I'm always looking for a good taqueria that has some quality tacos and maybe burritos. I especially like when they offer some good pastor and more exotic fare like goat, lengua, and buche. Sadly, Cazuelas didn't have any of the last three on the menu. But they did have some pretty fantastic pastor, carnitas, and chile verde pork. As you can tell, I always steer towards pork when we're talking common meats and Cazuelas really hooked me up in this department. I've ordered a similar taco plate at other places and I like to call Three Little Pigs. The only blemish is that this taco joint doesn't have a fountain drink and I couldn't enjoy my meal as much. I like it when places give the patrons the option of free refills on sodas and not so much when they only offer bottle service. The server was super cool, answering questions about the menu and the business. He even asked how I was enjoying the tacos, which you normally don't get at a fast casual restaurant. The dining room was kind of small and I could see it when it gets busy maybe the space becoming rather claustrophobic. My time there was pretty serene though so I felt kind of relaxed. I did see some outdoor tables for those who are inclined to take their meals among the sun and the air (and the heat and the bugs). I really like this restaurant. And maybe if and when they get some fountain service there I could see making it a regular stop. But I know myself and running out of drinks halfway through the meal and debating buying another bottle is a whole other headache I don't like to deal with when eating. read more

I really wanted to love this taco spot. I first heard of this hole in the wall from IG. It really is super small, 3 small tables in the dining space with two seats each. We ordered two tacos of carne asada which were ok, a horchata which they didn't have, chips and guacamole which they ran out of guacamole and then a combo plate with carne de puerco con chile verde. Chile verde had great flavor and tortillas were amazing, the rice and beans that came with this combo were not great. The rice was flavorless and the beans were hard. I really wanted to love this place. I'd been seeing their IG posts and thought, "Finally, something like Guisados near me." (If you haven't tried Guisados in LA, you're missing out. The Boyle Heights location is the OG and the best location.) But I digress. This spot didn't just fall short of Guisados, it just wasn't good, period. The food lacked flavor, the tortillas were stale and dry, the tacos came out cold and the overall experience didn't help. I came for some tacos but I saw they had a new blue fin tuna aguachile on their menu so I had to try that out as well. Tacos were all loaded up with meat and fresh guac. They were around $4-$5 each. Asada was my fave. Blue Fin Aguachile was around $18. It was fireee, super fresh tuna and avocado, had some chiltepin on top + the aguachile that gave it a lil kick but it wasnt spicy. 9.5/10 in my opinion. Horchata was more cinamony than what im used to but I actually enjoyed it. Parking was also easy to find nearby & service was great. Chill guy up front. Nice little spot in downtown Brea. We always have the Mulita & Tacos with carne asada. Flavor is good. Portion sizes are nice too. Restaurant is fairly small so bear that in mind if you have a larger party. Inside is always clean and tidy. Service is good, employees are nice and helpful with explaining the menu. read more

Checked out Cazuelas Taqueria after hearing about it and was excited to give it a try. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the staff was friendly throughout my visit. I ordered the Jamaica and agua de pepino, which were both refreshing and tasted homemade. For food, I tried the asada, chicken, and chorizo tacos. The asada stood out as my favorite, while the other two were solid options as well. To finish, I had the shrimp cocktail, which I really enjoyed thanks to the fresh shrimp and flavorful sauce. Cazuelas Taqueria has been open for only two weeks and I found them on Yelp the other day. I was sad to see Bread Breakers Deli go but I was also excited to see this new Taqueria open up! There are a lot of Mexican restaurants around but not many that sell this particular style around. As soon as I entered, the man working in the front immediately welcomed me in. He answered every question I had regarding what he recommended and what the best sellers were including the ingredients inside. Here's what I ordered: **Cochinita Pibil Taco: The man recommended this particular meat so I went with it. I loved the tangy flavor from the orange. The meat was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The addition of pickled onions gave it a great balance of flavor. Fresh lime juice plus some salsa gave it the perfect flavor. (5/5) **2 Guisados Combo (Bistec Ranchero Con Papa & Chile Verde): Both of the meats I went with were perfect. The meat was so tender and perfectly prepared. They both had so much flavor and wasn't salty at all. The beans were good and the rice was very light, yet very delicious. The handmade corn tortillas were spectacular. (5/5) **Jamaica: Not my favorite batch of Jamaica but still very refreshing. It was more sweet than tart but it still tasted very authentic. (4/5) The man offered to refill my Jamaica if I wanted to drink some while my food waited for no extra cost which is always nice. I opted to get one red and one green salsa. Both salsas had a nice kick of spice and were both very delicious! Very nice staff and good portions for what you pay. Definitely coming back! Got the 5 mini taco sampler and everything was delish. Also got the chicken mole al a carte and was not disappointed. These are not your typical taco. They are handmade from scratch. If you want cheap street tacos, this is not the move. If you've seen the Taco Chronicles on Netflix, guisados are what you're getting here. The meats are slow cooked almost to a stew consistency, and so delicious. They have a butcher shop down the street, so you know all their meats are top notch. Real and I mean Real Mexican food! Guisados is what we eat in Mexican homes. There is a spot off the road on the way to Tonaya Jalisco México going from Guadalajara that I always stop and eat guisados. And this place reminded me of it. Here they can put the guisado that you want in a taco or plate( I recommend in a plate) I had the steak with papas and rajas con queso! Very good! My wife and daughter had the 7 guisados in small tacos and all were a 10! The salsa( for us is chile) was spicy like it's supposed to be! You can easily miss this restaurant but it's a hidden gem! I was recommended to try this spot out and I am so glad I did. I had high hopes for this place, especially after seeing it on Instagram. The staff was friendly, but unfortunately my overall experience was disappointing. I arrived about 20 minutes before their posted opening time, and one of the workers told me to come back in an hour because they weren't ready to open. When I returned, I ordered the 7-taco sampler along with chips and guacamole and an agua de horchata. I was then told that several items on the menu were unavailable--no chips and guacamole and no horchata. When my plate arrived, the tacos were cold and several of the guisos had been substituted without letting me know ahead of time. They didn't have the rajas con queso, mole, or papas con soyrizo, so they either substituted with other guisos or duplicated some. I would have appreciated being told this upfront; had I known, I would have chosen something else, like a burrito, or possibly not ordered at all. I waited about 30 minutes for the tacos, and they arrived without salsa. Most were very plain--some were warm, others cold. One taco that was supposed to have salsa verde only had sauce and fatty pieces, with no actual meat. I was told the long wait was likely due to them making tortillas, which I understand, but the quality still didn't reflect the wait time. When I asked about the missing tacos/guisos, they explained they had substituted what they didn't have. I shared that I would have appreciated transparency when placing my order so I could decide how to proceed. I was told that since it was Monday and they were just starting the week, they weren't fully stocked. I think staff is nice but better communication and consistency with the menu would go a long way in improving the customer experience. The place itself is small but it seems like they have made. I prefer this spot over nearby Tacomasa, despite some inconsistencies. The burritos have distinct flavor profiles thanks to their traditional stews, and several options are unique or not as commonly found at other taquerias. The handmade tortillas are also a nice touch, and their salsa game is on point. My usual go-to is the "3 for $20" burrito deal, and I rotate between: -Chicken mole -Beef cheek in salsa verde -Chicharron in salsa roja -Bistec ranchero con papa My only minor gripe is that it's still unclear whether you can upgrade a standard burrito to a premium option like carne asada (excellent) for an extra charge. Sometimes they allow it, whether I order in person or by phone, and other times they don't. I'm unsure what the actual policy is. Overall, one of my favorite local lunch spots that's reasonably priced in today's economy. I went with my husband about a month ago and we each tried the taco sampler and loved it so I came back with my coworkers after I had raved about it. We were disappointed to find that they completely changed the menu and no longer offer many items including the sampler which is fine however they are actively still promoting these items on their Instagram page so I posted a comment on that very post questioning why they are advertising this if they no longer serve it and all they did was delete my comment. They also still have pictures all over their windows of items they no longer sell. Despite this my coworkers and I still decided to eat there to give them a shot but the service was incredibly slow. The cashier could not get our orders right and brought out the agua frescas after we were practically done eating our food. The whole experience was very disappointing and very evident they do not care about their customers. It is unfortunate as we all work in the foodservice industry and really wanted to support this place as we know how difficult the restaurant industry can be but unfortunately we will not be coming back. read more

Tastes like home cooking, have never had their tacos but on the first bite you will get nostalgic for good home cooking. This is the place to be if you missed good home cooking! Very disappointed, as I was expecting better tasting tacos. My son and I gave this place a chance, and it ended in not even finishing the food. The meat had lots of fat in it, unfortunately since it was its guisado juices two of taco tortillas instantly fell apart. Food is over priced just for small tacos. Spent $7 for a catne asada taco and the meat was chewy and no flavor. The quesadilla barely had any cheese in it. In total $65 for tacos and quesadilla, was not worth it. I've had better tacos elsewhere, gourmet style for less. I will say that the two employee crew were nice and did their best to help, as it was very busy night. read more

Cazuelas means casserole so all the various meats and fillings here are premade but fresh. Your choice of these is the main ingredient in the tacos, burritos and quesadillas. You can also try a small or large sampler of several of them to see what you like. Today I tried in the chili Colorado in a burrito. The burrito looks small but it is filling because it's almost all meat with some beans and rice included. The gray tortilla looks uncooked but that just because we are used to store bought, bright white flour tortillas with the brown spots. This is a gray flour tortilla that seems homemade. It adds something to the burrito. The chili Colorado was shredded beef in a red sauce that is only slightly spicy. Most chili colorados are chunks of beef but I like this shredded version better because it contains zero surprises (chunks of fat, gristle, etc) and the meat is uniformly cooked perfectly. It is not dry shreds of beef in a red sauce but instead shredded beef that is in union with the bright red sauce. Really good! It will be hard to order a different meat when I return but they have so many to try, that I must. Or I will get a sampler. read more
