Food was amazing! I totally recommend this restaurant 10/10! Chips and salsa and really delicious!

The food is edible but not 4.5 star rating, I have no idea what kind of money they paid to make it happen, and I don't want to know. What I do know is that the food would be more enjoyable had the service not been so disturbingly cold and unwelcoming. I came back a handful of times in hopes of breaking the ice, if you will, receiving nothing but a "Cara dura" as they say in Spanish. Which translates to bold-faced and in my opinion, because food and service go hand in hand, I will never go back. Please pay a little extra to hire friendlier staff. Especially as someone who always goes out of their way to be extra kind and friendly, what I received every time 5/5 times, was not worth the generous tips I continuously left, and overall just simply not acceptable for a business. Came back to this place after my first visit a few months back. Which was a really good experience. We decided to try their buffet and boy were we not disappointed! We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman, and were directed to the buffet, asked if we wanted handmade corn tortillas, which were bomb!!! And the food, from the pozole, birria, chicken mole, spicy riblets, rice and beans were just GOOD!!! The food was OK . We ordered chicken tacos and what we got was a plate with three mini tacos a couple of tablespoons os rice and the same for their beans. The restaurant was completely empty. They had also ran out of the drink we wanted; and to boot someone backed into our truck. Since we were seating near a window we went to check the damage and the driver of that vehicle ran away. The restaurant has cameras but the owner only gave us film, but they only gave us a portion that excluded the impact. It obvious they are protecting the person that hit our truck. First time and last time here. Ordered a wet asada burrito with extra meat, which I was charged $4 for. The food was subpar, meat quality was not very good. I'm actually in a shock that I haven't written a review for this place. My husband and I have been coming here consistently for a couple of years now and we always love it! If you want consistently good Mexican food, you don't have to search anymore. Cocina Azteca is the place you need to be! You would think the food in a small strip mall is meh...but the food is bomb.com! We have eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and even sit in bed talking about how we're craving "the Mexican food down the street". When I make Mexican food at home, I always walk here to grab beans, rice and handmade tortillas. When I come home from work sometimes I grab bean, rice and cheese burrito. It's so simple, yet so cravable and satisfying. Their chips here are always fresh, the salsa is always tasty and fresh....I've had almost everything on the menu and you can't go wrong with anything! The only thing we haven't had is the buffet but we are going to try it soon! There are a few other Mexican restaurants within walking distance, and we've tried one....we were not enamored like we are when we come here. I got caldo de res via Uber eats. They served it with 3 handmade tortillas, some rice, 2 lime pieces, and cilantro and onions. The caldo was very good. It was a generous portion. Good enough to have leftovers. I added both lime pieces green salsa and cilantro and onion and it was perfection. I got it cuz I'm feeling sick and it helped so much. I've always wanted to try this place and tonight was the night. I ordered online via Yelp and arrived to be greeted by a friendly staff member. He walked me through the menu and answered my questions. I ordered quite a bit to try a variety of things. Everything was really tasty and homemade. I loved the seasoned meats and beans and rice. Had lunch here today and I thought the food was very good. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meals and these were literally the best potato tacos I've ever had (chips and salsa were good too). (Disclaimer: I do understand that orders may be messed up through third party delivery services and the food may not meet standards). I've ordered several times here and I've had the following: **Burrito Mojado Plate w/ Al Pastor & Verde Sauce: OH MY GOD. This is the best wet burrito I have ever had in my life. This comes with a delicious verde sauce, rice, and beans. The flavor profile is spot on every single time. I've ordered this four times already and it's really consistent. A+! (5/5) **Burrito Azteca w/ Al Pastor: This is a really great burrito especially for the price, but it had too much rice for me, however, it was super delicious! They did forget the sauce for this order but I had some at home. (4/5) **Tamale (Elote): I'm a sucker for a good tamale and this was absolutely delicious. Decided to try someplace new on Doordash and I'm so glad I did! Everything tried was soo yummy! Bacon breakfast burrito: So good with hash browns + bacon + eggs + beans + cheese -- the only negative was that it was a bit on the greasy side. Otherwise one of the best breakfast burritos I've had and might be my new go to place for them. Carnitas burrito: Much like the breakfast burrito, this burrito was sooo good! The carnitas was so juicy and I really liked the rice, beans, cilantro + onion combo. Both burritos are a good size and will fill you up. I plan to enjoy left overs tomorrow. Sour beans, diluted agua de Jamaica. I tried this restaurant about 4.5 years ago, went today with my daughter excited to have some good food. She ordered menudo and I ordered machaca and agua de jamaica. The jamaica was diluted with so much water tasted like water with sugar only, I told the lady and she suggested to change it for orchata. The machaca had some kind cook beef nothing like the kind use for machaca but I eat it anyway. Problem was the beans, they were SOUR, I told the lady and she did nothing about it. ‍ I understand things happened and maybe the cook didn't taste the food at the beginning of the shift, Apologies go along way too sad they don't care for what they're serving to the customers and when someone points something out it should be taken under consideration, as I was leaving I saw people leaving the beans on their plates as well, you would thing after being told they would stop selling them. This was on a Saturday. I was disappointed with their buffet, the food was bland and not hot enough, some of the food was even cold. My whole reason to stop by here was the buffet. Also, I did have to ask them to bring more food out as they weren't on top of it. Their soda machine didn't work so the took off $2 from the price of the buffet but we had to buy our drinks which was more than what the buffet costs totaling our drinks. So that was a bummer. They do bring out chips and salsa at your table which was nice, but the salsa wasn't tasty. On a positive note they did have homemade corn tortillas. read more

The carnitas are literally just boiled. So disgusting. It's wet fatty pig cheeks. No flavor, no spice. Soggy wet rice with giant chunks of soggy tomatoes. Try harder. I have tried the mole, the wet burrito, street tacos, enchiladas, chile relleno burrito, birria, steak picado plate, huevo con nopales plate, the breakfast burritos (bacon, sausage and chorizo!!!) We love this place! Our 1st visit was PRE-COVID and the Mexican Buffet was delicious and so much variety! For under $20 you could get homemade tasting food (all you can eat), drink, chip and salsa bar. The staff is always friendly and gives you a feel of "family" when your meal is served. Never again. I ordered caldo de pollo (chicken soup). What I got was boiled water with 2 precooked chicken legs & raw vegetables. Had to add my own spices & re- cook. Literally not chicken soup.
