I stopped by Baja Fish Tacos for lunch. The indoor dining room was very busy and loud, so I ate at a table outside in front, which was enjoyable on such a nice day. They also have a large covered outdoor patio with ceiling fans. I had the taco and enchilada combo ($14), with a carne asada taco (+$1) and a shrimp enchilada (+$3.50) with green sauce. The plate also comes with rice and pinto or black beans. You order at the register, and your food is delivered to your table. The enchilada was great, filled with perfectly grilled shrimp, and a nice layer of gooey cheese on top. There was extra cheese on the plate above and below the enchilada which made it even better. The green sauce was great and had a very mild heat. They don't skimp on the tacos here. Two flour tortillas hold a ton of flavorful carne asada and it is topped with lettuce and pico de gallo. They have a great salsa bar, and I always enjoy the salsa verde and some lime wedges with my tacos. The rice is light and fluffy, and I drench it with salsa verde. I usually don't care much for beans. The last time I had lunch here, the pinto beans were very watery and bland. This time, they were much better and I ate almost all of them. There was a lot of extra green sauce from the enchilada on the plate which helped. The woman at the ordering register was very friendly and wished me a great day. The gentleman who delivered my food and cleared my table was also very pleasant. This was my first time here, but I was hoping for some bomb fish tacos! I used to love the fish tacos from Rubios in the area and haven't found a spot to replace those cravings. I've been to the boba place in that plaza and had seen this place. It smells good but had never tried it. Over a weekend my bf and I weren't sure what to eat and I was craving fish tacos so I just drove him here. They have parking on the front and seating indoors and outdoors. You walk to the front to order, self serve sauces at the sauce bar and food is brought out. This is a family friendly restaurant with a casual feel and alcohol available. We ordered a ceviche to share which came with chips. The ceviche was fresh and really good. It had a little bit of kick but not too much. I ordered the fish tacos and were really good! That is why we will definitely return to this Baja Fish Taco because Angel and Rodrigo (I think that's his name, as his name tag was a bit blocked by his apron) were friendly, helpful and patient. We love the fact that we can get a fresh salad for $6, the kiddos love the nachos and they do nicely accommodate getting the fixings on the side and the hubs gets a two taco plate. We've tried all the proteins and there isn't one we don't like. The black beans and white rice is always cooked perfectly-- so the texture is consistent. I love coming here. I can always count on the food coming out freshly made and alway tasting delicious! They are very welcoming, the restaurant it self is well maintained and always clean, there's someone always walking around, wiping down the tables or busing the empty plates from the Guest that have just wiped them clean because the food is so great. They have outdoor seating as well on those nice days where you can just enjoy the fresh air. The patio is a good set up and definitely has enough space for a good amount of people. Honestly a bit disappointing considering the price. Ordered the 2 Ensenada-style fish tacos and a Ensenada fish burrito. The fish tacos were quite dry and bland, I had to douse it in tapatio but still couldn't finish. The dryness was slightly alleviated in the burrito because they add guacamole inside, but again the flavor was very one note, as if nothing was seasoned. Both were served very plainly, since they were a la carte, but it felt underwhelming considering each taco was over $5 and the burrito was close to $14. Our total bill was about $30 after taxes and tips, which just didn't feel worth the price. Lots of outdoor seating in the covered patio with ceiling fans, which would be nice in the summer. Since it is a chain restaurant, I have been to the one in Costa Mesa and recommended my friends to visit the Brea location this past weekend since it is closer for them. Unfortunately, the blackened fish was over seasoned and saltier than what I am usually used to (at the other location). I had to break the fish apart into tiny bits and mix it with the rice and beans to compensate for it's saltiness. The flavors are delicious tho and other than that, this restaurant is just as delicious as its counterparts. I always recommend their chips and salsa with the Baja Bowl so it adds a texture of crunch to the meal.
