Just wow. We discovered a local gem that is "Baja Fish Tacos" due to a friends high recommendation of this restaurant. We got the combo, basically an item (we picked burrito) with rice and beans, and also ordered a hard shell, potato taco. Each dish was bursting with flavor and the hot sauces tasted amazing. Their crema was an add-on since it doesn't come in the burrito but I loved having it to include with both dishes we tried- highly recommend. They sampled some poke near the cash register and to me it didn't taste too fresh/and it was sitting on a tray (no ice) for not sure how long, but glad they were sampling something? This is the only Baja Fish tacos I've been to, and honestly I think the food is just okay. I think Rubio's is much more flavorful, but unfortunately most of them have closed in the area. Shrimp tacos were pretty bland, and if I didn't have the salsas and tapatio the whole plate including rice and beans would've been bland. The chips and salsa was the best part of the meal. I haven't done a Yelp review in FOREVER. I still blame Covid as it stopped the habit of me checking in, uploading images, and writing reviews. However, my boyfriend, youngest daughter, and I were first time customers here tonight. I immediately liked the vibe and decor upon entry and fell in love with the menu choices. We ended up all ordering the Shrimp Taquitos. I got mine with rice and black beans, the boyfriend chose rice and pinto, while my kid did a la cart. She also chose the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Everything was priced reasonably, was temperature perfect, great presentation, and tasted great. I'm extremely disappointed that blackened chicken was removed from the menu while blackened fish is still offered. There is no logical or customer-focused reason to eliminate one option and keep the other, especially when blackened chicken was a popular and versatile choice. Removing it limits options for guests who don't eat fish and shows a lack of consideration for customer preferences. If blackened fish can remain, blackened chicken should as well. This decision feels arbitrary and out of touch with what customers actually want. I used to come here at least twice a week and now I will not. read more

Delicious tacos and plates. Large space, good for families. There were lots of people there, even on weeknights. Plenty of parking. We ordered takeout, and the food was prepared quickly and accurately. The only thing that I wish was different was make pricing a bit clearer. I paid quite a bit more than expected because they changed their pricing on several items, but all the menus I found online didn't reflect that. With that said, I thought the food was fresh and tasty, so I'd definitely return when I am in the area again. This place was just close by where we were staying. This is not the most authentic Mexican food but pretty healthy. I had they fish combo platter with Ensenada style, the fish was very lightly battered, it was not greasy at all when I pick it up and the batter was supper crispy and not salty! They have a condiment bar that you can get your own condiments with small little containers provided. Even paper bags for to go! Service was good and place was clean. i was running errands in this shopping center and was getting hypoglycemic and thought ok im hungry. i felt their menu was pretty basic. kinda reminded me of rubios. i wanted to try the shrimp tacos but didnt wanna pay $8 a taco! wtf is this nobu?! i decide on the 2 fish tacos. $10 ok whatever. the food was extremely hot which was fine. tasted fresh and healthy but it was pretty basic and generic. reminded me of the mcdonalds fish filet lol. worker was nice and helpful. when i was waiting for my food music was loud and obnoxious. We arrived just before the lunch rush (12:00) this place fills up pretty quickly with people on their breaks. I ordered a 2 taco combo, ( carne asada, Baja fish) and a quesadilla for my girls to share. The steak is so good and tender and the baja fish to me tastes more like chicken but it's still delicious. My kids quesadilla Came with a small thing of guac and sour cream. It was huge enough that we shared with my girlfriends little girl as well! The portions here are generous, which is nice since this place can add up quickly with certain menu items$$. Was able to share the rice and beans too! My friend got the tortilla soup, we thought it would be tomato based but it was really just chicken broth and full of veggies but something was lacking with it flavor wise. The restaurant is clean and the order takers are patient and helpful. They drop your food off at the table once they give you a number. Service is always good, they are fairly quick, and the presentation is better than your average takeout- casual dining. It's generally very consistent so I rarely have those visits where i think back, it was just ok.... Favorite items (for the portion, taste, and price) are the Baja bowl with blackened fish and the enchilada combo (generous size enchiladas). W/ Pinto beans. I love the rice, it almost always has that nice buttery taste (though I've noticed some differences in that side from time to time). Just moved to the area and I have always seen this place packed. Thought it would be nice to try it out and ordered Asada Nachos and Fish Ceviche to go. I brought the order home and there were chips and cheese. There's less than a dozen whole beans across the platter. No meat. Guac and sour cream did come on the side. So at least there was that for the $14.50 nachos. The ceviche for being $12.00 was very sparingly served and definitely not an amount worth $12.00. Maybe if you eat in, you'll get better service and get what you paid for. If you're ordering out, check your order. With the rise of food cost and the cost of everything going up, weigh your options carefully. After taxes, the two items came out to be just over $28.00. Baja Fish Tacos never disappoints me. The Brea staff is always so nice and my food has always been consistently delicious! I usually get the one or two fish taco combo (depending on how hungry I am). I've had the blackened fish and grilled fish tacos. I believe there's also a fried fish taco but I haven't tried that yet. Their rice is buttery and their beans have great flavor. They just opened up their salsa bar again. It had gone away for some time because of COVID safety protocols. I love their green salsa and pickled onions but they also have red salsa, cilantro, chiles, and limes. Sometimes I'll order their chips and green salsa, and they are very generous with the amount of salsa they give you and I end up taking it home to use on my other food. My go to for drink is the bottled Topo Chico but they also have soda and a selection of beer as well. read more

The food is serviceable and fresh. But what's most interesting to me about this restaurant is that management created an amazing outdoor dining patio that is not only lit, but has embedded fans! A group of us split a ginormous plate of nachos for something like $11 but it felt super classy and relaxing just from the environment alone. There were two registers, but the one to the left had phone order pick up sign, so I got in that line. There was 1 person ahead of me ordering, The cashier to the right walked away after he finished with his customers. After he walked away, then the lady cash register in my line, walked away to call out name for other order. Another customer walked up and showed her his phone for online order, and she helped him while I was still standing there. There were three people there but I was invisible the whole time. Been going to Baja for over 12+ years from Costa Mesa. Moved closer to Brea so been going here. Giving them a 3 although I love their food usually for the change in chips. Thought last time I had a bad batch of chips so ordered them again and called this time since it was the same and wondered what's up with the chips. Not like the original at all and definitely don't like them. Please go back to the original recipe you've had for many years! Won't be ordering chips anymore. Just really loved the original.
