If you are looking for some really good ceviche. This is the place. They have Fish Ceviche that is to die for. For most it maybe mild but for me it was just enough heat. A little tangy with just enough bite. It comes with a basket of warm chips. It is super refreshing on those hot days. It's a little pricey but I totally think it is well worth it. My daughter got very ill from the fish here. She had said it didn't taste normal that night and threw the rest away. Unfortunately, she had already eaten some if it. She vomited numerous times. We've eaten here many times and never had an issue. I called to inform the manager and basically was told it did not happen from their food and if it did the health department would know about it. He said that nobody else had called and complained that day and he would ask the other girl who was working prior. No apology at all. Stopped by here after hubby did some errands in HB. We were familiar with the Santa Ana location and have great food experiences there. I ordered the shrimp taco with black beans and rice. But I ended up with pinto beans. The shrimp was cooked well but I'm not a fan of flour tortillas for tacos no didn't pay attention to the details. So as I ate the shrimp taco it just fell apart because all the juices had soaked into the tortilla. Hubby enjoyed his fish tacos and ate the white rice from my plate. No chance of a taste of the fish tacos there. The white rice is just like what we remembered, very yummy. The chips were crispy and freshly made. First don't be tricked by the strip mall appearance, the ambiance inside is adorable and trendy. You order at the counter and the lady helping was super helpful. Decent fish tacos. Came here for lunch since we were nearby and came highly recommended by a friend. We ordered fish tacos and fish platter, each coming about ~$10-13 each. Food was great, love the huge portion sizes. The rice comes with garlic oil and was incredibly flavorful and tasty. Love the salsa bar which allows you to stock up on your usual Mexican favorites: pico de gallo, cilantro, limes, and my favorite their spicy onions (MUST GET, these are like crack to me). Only major complaint for me would be the fish came out a little dry and overcooked. However overall this is still a fantastic place to grab lunch and a delicious, affordable meal! read more

Truly a hit every time. You can never come to Costa Mesa and not see the locals flock at lunch time to this Baja location. The menu isn't complicated and it's pretty much a guarantee that you eat something delicious that day. Definitely don't cheap out. The prices are right. The food is to die for. Honestly my favorite fish taco in socal. The enchilada slapped too but the blackened fish taco is amazing. Also, the charbroiled fish taco is just as amazing. I had to try both. They are pretty hefty fish tacos, and have amazing flavor and juiciness. We wiped our plates clean so fast.. Their salsas are also amazing. Clean, effective restaurant. The food somehow comes out fairly quickly too. And nonetheless, the presentation of the food is on point. Also, I tried the Blackened fish burrito with no rice and beans. If you're a gym rat this is a gains meal. Anything here really is a gains meal. My all time favorite is the Carne Asada bowl white flavorful, fluffy basmati rice, topped with perfectly seasoned beef and cooked perfectly . Came across this on yelp and was impressed by the 5K reviews so we had to go see what the hype was real. And to make this quick; it lived up to the hype! Im from out of of town and we got two different types of tacos. 2 chicken and 2 steak. My girl and I tried both meats. Chicken one had a ton of flavor and the steak one was just great! It wasn't steak it was carne asada how it should be! These tacos were stuffed with protein and they didn't not hold back on the ingredients as well, so the 3.90 for each taco is justified. I think the fish in the taco can be a little salty sometimes (hit or miss). The enchilada is delicious! So cheesy and full of goodness. The combo plate also comes with a heaping spoonful of beans (choice of black or pinto) and rice. I can never finish the rice or beans--they just pile on so much. I totally agree with the prior reviewer. Go to Baja Fish on Bristol in Santa Ana. Way more friendly. I just spent 47.00 for tacos and guac at the Costa Mesa store and asked for a container for pico de gallo and salsa and got from the pick up person "those containers are only if you get chips". Not so at the Santa Ana location. They give you a container without even asking. If you expect a big tip then be accomodating. And they are cheerful. read more

It slipped my mind, and I forgot to order a side of baja sauce. Now, I understand this cost the restaurant extra, but when you have a returning customer that they know and see every week. My god they have some great fish here! I love both their grilled and breaded fish tacos, as well as the daily special, salmon. My husband had the shrimp and asada and loved both as well. The burritos and bowls are very generous in size and well worth the price, the tacos, however are tiny and super expensive, I get that the quality is great and I spruce them at at their salsa bar which I love but the value is still not quite there and that's the only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars. Wow! I brought my family of 8 in after visiting the beach. 2 of us are gluten free. They were knowledgeable about what we should eat and patient with our questions.
