The estimate came in at a good and fair cost... but I was really assured by Pat's knowledge and game plan for the repair. Green Lake scheduled the repair within a week. The day of, the electrician was right on time and started the work right away... I left for the day and when I returned the job was done with solid work and looked sound. The inspector came out and nitpicked two things that were minor fixes... so I emailed Green Lake the inspection report and photos and they sent someone out to do the fixes. Unfortunately, they forgot to do one of the two fixes... but I emailed again... and they came out for a third time to get the job right. Stand up work for a solid price. Thanks Green Lake.

I contacted Linder to replace my home electrical panel so that I could add two EV plugs in my…read moregarage and prepare for a heat pump and heat pump water heater that would soon follow the project. The bulk of the install process was great and professional. The project hit a snag at the very end when I noticed that the second EV plug was 120 instead of 240. I was told that the panel that was selected wouldn't work with a second EV plug or with the the heat pump devices that were going to come next. That was a shock! I had wondered about this before we started the project. I asked if a higher-amperage panel was required. I was told "that's a big deal and will cost you $20k." There was never a statement that the panel we were going with wasn't going to cover the stated project goals. After the project, I called PSE to get a better understanding of the service they offer to my home. They told me I had been given bad advice and that they could deliver whatever amperage I needed without trouble. The new panel that was installed was 125 amp. PSE told me that they guarantee 200 amps to the home, per WA law. They also said that I ALREADY had 200 amp to my home, so clearly no requirement to pay $20k to get it. I reached back out to Linder with the new information. I proposed installing a higher amperage panel and that I'd pay the bulk of the cost but wanted some discount because I didn't feel like this poor outcome was entirely my fault. They told me that they "don't do work for free", even though I wasn't asking for that. They told me go to talk to Bel-Red Electric if I wanted the issue fixed. That was another shock. I thought that the relationship had gone pretty smoothly up until that point. I guess they had booked a good profit on my project and didn't want to give that up. In any case, I think it is good advice to go talk to Bel-Red electric. I will go do that and explain that I need help in right-sizing my new panel for my project goals. In summary, I have no reason to question the quality of the work at Linder. The install looked super clean and was done quickly. A friend had recommended Linder. He is super handy and would have never got into this problem. He would have calculated his amperage requirements before even calling an electrical company. I don't know much about electrical and was expecting guidance from Linder on how to proceed per my stated project goals. In fact, I asked them about this later. They told me that I negotiated too hard on price and so a 125 amp panel was the only option at that price. That's a really strange way to do business. The panel upgrade cost $7k. Is that a lot for a 125 amp panel? So, if you need help navigating your project and are not too familiar with electrical, you might look elsewhere or end up with the same outcome as I did. I'm just a regular home owner like a lot of people.

He corrected it all, including running new lines from the breaker box, through the garage, through the crawlspace, into the lower floor, and up into the upper floor. He was careful, thorough, and focused on making sure everything was done correctly and well. He had to make a few holes in walls and ceilings, but he thought ahead to minimize the work of the handyman who would follow and fix everything. Plus, Matt is just a very nice guy. When it was done, the city inspector came out to give permits, and he was very impressed with the quality of Matt's work. That was very encouraging to hear! I will continue to use Linder for any electrical work that may come up in the future.

I also wanted three existing outdoor sconce lights replaces and one additional sconce light added. Furthermore we needs a garage outlet punched in from the adjacent room. Aces came out to see the scope of the job and had some suggestions on placement closer to the breaker box as it would be cheaper not to run the power line to where we wanted the unit. Also suggested a hardwired E/V charger rather than plug in, as a safer and cheaper route. He returned the day after our E/V unit was delivered and finished the entire project, E/V install, sconce lights and new outlet, within 3 hours. And the cost was under his original estimate. Not only would I call on him again, I did. We needed a second outlet in the garage for out Trimlights. He arrived 2 days before the Trimlight installers and completed the job in a few minutes. Fantastic work!

After a couple of months of this issue, I emailed Jerry (Denise seems to manage the work orders and his schedule). Jerry showed up within the day to check his work, but didn't have the part that would replace a potentially faulty breaker. The next day Denise (his wife) communicated Jerry could come by with the proper part from Home Depot, but wouldn't be responsible for installing a bad part and thus a minimum charge of $250 for an hour of labor would be required to fix it. Our question was why are we financially responsible when it's not our fault a faulty part was installed? Denise became increasingly unprofessional and insulting when asked "Where did I buy the circuit breaker from?" She responded "That's what troubleshooting is" "I've wasted my whole morning discussing this" "we're so busy, we have so many customers" and thus my customer status doesn't much matter to them (in saying as much). So troubleshooting their bad parts on my dime is an acceptable business practice. Jerry is very calm and he is professional himself. It is not worth paying for a product that fails when they decide which parts to use and say their labor is warranteed forever. There's no warranty at all in that business practice. If I bought a car and the starter broke within 6 months and the warranty was bumper to bumper, they wouldn't tell me it's not their fault the manufacturer made a bad part. Why is it okay here? Bottom line, $2000 later and replacing THEaifaulty circuit breaker wasn't worth it to them to keep us as a customer. Jerry, where are you addressing any of what I said in my review with your response? Bottom line is the warranty is useless and Denise is unprofessional and disrespectful.
