Overall this place is good but I've had better Thai food outside. I think the portion size is good, overall texture is good, our food came on time, but there was something missing. We went during a long weekend with amazing weather, so naturally Bainbridge was a busy place. We came across this restaurant and despite how busy they were, we were seated fairly quickly. Our orders were taken efficiently and we loved the service! The food was also very good and compared to similar restaurants in Seattle, I feel like the quality was great, if not better. I can't recall the name of the lady who was running the place, but she was an absolute sweetheart and despite being so busy, she took the time to check in on us multiple times. Also the views from the restaurant are unbeatable. Will be going back during my next Bainbridge trip!!! I think people forget they are visiting a place with a relatively low population as compared to Seattle and expect the service to be just as fast. The Thai food is made palatable for un-adventuresome, white-bread loving types, which is often just fine. When you ask for "less spicy" you are asking to distort the true nature of Thai food so you get something that's not banging with spice on the lips. Consider the majority of the clientele from Bainbridge Island which tends to be older year round residents...they will be fine with blander versions of Thai. I was shocked that they didn't offer the typical condiments I've had in other Thai restaurants with small green chillies in vinegar, and spicy red flakes in hot oil. If you want spicy, bring your own hot sauce! On the other hand, there is no other restaurant that is waterside with such quiet relaxing views of the boats docked in the harbor so I would say why skip the view?? Don't miss this view, and eat hot Thai food elsewhere. Just enjoy the beer and medium priced cocktails and the less than banging Thai plates. It's another representation of their cuisine. Service was very sweet as well. Not a bad spot to bring visitors to the island. Not a bad spot to relax by the water with some dinner on a summer evening! We were able to eat lunch here and I must say this was the best restaurant I had eaten in Washington given I have just been around downtown Seattle. The food was pretty bland, but I personally don't mind it being bland as long as there's a good amount of seasoning and there was. The noodles from the pad Thai were a little bit harder, but my mom said that's the texture it's supposed to be, but I'm not quite sure. The pad see ew was a little lacking in seasoning. The noodles were a bit too soft, but we're still good. The salad from the pad Thai was so delicious. I wish I had more. The server was a sweet lady. The food was alright. The Pad Thai was fairly seasoned and the portions look small but were quite filling. The Thai iced tea was alright, nothing to really write home about. Some of the better Thai on the Island. We've been a few times. The first time, we actually arrived by kayak, and climbed up to the restaurant from the harbor! All that kayaking and climbing made us hungry! The last time, we walked in like normal patrons. I like the friendliness of the staff, especially of the owner, Teddy. He's been running the place for nearly 30 years (although that sadly may be coming to an end soon). We're always greeted with a smile and seated promptly. Likewise, our orders are taken equally promptly. They have great views of the harbor from throughout the restaurant, and nice seating outdoors when the weather is better. This last time, my girlfriend ordered the Cashew Tofu (substituting tofu for the chicken that usually comes with the meal) and I ordered the Panang Tofu (again, same substitution). We ordered the dishes at 3 on the spice scale of 1-5, so that we could share. But since I like my Thai food really spicy, they brought a bowl of peppers I could augment my servings with. Yum! A friend of ours who was with us ordered the Shrimp and Chicken Stir-fry, which she raved about. Her dish was huge and she had a lot to take home as leftovers. All three of us ordered margaritas. They actually have decent margaritas at Bainbridge Thai, I think better than some of the Mexican restaurants in the area. Other cocktails as well. Sauce flavors were solid, they had a unique spicy sweet chili paste that was good. The prices are actually cheap/reasonable. It's hard to get an entree for $15-16 these days imo. The combo appetizer had the best deep fried shrimp ever! My husband, son and I agreed on that. The Bainbridge fried rice was a meal in itself and each bite was filled with a variety of flavors. We all loved the chicken satay and my husband was delighted with his beef phad thai. I really wanted to like this place. It's very cute inside. Dining room decorated with candles and flowers, overlooking the water. Very welcoming. And the place has been there forever, and the owner is around and very nice and welcoming too. But the food was bad. Like really bad. For example: Fresh rolls. Typically, those are stuffed with various veggies, glad noodles, and shrimp. These were stuffed with just shredded cabbage. No noodles, no flavor, just crunch from the cabbage. Chicken was so dry, over-dredged in coating, and just not good. I really wish I could give this more stars and have a nice spot on the island. Alas, this one is not it. read more

Our best advice would be Don't Eat Here! Seriously though two of our group ordered and ate the Fried Calamari and were up all night visiting the bathroom with extreme lower digestive distress. The Chicken Satay was the only dish that shined. The vegetables were either mushy or raw. Tom Kha w/shrimp was passable but lacked flavor. Pad Thai was a mound of glutinous, flavorless? The water came lukewarm and in scratched plastic cups, dirty table, windowsill, floor and restroom needed a good cleaning. The Staff and Chef were very nice folks but didn't care or remedy our complaint that the Calamari tasted off, didn't refill the water and didn't have ice either. The view was beautiful. This little Thai restaurant tucked away on the marine edge of Bainbridge Island was the highlight of my entire Seattle trip. Tons of seating overlooking the marine and super fast and friendly service. The crab Rangoon with real Dungeness crab was very delicious you could taste the real crab meat in each bite. The pad see eww was piping fresh and super chewy flat noodles (one of the best i've had!) the family and servers were all super friendly and service was fast. Better than I remembered. As other reviewers have noted, their Pad Thai has more of a "ketchup-y" taste than the other two major Thai restaurants on the island, which may or may not be a bad thing to you - I thought it was surprisingly decent on a revisit. Appetizers (satay, spring rolls, wontons) also pretty solid, I liked their dipping sauces. Caesar salad was surprisingly ok, I liked the peanut topping. I don't really love the vibes of their dining area but they do have big windows with a view of the harbor and you get a lot of natural light - far cry from a typical "hole in the wall" restaurant. Doesn't feel exactly as upscale as it seems like it's trying to appear, but it's not bad. Some locals I know swear by the place, it's definitely notable for being convenient to get to from downtown/by foot, being relatively inexpensive (for both Thai and restaurant food in general on the island) and being one of the lucky few restaurants to have a half-decent view of the water. Their presentation is decent as well, it really just comes down to the taste of the food for me, which is pretty much personal preference. If you love their food, all the more power to you - certainly more cost-effective than going for Sawan or Sawadty's. IMO - not worth going out of your way for, but if you're in downtown Bainbridge, looking for lunch and Thai sounds good, go for it - you aren't going to find many comparable sit-down places in the neighborhood without spending probably about twice as much. read more

Stumbled upon this somewhat hidden thai restaurant on a rainy day in bainbridge and were so glad we did. I thought it was going to be a small restaurant when we walked in, but they a lovely space in the back with massive windows that outlook the water and boats! We ordered Garlic chicken wings, crab cheese wontons, Chicken and beef pad thai, beef fried rice, yellow curry, and massaman curry. The appetizers were ok, I found the garlic chicken wings to be a little to salty and wish the crab cheese wontons would have had a better crab to cream cheese ratio. The entrees on the other hand were fabulous! The pad thai was delicious and had lots of flavor and veggies that elevated the flavor. The fried rice had a nice char and tasted great. I liked the massaman curry over the yellow because it has more of a peanut flavor but I like the yellow curry as well. The service is great and the owner and staff are very warm and attentive. This was interesting Thai food. I'm not sure how many stars to rate this place as the dishes we ordered varied in quality and flavor for me. I'll start with 4 stars as I'm sure we will be back to order curry again. The Green Curry and Red Curry were delicious. Good flavor and spice. Not used to the use of all the fresh vegetables in it, but it worked. Vegetables were not overcooked and hearty portion. I was hoping for eggplant that I'm used to in Green Curry, but not a deal breaker. The Pad Thai, on the other hand, we will not be ordering again. Not sure if it was a fluke as I know they were very busy the night we ordered, but it tasted like boiled noodles slathered with ketchup. I've had Thai food from all over and I've never had it so overwhelmingly taste like ketchup. I looked up the recipe for Pad Thai and learned sometimes a few tablespoons of ketchup can substitute if tamarind is unavailable, but it tasted like someone went really heavy on the ketchup. I would suggest maybe sending someone out for some tamarind or watching the measurements. We couldn't eat it! The Thai Iced Tea was pretty sweet, but aren't most Thai Iced Teas out there. I may be a bit weird, but I add some water to even it out to my liking :) We were informed the order would be ready in 30 minutes. We arrived at exactly 30 min, but the food wasn't ready. We had to wait in the parking lot for an additional 30 min. They knew they were busy so letting us know it would take 45-60 minutes realistically would've been nice. We eaten here a number of times and enjoyed it. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and nice views, a short walk from our home. However, diner last night was not a good experience nor was the food very good. We were really disappointed. The service was poor, not the server's fault but clearly the organization of the kitchen or whether they really cared or not. the restaurant was not busy for a Saturday evening. We arrived about 7 pm, ordered and waited as all the other guests finished their meals while we waited for ours to be served, waiting a long time. Upon asking the status of our meals we were told 'they are being made now'. Hmmm. Finally, came my wife's peanut sauce side dish. Then a bit later her white rice. It was cold. Then my dish a few minutes after. It looked a congealed mess, and we continued to wait for her dish to be served. Finally it came. My dish was approaching cold by this time. We dived in none-the-less. No spice, though we'd ordered "two stars". Bland, unappetizing flavors and the sauce was sticky and unsavory. When we were almost done, last people in the restaurant, my brown rice side came. We felt like we're at a progressive dinner. With food partially finished we asked for the check and left disappointed at best. Then came the reactions from our meals. Not good. We've eaten at this place 6-8 times over the last three years. The last several times the trend for food and service has been down hill. Who ever runs the place needs to shake things up and manage the place back to where it was for food and service several years ago. When we left the restaurant there was no good night greeting or thank you though staff clearly watched us leave. Too busy checking Instagram, we think. May or may not return in the future. I have been to the restaurant 2 times (both at lunch) and I have had decent experiences. The food is amazing and the best pad Thai I've ever had. The service could use work. When we first arrived we had to ask the waitress to wipe down the table we were seated at because it was still dirty which was odd because we were the only ones there. After we were served our food our server never came back to check on us. This happened both times we came and we had to pay at the front because we couldn't get our check. We also never got refills on our drinks and there was no server to ask for one either. In conclusion, I would recommend for the food and hopefully the service can improve. read more

My boyfriend and I both ordered medium spicy (albeit for different dishes), and his was spicy while mine not at all. Still tasted delicious so I wasn't fussed. Service was quick and friendly. I was going on Yelp to find dog friendly restaurants in the area and was surprised to find out that Bainbridge doesn't follow what Seattle has for that. This was the only one we could find for a late lunch on a Sunday. Glad we stopped in. The food was great, the patio area for my dog, friend, and I was perfect along the water and the service was excellent! This was a surprise as we were trying to eat at the restaurant across from them as Yelp said it was dog friendly and it was not.
