed that my gas fireplace was off and asked why I wasn't using it to heat the house. I explained that 3 years ago I paid almost $700 to a company that had to rig the fireplace because parts were unavailable. He said he would have a look and figured out a way for me to use the fireplace again! Then on the way out he helped correct a small issue with a GFI outlet. Curt was exactly as my friend described. Friendly (funny), very professional, more than prompt (he was two days early), and the price was right (trip charge plus minimum). I was expecting to pay for part on the heater and possibly wait. This was my first experience using Bainbridge Heating & Air. Based on my experience, I would recommend this company and will use them again when the occasion arises. Our service technician, Eric, arrived on time and was very friendly and professional. My issue was with the thermostat power going out and I had previously determined that the thermostat panel was receiving no power (it is a wired one, not battery-powered), but was unsure how to locate the source of the open circuit. Eric located the issue as a blown fuse within the furnace. While performing a tune-up on the furnace and heat pump, he discovered a bad fan cap, ODU contacter, and leaking schroder valve which he recommended replacing (each 14 years old). The quoted prices seemed reasonable and the work was completed quickly. I was very pleased with the service. read more

I bought a house 4 months ago in Oregon and needed to have the filters in my air cleaner replaced. The air cleaner is a Coleman unit, which you can not buy parts for directly from Coleman. Rather I had to go through a Coleman dealer. After calling 5 dealers (3 of whom never returned my call), Bainbridge Heating said they could help. Despite that this company only provides in home services, they went above and beyond and ordered the parts for me. Unfortunately I do not live on Bainbridge Island so I asked if they could also ship the filters to my house in Oregon. They were quick to respond to my calls and followed up with me on all the steps of the process. I am also happy to report, that despite these hard to find air filters, when I received the package in the mail they were the correct filters. read more

Do not trust this company to safely install anything in your home. We hired this company to install a gas dryer line to our existing natural gas line. They came out and installed the line. However, we could smell gas coming out of the installation. We called the company back out to take a look. They said that everything looked fine and that the smell of gas was "normal". Obviously, the smell of gas is not normal. So we ended up calling the gas compay to come take a look. They informed us that not only do we have a leak, but the installation is not up to code. We called the company back to solve the problem. They agreed; however, when I spoke with the owner about the problem he was extremely rude and disrespectful. He attempted to weasel his way out of honoring our warrenty and lied about coming out to check the leak (our records indicate that a different employee came for the leek). I was very disappointed with his lack of professionalism and his blatent disregard for my family's safety. Do not hire this company. They are not experts in the field and cannot be trusted to do a good job. Save yourself the time, hassel, and worry. read more

Had these guys try and replace a water heater. Left them with job to finish as I headed out of town with their assurance all would be completed. Got call from my teenager that night, no hot water. Called and left a mad message on their voice mail and then talked my teenager through how to look at job and find problem, found water off at heater, turned on and it worked. When I got home days later to look at job found water gushing from loose fittings, earthquake strapping attached with a sheet metal screw to the adjacent furnace and later found that they had never gotten a permit nor had job inspected, need I say more? Called to complain, owner said job had gone to @#$% and would call back sometime to fix then hung up on me, never called back, done forever with these guys, need say more? read more

I had owner Curt come to both my house and office for inspection and repairs within the past couple of weeks. I had originally installed a heat pump at my house back in the spring of 2012 and a natural gas furnace in my office around the same time. When the bill came outlining the repair of my heat pump it caught me off guard and i was upset. I definitely let Curt know about it in an angry email. Curt was patient enough to call me and we discussed it through what was wrong, what needed to be done and what steps he took to correct the problem. I paid my bill. We had another disagreement about a charge for services on an inspection at my office when the switch to the natural gas was lockup in between tenants. I sent yet another nastygram email, but once again Curt and I had a discussion and resolved the issue. He did not have to eliminate the bill, but he did anyways as a matter of good will My point in issuing this 5 star review is not all business owners would take the time to discuss the bill patiently and thoroughly. A furnace and heat pump are important investments. I had not really maintained either one of them for 7 years so like cars sooner or later they start experiencing problems and act up. I feel like I am back on track now and everything works. I thank Curt for letting me vent and talking things through to resolution. I highly recommend his services. I would steer clear of this company, they may come in low bid, but remember, "You get what you pay for" My landlord used this company to install a heat pump in my house and his own. When my heat went out, they were called for the warranty work. I am now 32 days out and still without heat. They have been rude, and unprofessional. They come early, late or not at all. They sent the wrong part, the part failed. It is too cold to work out here, it is too wet to work out here, I've heard it all. We live in Washington, go to the job site prepared. I normally don't write reviews, but decided that this company deserved one. I had 4 different company's come by and give me bids to remove my baseboard heaters and install a furnace and ducts. I couldn't believe how expensive all the quotes were. I attended a get together last month and was talking to an old friend that moved to Bainbridge Island. He told me that he had a new heat pump installed last year, and that I should call Bainbridge Heating and Air. Even though their normal area to operate in, isn't the Seattle area, I talked to the owner, Curt, and he agreed to come by and look at my situation. What a pleasant gentleman. Curt, the owner, showed up on time, listened to my thoughts on what I was interested in and I told him how much work and the amount of time the others had told me I was to look forward to. After walking through and around my home, he looked at me and said, " this would be a perfect place for a ductless heat pump" I said, "whats that"? I'd never heard of it. He explained what was involved and that it would only take one day for the installation. As an added bonus, I get cold air in the summer. I didn't have that option with an electric furnace in my garage. There's no gas on my street. He saved me thousands! Thanks Curt for bringing up the ductless unit and not trying to take advantage of me for duct work I didn't need. His workers showed up when expected, were pleasant, and did a beautiful job.
